The evening finally came. Time to attend what brought them there in the first place. he would have liked it since he never enjoyed vacation, especially when he had a lot of work to do, yet this time was different. He wished he could stop the time. That it wasn't the end, the end of their short but sweet moments together. He was already missing it. The excitement in her eyes when they land on something she likes, walking beside her under the night sky. All those moment they shared. From the kiss, they way her lips danced with his, it was the sweetest thing ever. Her silly blush when she is embarrassed, he wanted to live for it till the end. However, he didn't know how Angela felt, and that was the most depressing. Every time his eyes met hers, he felt drowning into them and felt like confessing his feelings, yet he was scared. The fear of losing her always won over his love.
He sighed as he climbed the stairs to her room with a shopping bag in his hand. He knocked on the door but received no answer. He knocked one more time before Angela's scream raced his heart. Anxiously, he pushed the door open, and to his lucky it wasn't locked. Forgetting about the bag in his hand by letting it fall on the ground, he froze on the sight of terrified Angela running to him. She hid behind him.
" Are you okay? What happened!" He gasped, turning to check each corner of her body for an injury.
" Inside there," she pointed to the bathroom, still trembling in fear.
"What's inside the bathroom?" He asked yet received no reply from a pale-faced Angela.
He walked to the bathroom with Angela, tailing behind him. He swiftly opened the door and peeked inside. However, he saw nothing threatening. He pushed the whole door open, revealing the neat room and empty floor.
"I see nothing here," he said. Just then, a lizard came out from the door edge. Angela shouted again and ran back into the room, climbing on the bed. Confused Quen followed her, trying to calm her. She jumped off the bed and hugged him. Hiding her head on the crock of his neck.
" Quen, please send it away!" She gasped. Almost crying.
"Send what ?" He questioned, holding her tight in a soothing way.
"That filthy lizard," she exclaimed. That's when Quen noticed the small creature climbing to the window for its own escape.
Funny! Here Angela was making a fuss while her threat was busy making its escape.
" Is it gone?" She asked
" Not yet. Right behind you, " he lied to tease her.
" No, no.. get that thing away from me, " he pleaded, tightening her grip.
All this time, Quen was struggling to suppress his laughter, yet it was impossible anymore. The bold, confident Angela is afraid of a small lizard. That wasn't only childish but funny, too. He didn't want to laugh at her, but this was beyond his imagination, so he burst into a loud laughter.
Angela pulled out from the hug and stared at him and then to the floor. No sign of lizard. " fuck you " she slapped his shoulder hard and turned around to go when Quen halted her by holding her wrist.
" I didn't mean to laugh at you but you were funny. I couldn't help it" he chuckled this time. Angela glared at him making him zip his mouth.
" whatever" she growled. " just say what brought you here and leave my room".
" Okay angry bird" he mocked. He leaned down and picked up the shopping bag from the floor.
"This is what brought me here" he handed her the bag.
" why did you buy a dress, I already had one!" She exclaimed totally impressed by how thoughtful he was.
"I went to the mall, cought a glimpse of the dress and thought it fit the night".
" of all places your feet dragged you at women's store? " She teased wearing a cheeky smile.
Quen found himself rolling eyes. "Whatever. Continue your staffs, you've got an hour before we leave". He reminded her and marched to the door and halted right before it. Making a round back, his lips rose into a small grin.
"Don't call me again for the lizard" with that he closed the door behind him.
"I didn't call you in the first place, dumbass," she shouted after him and received a loud laugh as a feedback.
Quen was standing downstairs waiting for Angela to come down. He was in black tuxedo paired with his most luxury Oxford footwear. One side of his hair was combed backwards, showing a part of his forehead while others gracefully fell onto the side of his face, making him more elegant and shining. Not forgetting his silver rolex watch hanging around his wrist. He looked like a star himself, and he knew it since he was told many times.
