Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Law-Knower Doesn't Understand Human Hearts

"I'm not a pushover," Chen Luo muttered as he scrolled through the online forums, seeking help for the situation unfolding in his home. The beautiful girl who had fallen from the sky lay on his bed, still unconscious despite her fall not appearing too serious.

The responses varied from practical advice to whimsical commentary, reflecting the diverse nature of netizens. Chen Luo sighed, realizing he couldn't rely on the internet for a solution.

"One thing is true," Chen Luo murmured, glancing at the girl lying on his bed. "She doesn't seem to be seriously injured, but she just won't wake up."

"And I hope when she does wake up, she can help me clean these sheets," Chen Luo added with another sigh.

He picked up a damp towel from the nearby basin and began gently wiping the dirt from the girl's body. She had fallen face down into a muddy pit that had been watered just two days prior, leaving her covered in grime.

Fortunately, Chen Luo's previous volunteer work at the hospital had equipped him with the skills to handle such tasks efficiently. Initially organized by the school for educational purposes, Chen Luo had found volunteering expedient for completing tasks and continued with it. Some patients were more difficult to assist than others, but there were also rewarding interactions, like with a girl his age who simply wanted company during her hospital stay.

"Finally almost done," Chen Luo sighed in relief after cleaning the girl's arms and legs, even applying a massage technique he had learned at the hospital to improve blood circulation and alleviate stiffness.

Now, only the hair remained—a daunting task considering its current state.

The girl's hair was as filthy as if she had rolled around in mud like a Husky. Chen Luo hesitated but resolved to tackle it. As he flipped the towel to use the clean side on her hair, their eyes unexpectedly met.

"Oh... um, you're awake," Chen Luo stammered, pulling back the towel awkwardly.

"When did you wake up?" he asked, feeling equally awkward.

Without responding verbally, the girl snapped her fingers lightly.

*Whoosh!*

Several beautiful feathers materialized in the air, creating a mesmerizing sight. But in the blink of an eye, the feathers transformed into sharp swords positioned menacingly around Chen Luo, immobilizing him.

Chen Luo cautiously touched the tip of one sword with his finger, confirming their sharpness. They were real!

Feeling vulnerable, Chen Luo dared not move.

"Ah, waking up from a nap is always so painful," the girl remarked casually, stretching lazily. Her arm recoiled mid-stretch, indicating she had inadvertently touched an injured area.

"By the way, I woke up two minutes ago," she added nonchalantly, as if realizing she should have spoken up earlier.

"..." Chen Luo was momentarily at a loss for words. "You woke up two minutes ago? Why didn't you say something?"

"Although I woke up two minutes ago, why should I rush to speak? Besides, your massage technique is quite impressive, embodying principles of martial arts," the girl remarked, reclining slightly against the pillow and observing Chen Luo with curiosity.

Chen Luo's eyes widened in surprise.

"Yes, I can read minds. As a Law-Knower, no one can deceive me," she continued casually. "But you're quite intriguing. Normally, would strangers bring someone home like this?"

"And here I am, a beauty lying in front of you. Don't you have any thoughts?" she teased, her tone light.

"Well, I'm used to helping others," Chen Luo replied cautiously, aware of the swords hovering around him.

"Huh? You're not lying? How interesting. Are there still such genuinely kind people in this world?" The Law-Knower regarded Chen Luo with a mix of curiosity and admiration.

"...Listening to you, I suddenly realize something," Chen Luo began, a realization dawning on him.

The Law-Knower could read minds, but seemingly couldn't fully read his thoughts, especially those related to his talent.

"I'm not just a good person. Thank you," Chen Luo stated quietly.

"You still insist you're not a good person? Without ulterior motives, you brought a stranger home and took care of her," the Law-Knower mused, shaking her head. "I don't understand."

As a Law-Knower, she could sense the thoughts of others, and she found it puzzling why someone would take care of her without any hidden agenda.

"Human emotions are so complex," she reflected, gazing at Chen Luo thoughtfully.

Lost in contemplation, the Law-Knower pondered deeply...
