Chapter 9 - The Chase

My heart raced as I grabbed Sarah's arm and pulled her back into the alleyway. "We need to get out of here, now," I whispered urgently.

Sarah's eyes widened as she saw the SUV. "What's going on?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"They've found us," I replied, my eyes scanning the alleyway for an escape route. "We need to move, fast."

We took off in a sprint, our footsteps echoing off the walls as we raced through the narrow passageway. I could hear the SUV's engine roaring behind us, its tires screeching as it turned onto the street.

We burst out of the alleyway and onto the main road, weaving through the crowded sidewalks as we desperately sought a place to hide. But the SUV was gaining on us, its occupants shouting and honking the horn as they tried to run us down.

Sarah's breath was coming in ragged gasps, her eyes fixed on me with a mixture of fear and trust. I knew I had to keep her safe, no matter what.

I spotted a small coffee shop up ahead and yanked her inside, just as the SUV screeched to a halt outside. We collapsed against the counter, panting and trembling with fear.

The barista's eyes widened in shock as she took in our disheveled appearance. "What's going on?" she asked, her voice trembling.

I quickly pulled out my phone and dialed a number, my eyes fixed on the SUV outside. "We need help," I said, my voice low and urgent. "We need it now."

The line clicked, and a familiar voice answered. "Alex? What's going on?"

"I've got Sarah," I replied, my eyes locked on the SUV. "And we've got a problem."

The voice on the other end cursed, and I knew we were in trouble. "Hold tight, Alex. I'm on my way."

But as we waited, huddled in the coffee shop, I knew we were running out of time. The SUV's occupants were getting restless, their shouts and curses growing louder by the minute.

And then, the door burst open, and they stormed inside.
