Chapter 40 - Undercover

Michelle POV

People have been pointing the finger of blame at me for Katherine's shooting that occurred a couple of weeks ago.

I was not the one who pulled the trigger; rather, it was a man who I had hired to carry out a hit on her.

Since then, he has been on the run, and I have been looking for someone else to carry out the hit for me.

Today, in the afternoon, I have a meeting with a man who is willing to complete the task for me.

Because he is also an American, he won't have any trouble entering the USA.

My manager provided me with information regarding him.

He dated Jonah's sister until she passed away a few years ago.

Because Jonah had a niece and nephew who lived with him, he maintained communication with the person. He is concerned about the possibility of losing touch with the children that his sister had.

I take the straw I am holding in my hand and place it on the powdery substance waiting for me on the desk.

The substance is being snorted up my nostrils.

At that same moment, Jonah enters the room, and he immediately grabs my arm and takes me out of the room. "That shit is not something you should be using! Your already waning career is going to be completely ruined by this.

I shrug. I don't give a damn. Melvin will pay for all of the things that I need. All that is required of me is to take the life of the woman who is stealing him away from me.

He knocks my head. Are you unable to see, Elle? Yes, you have me. "You do not need for him."

Hands are clenched into fists. "Jon, you have no idea what I need. One thing about you is that you are a good liar.

As Jonah's face turns red, he pushes me against the wall and gets me to the ground. "Don't piss me off, Elle."

He is pushed away from me. "I hate you."

"No, you don't." There is a smash of his lips on mine.

As I wrapped my legs around him, I allowed him to carry me to the bedroom using his arms. I am thrown onto the bed, and he continues to crawl on top of me. I feel him nibbling on my ear. "Melvin's never going to make you feel as good as me."

*********

At 1:30, I get into the black SUV parked in front of my apartment.

The person chooses to wear his sunglasses. He is wearing an LA cap on his head and does not want me to come into contact with his face. His gaze is fixed on the road at all times. "What can I help you with?"

The sound of his voice is harsh, and it causes chills to run down my spine.

It's not a smart idea to engage this person's services. He appears to be lethal in the absence of a strike on someone.

"I want you to take the life of a woman who is hurting my life. Everyone believes that she is his fiancée, even though she stole my fiancé away from me. I ought to be with him at that moment."

"Do you have a photo?"

Taking the photograph out of my bag, I say, "Yes," and then I set it on the seat between us. The check is also sitting on the chair. If you finish the jobs, I'll pay you half now and the other half later.

I will have to spend some time in the US to keep tabs on her whereabouts.

It will take you two weeks to become familiar with her movements. I shall be in the US for the celebration of Melvin's parents. As I walk out of the vehicle, I open the door.

Leaving the curb, he pulls away from it.

I noted the vehicle's license plate number and researched the person I hired to handle my problem.

Even though I always follow my instincts, he could have been a better guy.

I am aware that I ought to have faith in my manager and the people he is acquainted with, but things are different when it comes to his brother-in-law.

Matt's POV

Suddenly, my phone vibrates, and I notice the word "Claire" flashes across the screen.

I picked up the phone and answered it.

What's up, Agent Warren? I said.

Please contact the girl, Claire.

No, not just yet. I plan to meet with her while my daughters are at school.

And she laughs.

Although everyone at the agency is aware that I do not have children, I felt compelled to share my life with someone who did.

"I can't even imagine you having children," said Claire. I adore the history behind it.

Me: It's no longer a backstory in any sense of the word. When the woman I was with passed away, she gave me complete custody of her children at the time of her passing.

Have you inquired with the agency, Claire?

Yes, that is why they do not use me for tasks that are considered harmful. I have decided to relocate the daughters to the US. During the weekend, I will be present there.

I can't wait to see you and to get to know the other girls here, Claire. I hope that they have not made you more lenient.

As if having children would make me more lenient.

The girl and I need to meet up right away. Following our meeting, I will give you a call.

Claire: All right, be careful now.

I put my phone in the glove compartment after turning it off and putting it there.

The hands-free set I placed a few weeks ago holds the second phone I use by placing it on the set.

Flashback

When my phone rang a few weeks ago, I drove the children to school. I answered it because I was in the middle of driving them.

As the talk progressed, my palms began to sweat, and I accidentally dropped my phone into the ground.

I leaned to the side and took my eyes off the road for a while to get a better feel for it. As a result, I came dangerously close to driving us into a fence.

In the end, I successfully turned the wheel in time, and we came to a halt on the side of the road.

The girls were crying, and they told me that if I did not get a hands-free set, they would not ride in the car with me again unless I purchased one.

Flashback ends

In the one that ought to serve as a model for my daughters to follow with their behavior,

Immediately after that, I solemnly vowed that I would never again engage in such risky behavior in front of my children.

My vehicle is parked in front of Jonah's house.

Jonah informed me that his girl is in a difficult situation and needs assistance. He believed that I would be able to help him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't know what Michelle intended, just in case he didn't know.

Whenever they have the opportunity, they always try to get close to one another.

In the past, he was a more admirable person; however, ever since he began dating Michelle, he has transformed into a person that I do not even recognize.

Elsie would feel such disappointment. Her youngest daughter, Joan, was just three years old when she passed away in a car accident. She was Jonah's sister.

After a moment, I hastily put on a cap from LA and sunglasses. In the meantime, I wait for Michelle while looking out the window.

As soon as the door of the car opens, she comes in.

When I ask, my voice is more forceful. "What can I help you with?"

"I want you to kill a woman that's causing problems for me."

You have not experienced any difficulties as a result of her. It is you who is inflicting it on them. Everyone believes that she is his fiancee even though she stole my fiancé away from me. I ought to be with him at that moment."

"Do you have a photo?"

"Yes," she says as she removes the photograph from her bag and sets it on the seat in the middle of the two of us. The check is also on the seat." If you finish the jobs, I'll pay you half now and the other half later.

"I have to go to the States for a while and track her every movement."

It will take you two weeks to become familiar with her movements. I shall be in the US for the celebration of Melvin's parents. She opens the door to the car and exits the vehicle.

After moving the vehicle away from the curb, I noticed she was writing something in a book.

Most likely, it is my license plate here.

My false name is complete; the only thing she will learn about me is that I am a good guy with no criminal past. At least everything is for my fake name.

Even though I had a record, the agency would have had it removed.
