Chapter 74 - Awakening

The reunion between the girls had been… tense. For the lack of a better term. Amelie and Freya had been a bit put off with me having another woman. Especially in Freya's case since she was the young woman's aunt. Nicole however got along swimmingly with the tribrid and went out of her way to befriend Hope. Apparently Nicole had adored the girl when she was just a character but now that she was one of the 'sister wives' as Freya put it, Nicole couldn't be more happy. Still, I got a lot of shit from all three for apparently seducing and 'corrupting' another woman. Hope tried to help by saying that it was mutual and that she had seduced me as much as I had seduced her. Of course only Amelie believed her as she had been the only one to have a similar story in terms of a relationship with me.

Amelie had joined Joan of Arc who I was surprised to learn had been born much later than expected. If Dorina was to be believed, then Seth had saved and turned her around the 1500s. Which shouldn't have been possible in the first place as she was burned at the stake sometime in the 14th century. I simply shrugged it off and dismissed it as some sort of anachronism born from having multiple people from different worlds and this world being a part of an even bigger world.

All that said, I figured that the girls and I could use a vacation. That wasn't to say that we would completely ignore the elephant in the room that was Myrddin, but that we would talk things as they came and enjoy what the world offered. The first few decades was spent traveling the world. Hope and Freya insisted on finding out if Mystic Falls existed in this world, short answer, no it didn't. Then we traveled through the americas interacting with the native tribes and somehow winding up as 'legends'. I saw it for what it was though, we had somehow become the scary stories that parents told their children to get them to behave.

Amelie decided that it was much too early to see if her family would exist here too so she decided to stick with Joan as she went through France saving people and generally antagonizing the royal family. When I returned with Hope and Freya/Nicole it had nearly been a decade and things had progressed. The village had erected some sort of statue where Casimir was entombed. Dorina had set up a watch around it with Mina and Amelie who had resigned from Joan's merry band of lady warriors. We joined them in their vigil and watched from afar as time passed by.

For immortals time wasn't a big deal, I understood Lestat's 'eternity alone' musing a bit better now. Had I been alone I would have no doubt gone crazy from the lack of proper interaction. Had I been alone I would have done rather drastic things to feel something. Had I been alone, I would have definitely turned into some evil bastard hell bent on ruining the world. It brought me back to my first days in my existence as a vampire. I had thought about taking over the world. Centuries later and it was almost funny how crazy I was from just being alone for a few days.

Things had changed so fast, I had found or been found by Morgana. My life got turned upside down. I had a hand in influencing history, I achieved nearly everything I had wished for as a human. The only thing I had accomplished was starting a family of my own. You would have thought that I would be crowded by my squabbling children by now with how much sex I was having with three women. And it wasn't for the lack of trying I didn't even know if it was possible for vampires to reproduce. The years had made Amelie a bit restless, she had seen the villagers and their 'adorable' kids. This gave her somewhat of a 'baby fever' and with the enhanced vampire emotions I could hardly keep her from tearing my clothes off in public every time she saw a baby.

More time passed and the first of many surprises came. Hope had come to me declaring that she was pregnant. Amelie and Freya/Nicole had been incensed that Hope, the newest in my 'harem' had been the first to get pregnant. They practically dragged me off that day and didn't let me go until I was nearly desiccated and feeling like a husk. Another surprise came in the form of Hope's pregnancy. You'd think that after centuries that I wouldn't be surprised by much but seeing that Hope's pregnancy was going at a snail's pace. She was now nearly several years along and still looked only a month along. I wondered if this was some sort of mystical bullshit. This fact gave Freya/Nicole and Amelie hope that they may have also been already pregnant.

Then the shit hit the fan, it had been Amelie's turn to keep watch over Casimir's 'vigil' as the women had called it. The years had progressed in a flash, it was now the 1940s. Somehow some asshole had gotten the drop on Amelie and she had disappeared. Freya sent out search parties and came back with nothing. In my anger it took quite a bit to calm me back down. We had gotten complacent over the centuries. Our own strength became something we thought would make us unbeatable.

Three years passed before we caught a hint of Amelie. Hope had given birth a decade before Amelie was captured. My little daughter, Helena grew about as slow as her mother had carried her. That meant that even at nearly twenty years old she was still physically and mentally around 1 years old. I didn't even know how the hell it worked. She displayed every power her mother had though so we all knew that she was going to be powerful when she finally grew into adulthood. Whenever the hell that was.

Nicole and Freya finally found a solution to their shared body problem. It had taken some magic and no shortage of rituals but Freya and Hope with some help from Morgana's gifted knowledge, were able to construct a homunculus body for Nicole. That said, Freya and Nicole could still switch places, again I didn't know how that worked.

That was the extent of the good news, Amelie was still missing. The war had spilled out to the town we were watching and the Germans were closing in on the town. One town over I was sitting in my office as I sipped my bourbon mixed with blood and sighed just as Freya burst into my study with a look of excitement.

"I think I've found her…"

I stood up from my seat in the blink of an eye. "Amelie? You've found her?"

"Yeah Nicole and Hope have managed to locate her to a bunker about a hundred miles from here."

"Fuck, they got that far?"

"It has been three years, but that's not all Seth."

"What more could there be? I already expect that they've probably tortured her if not experimented on her."

"Seth… it's Casimir, They're saying that he's waking up."

"Well, that'll certainly complicate things."
