The corpse of the dead beast was laid in front of him. Myles carefully inspected the beast from top to bottom.
A large part of the flesh of the beast was missing from his body. It was clear that this was not the work of a human.
The chances of it being the work of another beast was very high. Myles carefully inspected the wound on the body of the beast.
"The wound appears fresh," Myles muttered under his breath.
The fresh blood pouring out from the beast signified that the wound was fresh. This presented a very worrying factor to Myles.
"Is the beast responsible for the death of this beast also waiting for an opportunity to attack me?" Myles thought to himself with a grim look on his face.
The chances of this happening was not that unlikely. Since some beasts tend to cleverly hunt their prey by launching a surprise attack. So it wasn't wrong for him to be worried.
"Let's scan the surrounding area for more time" Myles thought to himself.
He began to scout out his surroundings, it took him just 30 minutes to complete his scouting. Unfortunately, he didn't find anything suspicious, causing him to frown.
The beast should have been around here considering that it had killed the other beast not too long ago. It shouldn't have been able to flee without alerting him!!
Well there was one way to leave.
"Unless the beast has insane stealth ability" Myles thought to himself.
Myles's body shivered at the thought of such stealth abilities. Afterall, if the beast had such stealth abilities, then how could he be certain that if had left? In the worst case scenario, the beast might be around him waiting for an opportunity to strike!!!
"I should just continue my journey, it's not useful to think about something that I can't counter at the moment" Myles thought to himself.
Since he wasn't able to do anything to stop him, he might as well stop thinking about it all together. He just decided to deal with this matter later.
Hence, he shook his head and resumed his journey.
One day later.
Night had finally fallen, Myles had temporarily set up a camp since he deemed it too dangerous to move outside. He was currently sitting in front of a bonfire.
Normally, he would have logged out since he didn't have anything to do. But tonight, he decided to go against it.
There was one reason, he didn't have anything to do in the real world.
"Since I don't have anything to do in the real world. I might as well spend the time in the game" Myles thought to himself.
As for his health? He wasn't worried about it since the console would notify him when it was becoming risky to stay in the game.
Besides, logging out in such a forest was very dangerous. How could he be sure that he won't find himself surrounded by a horde of beasts when logged back in??
Hence, he patiently remained sitted in front of the bonfire, waiting for the night to end.
As he was patiently waiting for the night to end, he made sure to regularly scanw his surroundings. He didn't notice anything different for the next few minutes.
But a few minutes later, it changed. An ominous feeling descend down upon him, it was almost like his survival instincts was warning him of a some danger.
He also noticed that the birds and weaker beast were behaving unusually. The flights of countless birds which were originally sleeping abruptly woke up from their slumber.
Letting out a scream of fear before they flew away like running away from a demon.
The weaker beast around the forest let out howls of fear as if welcoming their Kings. All this made one thing clear to Myles.
"A powerful predator is around me" Myles muttered under his breath as he tightly gripped his sword.
The ominous feeling didn't decrease, it only grew stronger signaling that whoever was around him was waiting to make a move.
"This beast probably has his eyes on me since the last couple of hours" Myles made a wild guess.
He shook his head, getting rid of all his thoughts and focused on dealing with the current danger at hand.
He remained on guard at all times, constantly scanning his surroundings for the beast. But he didn't find anyone.
Although, he didn't let us guard down. He knew that it was just a matter of time before he was attacked.
His guess became a reality!! He felt a powerful aura from his left, he quickly diverted his attention to his left. However, he only spotted a streak of black light since the beast was traveling at an incredible speed.
He tried his best to follow the streak of black line. To his horror, the beast was moving towards him.
The beast probably will be able to strike him in a matter of a few seconds!
"Damn it" Myles cursed when he realized this.
What was worse was that he didn't know anything about the beast except for the fact that it was very fast and possessed a very powerful aura!!!
Still Myles tried his best to remain calm since doing the opposite will just worsen the situation!!
He channeled mana into his sword. Hence quickly activating the third movement of the basic sword art.
A notification flashed in his retina but he ignored it like he didn't even exist in the first place.
He focused all of his attention on the black streak of line moving towards him! Now matter how much he tried, he couldn't see even a single part of the beast.
"I may not be able to block the attack of the hard beast," Myles thought to himself, despair was clearly visible on his face.
He just gritted his teeth a few seconds later and hoped for the best. Just a mere second later, the black streak of line was just a meter away from hitting him.
However!! From this distance, Myles managed to catch a glimpse of the black streak of line!!
A large bird with furs and wings as black as coal itself stood in front of him. The bird had a sharp beak along with legs with sharp claws.
What made Myles worried was that the claws were charging towards him at an incredible speed!! What made it even worse was that he couldn't do anything to stop the claws!!
Just a few seconds later, the claws passed through his robe like he didn't exist in the first place!! However, surprisingly the claws were stopped by his armor!!
However, the impact caused Myles to cough up a mouthful of salvia. But in mere seconds, he gained control himself knowing that it an opportunity was right in front of his eyes.
Hence, prepared to launch a counter attack at the bird! However, realizing that it had failed, the bird quickly retreat before Myles had the time to react.
"Damn it!!" Myles cursed as he saw this.
What made it worse that the bird was already launching the same attack!! Realizing that he won't be able to kill the bird due to its insane speed. Myles began to think of a way to instead escape.
Just a few seconds later, an idea appeared in his mind after he took a closer look at his surroundings.
"This might work" Myles muttered under his breath.
