Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Role of Reputation

Under the guidance of the elder from the Hall of Fortune, Chu Feng quickly found the Sky Martial Pavilion.

"Elder, could you please let us in?"

As Chu Feng approached the entrance, he noticed a few young men pleading desperately.

"Only those at Martial Arts Stage Two or above can enter the first floor of the Sky Martial Pavilion. Those at Stage Three or above can access the second floor. These are the rules."

The elder at the entrance responded coldly, his expression indifferent.

The young men left dejectedly.

A glint of gold flashed in Chu Feng's eyes as he briefly glimpsed the fates of these young men. He chuckled inwardly, "As expected of someone with super vision!"

In just one day, most of the super-eyed individuals were facing their first challenges and were utterly clueless about cultivation.

While the majority were still at Martial Arts Stage One, Chu Feng had already reached Stage Three!

He stepped forward and handed over his inner disciple token. "I wish to enter the second floor of the Sky Martial Pavilion."

The elder at the pavilion took Chu Feng's token, his eyes showing approval as he nodded and stepped aside.

The super-eyed individuals behind Chu Feng were stunned.

"He's an inner disciple?"

"Must be at least Stage Three, right?"

"That kid looks about our age. Could he also be a super-eyed one?"

"Impossible. I've talked to other super-eyed individuals, and our templates are the same. No one can reach Stage Three in just one day. He must be a native genius of this world."

"That makes sense..."

As Chu Feng entered the second floor of the Sky Martial Pavilion, he had no idea he had just earned the title of "native genius" merely by passing by.

Activating his Eternal Divine Eyes, he began to browse through the martial arts manuals with super vision.

The Eternal Divine Eyes had the ability of "divine memory," allowing Chu Feng to remember everything he read.

Once he had browsed through all the manuals, his mind would essentially contain a portable Sky Martial Pavilion.

"Hey, there's even a map here?"

After flipping through hundreds of martial arts manuals, Chu Feng found a map that fell out of one of the books.

It seemed that a disciple had accidentally left the map in the book when returning it, leaving it on the second floor of the pavilion.

Opening the map, Chu Feng saw that the four major martial arts families in Yu Yang City each occupied one of the city's four corners, with the Zhao Clan located in the southeast.

To the north, there was a vast mountain range marked with images of fierce beasts, indicating its danger.

"Mountains... I remember that killing fierce beasts can also earn reputation points. Plus, the blood of these beasts can be sold for a high price to buy more precious pills."

Chu Feng's eyes lit up.

His cultivation had reached Martial Arts Stage Three, and continuing to train within the Zhao Clan would no longer significantly aid his future breakthroughs.

Heading to the Cross Mountains to train would not only grant him high reputation points for killing fierce beasts but might also provide some fortuitous encounters.

High risk comes with high rewards...

"My supreme divine eyes can foresee fate, so choosing the path with the highest risk and highest reward is the best for me!"

Chu Feng quickly made his decision.

However, he needed to make some preparations before heading to the Cross Mountains.

Hunting fierce beasts without a suitable weapon would be unwise.

Chu Feng remembered that next to the Mysterious Pill Pavilion, there was a Star Martial Auction House that sold various weapons used by martial artists.

"I only have five hundred taels of silver. I wonder if it's enough to buy a low-grade mystical weapon..."

Martial artists' weapons, known as mystical weapons, were vastly different from ordinary ones.

With his cultivation at Martial Arts Stage Three, Chu Feng could now use a low-grade mystical weapon, but such weapons were notoriously expensive.

At the Star Martial Auction House...

"What kind of weapon are you looking for, sir?"

"I need a low-grade mystical weapon, specifically a bow and arrow."

After a moment of thought, Chu Feng replied.

Given that his Eternal Divine Eyes granted super vision, a bow would be the best choice.

Why engage in close combat when he could kill beasts from a thousand miles away?

However, the receptionist looked troubled upon hearing his request.

"We do have several low-grade mystical weapons, but bows are rarely used, so we have a limited supply..."

"Currently, we only have one low-grade mystical bow, named the Star Ripper Bow. It's quite expensive, though."

"It costs one thousand taels of silver."

"But this bow is inscribed with patterns by a martial arts master, allowing a Stage Three martial artist to unleash true essence attacks."

Typically, only Stage Four martial artists could project their true essence. However, the Star Ripper Bow, enhanced by a master's patterns, enabled a Stage Three user to perform like a Stage Four, justifying its thousand-tael price.

"But... I only have five hundred taels of silver."

Chu Feng frowned.

"Are you going to hunt fierce beasts in the Cross Mountains?"

The receptionist seemed to guess Chu Feng's intention.

"Yes," Chu Feng nodded.

The receptionist bit his lip before proposing, "How about this: I can loan you five hundred taels of silver, but you need to repay it within a year, interest-free. How does that sound?"

Chu Feng was taken aback.

Such a good offer?

The receptionist smiled, "Your cultivation has reached Stage Three, and judging by your attire, you must be an inner disciple of the Zhao Clan."

"I know that inner disciples of the Zhao Clan receive a monthly stipend of fifty taels. Saving up five hundred taels would only take a year."

"Besides, the Cross Mountains are full of opportunities. Just killing a few fierce beasts should earn you more than five hundred taels."

"So, this is an investment."

Chu Feng realized that his status as an inner disciple had improved his credibility, bringing him convenience.

Another possibility occurred to him...

Reputation points had their uses too!

Whether it was the elders of the Sky Martial Pavilion or the Hall of Fortune, or other institutions in Yu Yang City, they all treated him with respect.

In contrast, super-eyed individuals still at Stage One received cold responses even when making small talk.

Thus, reputation points not only provided higher scores during evaluations but also offered many advantages in this world.

Under the receptionist's arrangement, Chu Feng signed a loan contract.

He paid all the silver he had, and the remaining five hundred taels would be repaid within a year.

The Zhao Clan vouched for him, ensuring his credibility.

Chu Feng then received a blue bow with golden dragon-like patterns.

He had acquired a low-grade mystical weapon: the Star Ripper Bow!

Chu Feng immediately headed to the Cross Mountains, ready to earn a ton of reputation points!
