Victor took a moment to admire those embers of light. For some reason, their appearance in such a dark place was almost ethereal. It was as if he was seeing something divine with his own eyes.
'So beautiful…' He thought to himself. That was when he noticed something. The embers of light had already grown so bright, that they were now far closer to him than he expected. Still, they kept on growing.
Victor didn't feel any threat coming from these things, so he simply decided to see what was about to happen instead of trying to resist. The light continued growing, till it reached a point where the entire dark world around him was now as bright as day.
Closing his eyes for a moment, Victor was flashed with an intense light. But, it didn't last too long as the next second he was able to regain his vision. That was when he noticed something.
'Hm?' Looking down, he saw countless thin strings of light protruding out of his chest, where his heart was. Staring at it, he noticed that the light was slowly seeping into his body in small streams. At the same time, a feeling of warmth filled his chest.
'It's forming the core…' He thought to himself.
Without realizing it, Victor focused on these strings of light even more, and that made the process somewhat quicker. The strings kept going into his body, slowly filling the gap where his core was forming.
The comfortable sensation, coupled with the weird situation made Victor completely forget about everything else. The process became his entire target of focus.
Time slowly passed, the young man didn't know how long he was in there and he frankly didn't care. Eventually, what snapped him out of his daze was the sudden shift his entire body went through.
After absorbing all that light, his chest was illuminated. A source of light had been birthed within his body. Then, that light quickly spread across his entire body.
Victor looked at the change with surprise and curiosity. The feeling was simply magical. He didn't know what it was, but it was definitely doing something to his body and that change was growing at a rapid pace.
Eventually, every single part of him was shining brightly like the moon. 'This is weird…' He mused. 'I wonder what is happening to me.'
Before he could even think of an answer, however, he was suddenly sucked out of that dark world as his body exuded all the light it contained. Opening his eyes widely, he looked around him.
The beautiful scenery of the island welcomed him back as the slow breeze wrapped around him again. However, that feeling was completely overlapped by something completely new.
"Huh?" Victor muttered. "Is this…"
All around him, and even inside his body, he was feeling some kind of energy. The feeling was certainly completely different from anything else. He couldn't even describe it. Yet, at the same time, he understood this energy considerably well.
"It's the Runic Energy…" He muttered. "It's really all around me."
Wherever he threw his senses, he felt the energy flowing through the air in streams. It was akin to rivers of water except in a formless shape.
In reality, Victor was quite excited to see the results of this core formation. That was when he realized something else. Closing his eyes, he immediately saw a shiny yet colorless orb, floating in his sea of consciousness.
The orb was the only thing he could see so it was very eye-catching. Looking closer at it, the white orb had weird, runic words written all around it, wrapping it up completely. They were the same color as the orb so they could barely be seen.
'This is my core… It looks interesting.' He thought to himself as he opened his eyes again. "That wasn't too hard either. Looking at the sun, it didn't take that long either."
When he sat down, the sun was barely over the horizon, indicating that it was still early in the morning. Now, it was closer to the middle, which meant that the entire process took mostly a few hours.
Taking a deep breath, Victor stood up. "Hmm, the God said this core is gonna make me able to absorb the energy around me, and channel it through, no?"
For some reason, even though he should've not had any idea how to do that, he actually felt like he had a clear idea. It was as if the moment the core was formed, it became a part of him that he knew how to use instinctively.
With no hesitation, he simply allowed his instincts to take over. Almost instantly, he noticed a change. The energy flowing all around him suddenly shifted direction and started approaching him very slowly before entering his body.
The moment the energy made contact with him, he felt a very comfortable warmth along with an invigorating power pumping into his muscles and bones. The source of power was naturally that energy, and since he was only absorbing very small doses of it, the feeling was very faint.
"... Hmm, not bad," Victor muttered. At that moment, the absorption suddenly stopped out of nowhere. Victor raised an eyebrow. 'Why did it suddenly stop? Was it because I lost focus for a moment?'
Going silent again, the process started again. Victor then tried to stop it and immediately, the energy went back to normal.
"Very convenient. I feel like my core has absorbed some energy. Although I can't feel any difference physically. It probably doesn't affect my physical body yet since I didn't channel the energy. Not to mention that this body is considerably weak as it is."
Looking down at his own body, he could notice how skinny and weak it looked. He also felt that weakness the moment he was brought to this world. After all, he was accustomed to his old body that was honed into a pure machine ready to exert incredible force if necessary.
'How long would it take to get back my previous body?' He thought to himself. 'Tsk, I won't know till I test how my body is currently. But, I'm definitely looking at a few months, give or take. There is also the need to leave this island in less than a month. I also need to start absorbing Runic Energy to evolve my core which might also take a long time considering what the God said.'
As Victor thought more about it, he realized that he was indeed facing a giant list of things he had to do. He had barely been in this world for a few hours, and yet he already was about to get busy. Yet, for some reason, this didn't feel as dawning as he expected.
Perhaps because this was a new experience and a breath of fresh air for him after the life murder he lived before. Or maybe it was simply his longing to find a purpose in life that pushed him to be motivated. Either way, Victor felt a little excited about what was to come.
With that, he sat down again and picked up the rest of the stack of paper. The first thing he wanted to know was what the God had in store for him next.
'This might get pretty interesting now.'
