Chapter 2 - Early Days

**Scene**: The prison yard

The midday sun beat down on the prison yard, casting harsh shadows across the cracked asphalt. Inmates milled about, taking their brief respite from the confines of their cells. The yard was a tense mix of activity and underlying aggression, with occasional arguments flaring up into fights. Guards watched from the perimeter, ready to intervene but often allowing minor scuffles to play out.

Erik observed the chaos from a distance, choosing a secluded corner of the yard for himself. He had learned early on that keeping a low profile was key to survival in Sunshine. The name was misleading; the wing was designed to break men before attempting to rebuild them.

**Scene**: Erik's corner

Erik began his routine of strange exercises—yoga poses followed by intense shadow boxing. The other inmates, curious and wary, kept their distance. Erik's focus and intensity marked him as someone not to be trifled with. However, curiosity and the prison's inherent nature meant he wouldn't be left alone for long.

A small group of inmates, led by a man named **Viktor**, approached Erik, smirking and looking for trouble.

**Viktor**: (Mocking) "Hey, what's this? Prison got a new yoga instructor?"

**Erik**: (Ignoring them, continuing his exercises)

**Viktor**: (Stepping closer) "Hey, I'm talking to you. What, you think you're better than us?"

Erik stopped his shadow boxing and looked at Viktor, his eyes cold and unreadable.

**Erik**: "Back off."

**Viktor**: (Laughing) "Or what? You gonna teach me a new pose?"

**Conflict**: Erik vs. Viktor

Viktor lunged at Erik, throwing a wild punch. Erik sidestepped effortlessly, his movements precise and controlled. With a swift strike, Erik hit Viktor in the ribs. A sickening crack echoed through the yard as Viktor fell to the ground, gasping for air and clutching his side.

Guards quickly intervened, pulling Erik away and checking on Viktor. The yard buzzed with a mix of shock and admiration. Erik was taken back to his cell, while Viktor was carried off to the infirmary.

---

**Scene**: Infirmary

In the infirmary, Viktor—whose real name was **Günther**—was placed on a stretcher and taken to the prison hospital. His breathing was labored, and the pain in his side was intense, but a small, satisfied smile played on his lips. This injury had been part of the plan all along.

**Flashback**: Günther's past

Günther had been in Sunshine for three years, serving time for forging documents and embezzling money from his company. His life had fallen apart during his incarceration. His wife divorced him, remarried his coworker, and now they had a child together. The betrayal had festered in Günther's mind, fueling his desire for revenge.

**Günther**: (Thinking) "This time, I'll have the last laugh."

---

**Scene**: Erik's cell

Back in his cell, Erik paced, his mind racing. He knew that Günther was now where they needed him to be. The plan was in motion. As part of their scheme, Erik had to gain notoriety and ensure that Günther was sent to the hospital, where he could access critical information.

**Scene**: Hospital room

In his hospital room, Günther was alone, nursing his injuries. A nurse entered, carrying a clipboard. She was **Lisa**, a crucial part of their plan.

**Lisa**: (Softly) "Are you ready?"

**Günther**: (Nodding) "Yes. Everything is set."

Lisa handed Günther a small device, hidden within medical supplies, containing the information they needed to expose the corruption within Sunshine. Günther took it, feeling the weight of their mission and his personal vendetta.

**Günther**: (Thinking) "For my ex-wife and her new husband, they'll get what they deserve. And for the rest of us, we'll finally see the truth revealed."

**Scene**: Prison yard (later that day)

Word of Erik's fight spread quickly through the prison. His reputation grew, marking him as a force to be reckoned with. Meanwhile, the other inmates whispered about Günther's sudden removal and speculated on what it meant.

Erik resumed his exercises, knowing that the first step of their plan had been successful. The real fight, however, was just beginning. Sunshine was more than just a prison—it was a battleground for truth and survival.