He was busy adjusting the cufflinks of his jacket when he heard footsteps upstairs, and he instinctively raised his eyes up. The picture that came right to his view was eye-blinding. It was like someone had secretly put light behind the petit figure, which was slowly descending the stairs. Yet he was aware that there wasn't any spot light or sun rays but only her beauty. He roamed his shameless eyes from her legs, the way her left leg pushed out of the gown whenever she took a step forward to her perfect curves covered by a shinny dress, up to her slander waist and then her fair neck. That god damn neck, which always aroused his desires whenever she exposed them to him. How could one be this perfect that you won't even be able to see any flaws. Her lips, pink, heart-shaped lips, the one he wished he could kiss till swollen and there they were smiling at him, totally unaware of all plans he had for them. If last time he said pink was going to be his favourite colour, right now he was bound on doting that black was the perfect. Was the girl beautiful?. No. Beautiful wasn't even close. She was fucking gorgeous, glamorous, ravishing, heavenly, stunning ,the combination of all vocabularies for beauty. A drop of salva made its way down his throat and that's when he realized his mouth has been open in shock.
"What's with the stare?" She questioned descending the last step.
" well _I _ the dress .." He starred in word, his gaze fixed on her.
" What's wrong with the dress?" She inquired with confusion.
" it's....just turn around." he just said that to buy a time for himself. His mind was not on the right track that he was sure of, and he didn't want to say anything he would regret later. Yet her turning around only worsened the situation.
" fuck " he cursed. May be God was testing his patience today. The dress was revealing her back and he couldn't helping thinking how it would feel to run his fingers down that bare back. Drawing circles here and there.
"Hey what's with the tone. Anything wrong with the dress" she turned back facing him. She already liked the gown and was praising Quen in her heart for being such sharp eyed so she couldn't bear it if something doesn't fit.
" no you're gorgeous. I mean the dress is perfect but..." Angela eyed him hard.
"But what?" She gasped.
" I'm starting to regret ever buying it" he casually said.
Angela was pissed off. There was no way she was going to go without this dress.
" you bought a dress, forced me to wear it and now you regret it. May I know the reason my prince" she asked folding her arms over her chest.
Quen smirked and took a step closer to her. Angela raised her head and gave him a determined look.
"How do I put it. It really fit you, like it was originally made for you. However " Angela raised a questioning brow when he suddenly stopped talking. He was like choosing the right word to say. "I don't think I can bear other men eyes on you"
He whispered, catching Angela off guard. It comes as big blow to her and the fact that he said it as if it was a the most right sentences to say right then was more astonishing. She expected words like the dress is too revealing, you look like a whore or I don't like the color anymore. Not something so romantic and straightforward like that.
She smiled and tackled her short blonds behind her ear.
" Well that's not my problem as it's not your concern too" with that she went ahead of him with a big smile on her lips.
Quen chuckled and followed behind her. Outside, a driver was waiting for them in a Mercedes s-class. Quen surely understand her. She was grateful that he didn't bring a limo. Those things are too fancy to her liking. He opened the door for her.
" it's my concern since I'm a kind of guy who likes to keep precious things for myself". She smiled hopped inside and Quen went to the other side and hopped in too.
" isn't what you said selfish?" She asked as he entered.
" not when you want to keep what's yours to yourself"
Angela chuckled. "And what's yours here Mr Okefe cause I don't include in that"
"Well, you are not mine"he shrugged and they both smiled.
"Good for you then "
" yet " he added with a wink and Angela's eyes widened.
"You....." she started to protest but was cut off by the driver's clearing of throat.
" Sir you ordered for this" he handed Quen a small box which he handed to Angela too.
She took it and opened to find a beautiful diamond necklace.
" a necklace?" She exclaimed. "First it was a dress and now a necklace!I'm starting to think it's already Christmas".
"If you are my partner tonight, you have to be presentable. No other kindness"
"Cocky ass. Just admitt that you care for me" she mumbled.
"Let me help you" he snatched the necklace from her and leaned over to help putting it on.
She muttered a thanks and turned to face the window. If only her life remained like these past few days, though she would have to bear with Quen's arrogance, she wouldn't wish for anything more than that. With a light sigh she smiled and the driver started the engine.
