Slowly, the girl's eyes widened as she registered the words Victor had just said. Calling her instant reaction a shock was an understatement. In fact, it was so much of a shock, she couldn't even hide it at all.
It took Nameless a few moments before she finally remembered to breathe and asked. "... You're going to give me your b-blood?"
"Yeah. Does mine not work?" He asked. "Also, I would appreciate it if you don't suck me dry. I don't have much blood in this body."
'I don't even know if it's enough to get her back on her feet.' Victor looked down at his body with a sigh. If it was his old body, he could've easily given her plenty of blood without feeling any difference. Not to mention that he already suffered a minimal injury before getting on the ship and it did lose him some blood. However, even after weeks of training, this body was still far from optimal even for someone his age.
Granted, he had developed some muscles and some stamina. But, he still lacked a lot in both departments and two weeks of intense training were nowhere near enough to actually close that gap fully.
"N-No, ehem, that would work! It's just…" Nameless looked down with a frown.
"What?"
"... Are you really sure? I mean… Uh, I have never met a human that is ready to give a Bloodborn their blood." She said.
Even as she was saying those words, she couldn't believe what she was saying. A human giving her blood? It almost sounded like a sick joke. The sheer hatred both sides harbored for each other made such a thing very much impossible.
All her life, she only heard and saw how much humans loathed and hated her people. She saw many die under their hands, most of them were people that she cared for. She has always been a victim of the humans.
Yet, here she was being offered the most precious thing a human has, their own blood. It made no sense and yet, it struck her hard.
As she was contemplating those thoughts, Victor noticed the flashing emotions in her eyes and he quickly realized what she was talking about.
'So she's worried about 'that'?' He mused.
"As I said, I have nothing against your race or your people. As long as you don't try to harm me, I won't kill you, most likely." Victor replied.
"But why… Why are you helping me this much?" Nameless blurted out with a confused look. She wanted to know why Victor was going out of his way to help her this much. They were basically strangers, hell, she didn't even know his name yet.
It felt odd that he was ready to give her his blood just so that she could move.
The question made Victor blink before he looked away at the distant sea. His eyes flashed with a mysterious glint. "I wonder why too…" He muttered.
"Huh?"
"Well, let's say you made me feel curious about you." Victor sighed as he ran his hand through his hair. "I'm someone who has no purpose, and no goals to aim for. Just like this sea, I'm just moving with the current and seeing where I'm going to end up. Our meeting is essentially pure luck, or at least it seems to be luck. But, my guts told me that saving you might be a good idea and I'm just following that." He shrugged.
It was really just pure curiosity and intrigue that led him to make this decision. It wasn't a resolute conviction, but he was aimless enough to put his focus on saving this girl and see what that could bring him.
After all, if ambition wasn't his driving force, then Victor didn't mind curiosity being the one to drive him.
However, when he looked at Nameless, he noticed that she had a blank expression. Raising an eyebrow, he snapped his finger.
"Hey, snap out of it." He said.
That made the girl blink as she looked up. "I'm… Sigh, you're the weirdest human I've ever met." She muttered as she rubbed her temples. "I don't even know what to say anymore."
"Don't say anything if you have nothing to say."
"You're right."
'I guess he really didn't lie when he said he had nothing against me. What an odd thing.' She thought to herself. Nameless would be lying if she said this didn't worry her as she had never met with goodwill from a human before.
But, if he was really offering her his blood, then what was there to worry about anymore? That was the biggest proof that he really had no bad intentions.
"Now, here. Is my forearm a good spot?" He asked as he rolled his sleeves even more. "Make sure to bite here, it won't touch any of my main arteries."
"...* Gulp*"
Looking at Victor's arm, the girl felt her thirst rise again as her eyes flashed with a weird glint. She felt her mind losing control for a moment and almost bounced on Victor. However, she quickly shook those thoughts away. Even if she was desiring blood, she didn't want to harm her benefactor because of her hunger.
"I-I understand. Also, if you feel like I have drunk too much, stop me." She said. "I will try to stop myself, but I don't know… If I can control myself properly. I still haven't reached that level yet."
"Don't worry, I was planning to do that either way." Victor nodded. "Now, let's get this over with and start moving. I don't like our current position."
The girl nodded her head and slowly got closer to Victor. Her eyes were now completely focused on his forearm. Her heart rate increased and saliva filled her mouth. Her breath turned a little ragged.
'Finally…' She thought to herself as she licked her lips and opened her mouth, revealing a set of teeth and two sharp fangs. Then, she put her head near Victor's arm. Closing her eyes, she slowly put her teeth on his arm before biting.
Her fangs easily sunk into his arm as blood leaked out. However, almost instantly, the fangs sucked the blood in.
Victor felt the sharp pain in his arm, but he ignored it and looked away. It was indeed painful as he expected, but his pain tolerance was good enough so he didn't care. Meanwhile, Nameless sucked the blood in greedily.
From the very first drop, her entire body shuddered as if she were a thirsty person finding cold water in the desert. It was so delicious that she couldn't even put it into words. Without the need to even think about it, this was the most delicious blood she had ever tasted. Every single drop of blood after that was like heaven that was reviving her dead body.
Every cell of her body consumed the blood, quickly turning into energy that restarted her organs. In a few seconds, she was already feeling way better than before. Her muscles are pumped with energy. Without realizing it, Nameless wrapped her arms around Victor's hand, holding tightly to it.
The latter noticed that but didn't say anything. He was a little worried at first but then realized something.
'She isn't sucking that much blood.' He squinted his eyes. He could feel the blood being sucked out and it wasn't as much as he expected. 'Is she deliberately making sure not to consume too much?'
However, Victor could see the maddening hunger in her eyes. He was certain it was very hard to control her urge to drink a lot of blood. He imagined it as a very thirsty person seeing a bottle of cold delicious water and yet had to sip slowly from it. It required an impressive level of self-control.
'Interesting…' He thought to himself. 'Well, I guess I won't lose too much blood.'
As he was thinking like that, his eyes slowly moved to the side to let Nameless drink on her own. However, at that moment, his face froze as his eyes slowly moved up. His breath came to a complete halt. Right in front of him, barely a few meters away, a giant limb has emerged from the water.
