Chapter 25- Twelve Eyes Of Death (Part 1)
Victor's senses were completely overwhelmed by a dark sensation. He felt the freezing cold water of the sea engulf him completely in a split second, threatening to crush his weak body to pieces.
He felt his chest and lungs burning due to the sudden shift in pressure. But, he ignored that pain as he opened his eyes. Luckily, Victor had taken a deep breath before letting the water in so he was ready.
He also was a masterful swimmer since it was an essential part of his training as a hitman. Looking around him, all he saw was darkness. There were no sounds and no movement. His body was slowly being swept left and right as the current moved through the interior of the ship, crushing and destroying everything in its way.
'Great, my vision is completely obstructed.'
Although the situation wasn't optimal at all, Victor didn't freak out. He had been in far worse situations in this before that includes being underwater. He even learned how to swim in completely dark water, with both his arms and legs tied. This was nothing new to him.
So, the first thing he did was to try and recognize where he was in the room now. It took him exactly 5 seconds to realize that the water had pushed him near the door and was slowly dragging him out of the room.
So, without waiting a moment, Victor grabbed onto both sides of the door as he faced the strong current with all his power. 'Where is that girl? She didn't get knocked out of the room, right?'
The sole reason he was still inside was to look for the girl. He didn't know if she could survive this violent current of water on her own. He didn't forget that her body was sick and she could barely move.
'I don't have much oxygen in me so I need to hurry.' Clenching his teeth, Victor then pushed himself off the wall and started swimming forward using all his might. Fighting the current was hard, but he was surprisingly able to move against it, albeit slowly.
But, that sadly consumed a lot of energy, something that Victor didn't want at all.
A few moments passed as Victor finally made his way back to the cage. There, he started looking around through the darkness. The visibility was horrible, but what Victor couldn't see with his own eyes, he compensated for with his other senses.
Using his awareness, he was able to quickly locate a body a few meters away from him. So, without waiting, he swam toward it. There, floating silently, he saw the girl. Her eyes were closed and she seemed to frantically throw her hands around, trying to move.
'She doesn't know how to swim?' Victor frowned as he reached her. Then, he grabbed her arm to signal his presence. At first, Nameless started moving even more frantically as if she didn't know what touched her. She struggled to free herself which made Victor use even more power to stop her and get her out of her panic.
The boy wasn't aware that the girl lacked the ability to even balance herself underwater.
Luckily, his efforts paid off as Nameless finally opened her eyes and stared at him. The faint light coming from her red irises illuminated the surroundings very slightly.
But, Victor didn't waste time and made hand signals with his hand. 'I'm getting you out of here. Grab into me.'
Even though the signal wasn't necessarily something she knew, he put his trust in her ability to comprehend the situation.
Nameless blinked once before she nodded. Then, she slowly put her hand on Victor's shoulder. Feeling her grip on him, he nodded and finally started swimming forward. At this point, it had been exactly 30 seconds since they were submerged underwater.
Both were already nearing the dangerous territories of drowning. However, they still had enough in their lungs to get out.
'All those spiders were knocked out of the room. This is good. I guess they cannot swim after all.' The boy thought to himself as he looked around him. He couldn't notice a single insect around him which assured him that they all died.
However, that roused some suspicion in Victor's heart. 'But, if they cannot swim… How did they reach this ship? Were they hiding somewhere I didn't notice?'
The possibility was there, but he doubted it greatly. Mainly because that number of spiders couldn't simply hide somewhere on this ship where he wouldn't notice them. They would've at least left some traces behind with their sheer number.
Yet, by some miracle, the spiders had appeared out of nowhere. Or at least it seemed like they did.
'This is unnerving…' Frowning hard, Victor felt a chill run down his spine. Something felt really off, but he couldn't wrap his head around it yet.
So, instead of overthinking, he focused on swimming. Pulling two bodies was hard, but he was able to easily reach the exit since the current was going that way. Then, he swam up the stairs. It took him a few seconds, but he was able to emerge out of the hole, only to realize that the entire ship was almost submerged in water now.
The crack he made seemed to have accelerated the process. Now, only a few high-altitude areas haven't sunk yet. So, without wasting any time Victor swam toward one of those areas. The burning sensation in his lungs had already grown really intense. But, seeing the exit, he didn't feel all that pressure on him.
A few seconds later, he found himself barely a few inches away from the surface. So, he put his hand over his shoulder and pulled Nameless up. He couldn't really jump out with the two of them at the same time, he didn't have that much strength in his body to pull that off. So, he had to let her get out first and then follow suit.
The girl willingly let her body float up as she emerged from under the water.
"Bahhh!!!" Exhaling a long breath, she looked around her with wide eyes. Then, she quickly moved to the dry area and threw herself on it.
"Hah… Hah…" Under the shock, Nameless' heart was beating loudly and her breathing was erratic. She lay there, unable to move at all. "I hate… Water… I never wanna get in there… again…"
Nameless had a deep, primal fear of the sea. She wasn't a good swimmer either due to that fear so this experience, as short as it was, felt like hell.
A second later, Victor emerged too. Although he was way calmer, he also had to catch his breath.
Dragging his drenched body, he sat on the wooden platform. He then ran his hand through his hair to push it back.
"That was… something…" He muttered with a sigh. 'It didn't go fully as planned, but it still worked out somehow.'
Victor was quite glad he came out in one piece from that situation. 'It could've certainly gone way worse. Nothing to complain about here.'
Then, his eyes shifted to Nameless who was sitting next to him.
"Are you alive?" He asked casually.
"Somehow." She replied with the same tone. "What should we do now?"
"... I have a boat not that far away from here. Hopefully, it's still there."
'This boat will take a few more minutes before it fully sinks.' He mused as he looked around him. A few moments ago, the water was still on the surface. But, it didn't take long for it to be perturbed as corpses slowly emerged from under the water.
Tens of dead human corpses rose to the surface, in a very disturbing sight. The blood from all of them changed the color of the water.
Victor's eyes turned a degree colder as he witnessed this scene.
"Rot in hell, bastards." Then, he heard Nameless whisper under her breath.
However, he didn't comment on it. Her hatred toward them seems logical considering what they did to her. In fact, he is surprised she didn't start jumping around in happiness seeing her enemies' corpses all around her.
'I guess that's too twisted on my side.'
Shaking his head, Victor stood up and shook his head. "We will have to do another swim to reach the boat. Are you re-"
As Victor was about to turn his head and look in the direction of the sea, his entire body froze and his eyes widened to the extreme. For a moment, his brain went completely blank as he saw something that completely shook his soul.
Quietly, from under the water, a large limb emerged. Its appearance was so swift and quiet, he was sure he would not have noticed it instantly. However, its sheer size and height were enough to send fear into his soul.
Then, as if unbothered by their presence, the limb went down, stabbing one of the dead corpses ruthlessly before slowly dragging it under water along with it… Never to be seen again.
