Aubrey then took a slow breath, her gaze sharp as she spoke. "You sure have a lot of confidence in Gerald's parents, don't you?"

She shifted in her seat, her arms still crossed over her chest, clearly standing her ground. "And why shouldn't I? They're good people who want what's best for their son. And that doesn't include you dragging him into this mess."
