Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: The First Strike

A brilliant golden light engulfed Myles and everyone, blinding them within a few seconds. It was accompanied by the sound a million times louder than the sound of thunder.

Some who were very weak also became deaf for a few seconds. However, the side effects of the explosion lasted only for a minute or less. Before, those who were affected by the explosion regained their hearing and vision.

Myles looked in front of him and saw a mushroom shaped cloud of smoke rising up in the sky.

A lot of buildings had also collapsed. Causing countless debris to lay on the ground. Myles was certain that a lot of mages were killed due to the explosion and the derbies.

The mages were quick to react. Just a few seconds later, Myles saw them forming barriers around the Giant castle.

Even though mages were casting various defensive spells. It was clear that they were caught off guard, as panic was clearly visible in their faces!!

Due to this, their efficiency had experienced a major drop!!

Using this as an opportunity, he saw countless fighters from different directions marching straight towards the sword pavilion. It was clear that they were their allies.

Also a furious rain of energy beams and bullets descended down on enemies from various directions. Myles was certain that it was the work of the gunners hiding around the area.

Nonetheless, the mages didn't even get the time to think of a counterattack. As the rain of bullets was constantly killing or seriously injuring a person every second!!

Along with the threat of the approaching army from various directions, the mages didn't even get a chance to let out a breath!!!

"MARCH REDHAWKS. LET US FREE THE SWORD PAVILION.!!" The commander of the red hawk said as she took out his sword.

Within a mere second, the commander of the red hawks disappeared from his side. Her troops eagerly followed behind him.

Seeing this, Myles also issued a command to his troops. Even though he wasn't aware how he would fare in battle.

"MARCH FORWARD!! FOR SWORDSMANSHIP LET US FREE THE SWORD PAVILION!!!" Myles commanded his voice carrying authority.

He charged forward as fast as he could while his troops followed closely.

What surprised him was that he moved as fast as he could. He could travel much faster than the speed of the wind itself!!

He looked behind him realizing that even his captions failed to keep up with him!!

"If the speed stats of this body is so high that the other stats must be equally high" Myles thought to himself, making an important realization.

If the speed stats was so high then what about the other stats such as strength, stamina, health and mana. Even though he was unaware of the limits of this body, he knew that it wouldn't disappoint him.

"I need to do something simple in order for me to test the limits of this body" Myles thought to himself.

As he was lost in his own thoughts, a voice resounded through his ears.

"Commander the mages have begun their counterattack!! Be careful!!" Zen's voice resounded through his ears.

Upon hearing this, Myles woke from his daze and looked in front of him. He saw countless projectiles charging towards them.

Balls of flame, bolt of lightning, ices, branches of tree and even strange balls of energy charging towards them. Myles knew from a single glance they were the product of magic!

But he wasn't worried about it in the least, with his insane speed dodging them was very easy. He instead focused his attention beyond the lines of projectile.

He saw hundreds if not thousands of mages charging towards his army.

"They will serve as a great test subject for me to know the limits of this body" Myles's grinned.

Judging from the aura of mages ahead, the majority of them were D-grade fighters. Though some C-grade fighters might exist, it was unlikely. Anyway even the combined aura of this army of these mages weren't enough to make him feel threatened.

This made them a perfect test subject for him to check the limits of this body. Well, this was until he encountered a foe with the same strength as him.

If he encountered a B-grade mage, he was sure that the chances of him winning was very low. Why may you ask?

It's because he didn't know how to activate any of Aldrich's skills. In fact, it was due to this fact that he was in such a hurry to get to know the limits of his body!!

He wanted to devolve a fighting style to fight a foe with the same level as him! Hence knowing the limits of his body, particularly his strength, was a must.

"The mana and stamina of the body must be very high" Myles thought to himself.

He was quite sure about it since when he channeled an enormous amount of mana into his sword. He felt like he had utilized a drop of water in an enormous ocean.

Nonetheless Myles shook his head and focused all of his attention beyond the projectiles. Before charging forward with all his might, he issued a simple command to his troops.

"I will take care of the enemy mages ahead. You guys take care of the projectile" Myles shouted, his voice carrying authority.

"Commander, it's a very risky move. I suggest you not to do this" Caption Zen remarked his voice carrying seriousness.

"Marching with you…"

"I have already made up my mind. Just do as I have commanded you to do" Myself interrupted them.

Seeing Myles's determined look, the captions knew that he couldn't be persuaded.

"Alright Commander but take care of yourself" Caption Zen said with a long sigh.

He didn't even bother to reply. Just a second later, he charged towards the mages at speed much faster than the wind itself.

He dodged all the incoming projectiles, he sometimes also used his sword to destroy them. But he didn't use it often since it wasn't far to ineffective slicing the projectiles in half.

Maybe if he possessed a sword aura, the outcome would have been different. But sadly he didn't have it so he just dodged as many attacks as he could.

He continued to charge towards his enemies without halting even for a second. As he looked in front of him, he spotted mages whose hands were covered in flames, lighting, water or had some sort of staff on their hand or their hands were glowing.

He didn't know the difference though since he was unaware of the power systems of the mages.

"Let's look for a suitable target," Myles thought to himself.

Within a mere second, he swept across the entire field. He spotted a particular mage who got his attention.

This mage was covered in flames from top to bottom. His aura was a bit stronger than before but hundreds of mages were close to them.

After killing him, he could go on rampage and kill the other mages.

"Found my target" Myles's thought to himself.

He locked onto his target and continued his charge. Within seconds, he managed to get within range, albeit with great difficulty.

The mages were caught off guard by how quickly he reached them. Not wanting to miss this golden opportunity, he swung his sword with all his might!

The results were completely shocking to Myles.
