Chapter 49 - Chapter 49 Sword Oaths And Departments

Eiji looked at his master and answered.

"Well... Sword Oath is a type of technique that uses the power of promise or curse, then seals it and acts like a binding mechanism!"

"Hmm! Every kingdom uses Sword Oath as way to prevent their own swordsmen to betray them.!"

Eiji nodded his head and looked at his master.

"Now, there are two types of Sword oath in the Graduation ceremony. The temporary Oath and the Permanent Oath.

The Temporary Oath, just like its name is only a temporary seal that dissipate over a period of time.

This is generally what is usually used when you don't want to be binded in a single place in your whole life, and you want to roam the world and not be entangled by your duties.

The next one is the Permanent Oath, taking this Oath means that you will be binded by the kingdom forever, never betray and die for the kingdom!

Violating the sword Oath would mean death, as it acts as both a sign of allegiance and curse!"

Eiji nodded his head at his master's words and asked.

"Then Master, What Sword Oath should I have?!"

*Sigh!

Muri sighed at Eiji.

Muri was born in the Kingdom of Masamune, he was once a hot blooded young man that wanted to be a hero and save the world.

But reality proved otherwise, he didn't regret being binded by the sword oath his whole life, but Eiji was different.

Eiji doesn't have the same patriotism he and other kids that lived in the rich and big cities of the kingdom, has.

He was just from a small village that was unfortunate enough to be swept by the war.

He doesn't have to take the permanent Sword Oath like he had.

Although Eiji would do so if He said so, but it would only feel like he swore his allegiance to him rather than the kingdom as Eiji would probably only listen to him.

Muri wanted Eiji to be a free and independent person.

"Eiji... This is something that you should think about.."

"Hmm.."

Eiji looked at his Master and his master sighed again at him.

"Sigh!.. alright, how about this, I dont want you to be bounded by something like this and be swept by the problems of the kingdom, but I also want you to have your own opinions and think for yourself!

Now Eiji, you can first get the temporary Oath, then after a few years, if you have the passion and loyalty to the kingdom, it wouldn't be too late to be forever binded by the kingdom, protecting it at all costs!"

".... Okay master!"

*Sigh!

Muri sighed at Eiji once again.

Eiji accepted what he proposed, but this just meant that he still dependently wants his words and approval before doing anything.

He really hopes that Eiji can think independently and do things that he liked and be free from his own cage.

"Since you have your choice for now, the next thing I want to talk about is the Departments in the kingdom!"

Eiji nodded his head and listened to his master.

"In the school, I have taught you about about the different departments.

The Scholars Department, In this department, you are able to read nearly all of the secret techniques and even able to use magic and cursed swords.

You can study, create and enhance techniques in this department. This department also studies various technologies like the mana stones used for the lost technologies as well as creation of magic swords.

This department, in short is for those that have brilliant mind for creation and curiosity but doesn't have the body to use them.

And.. well Eiji... I don't think you are suited for this Department though!"

"..."

Eiji deadpanned his master, but still nodded.

Although Eiji is intelligent, he doesn't have a very creative mind, rather he is able to precisely do things with instructions and procedures.

If he indeed choose this department, he may be able to enhance and do some things, but it would be limited.

"The next one is the Intel And Information Department, or IAID!

Like the name itself, in this department you are tasked to gather information from various kingdoms and people and even clues about magic and cursed swords!

The Scholar department maybe the safest, but this department can also be classified as a safe one too!"

Eiji nodded and continued to listen.

Muri looked at him sitting in the grass, he shook his head inwardly and continued.

"The third Department is the Warrior Department! In this department....well, you are basically a soldier.

But you are trained to fight, defend, assault, as well as hunting and foraging!

This department has the most numbers, and its both the easiest and the hardest department to get a rank up with!

It's the easiest as, as long as you are talented or have enough merits you may be given a rank up, or if you have someone backing you up in the higher ups, well... As you can imagine, it would be the easiest route to a higher rank.

It is the hardest as almost everyone wants to be promoted so the competition is hard, you have to fight against someone talented, with backing, and someone your age.

They are your teammates as well as competitors in this department!"

Eiji nodded, he knew all of this departments from his Master Muri's lectures before, but this time was more in depth and personal.

"Well.. that's it, the three departments in the kingdom, well... As far as what is on the surface though..."

Muri smiled at Eiji.

Eiji looked at his master with curiosity wanting to know what his next words are.

*End Of Chapter.
