Chapter 1 - Chapter zero. Prologue. Part 1.

Qisations echoed throughout the main hallway of the large desolate building in the Engitory district. It used to be a Toctinus factory, they were responsible for polishing and concentrating the power of pure ore for use in technology. Now it was nothing more than a pile of rubble because of the "vanguard", people from the surface. Its beauty had become another ruin on the heap in Pown.

—On the way, we must find the capacitor. —Said the admiral in charge. Everyone followed his steps without saying a word. They were a flock of sheep following a useless shepherd.

On the other hand, I was in a room. Its condition was deplorable, full of cracks and fallen walls. It was hard to believe that this room used to be a small break room for employees. The few dim, artificial lights that came in through the window made the place look as if it were in eternal rot. But the flickering, irregular white lights coming from me made everything look a little more "cozy" and not so spectral.

I was soldering some interesting parts I found. These were a long rope of tensioned metal rods, a couple of tubes of carbon substrate, some nails, springs and screws, a fishing rod rail and a small motor, very powerful, by the way, which was operated by a lever. The engine had a wheel that, when operated with a rope, which was detached from it, activated a mechanism along with an alternator that allowed the engine to work.

—Sir, I think there's someone here! —I heard one of the subordinates shout near the door of the room he was in.

—I think my time is up. —I took my bag and put the capacitor they were looking for in it, it would be more useful to me than to them.

I clipped my small welder to my belt and held up the welding goggles I was wearing. I also took the artifact that was half finished and the things I found, and then stood next to the window. Banging began to come from the deteriorated door, I stood at the edge of the window and stared at the door. This one held up longer than I expected. The vanguard had managed to enter the room.

—How are you, mustache? You rushed back to Pown, did you get bored of the clean air? —I started to laugh sarcastically, while he adjusted me to jump outside.

— Ersa, you should not make fun of the vanguard, much less me, the leader. And what we have come to do is not the business of an "underground" —He said while adjusting the white and exaggeratedly large mustache that he had.

—As you say, mustache. By the way, they never told you that the red color on your armor and your mustache makes you look like "Santa Claus." —Some of his subordinates began to snicker.

—Shut up, you ungrateful brat. You better leave the place, if you do I won't stop you. —He said, unholstering his weapon.

"Okay, I'll take your word for it." —I reached my hand into my bag and took out the capacitor. —I'll just take this little capacitor. I hope you don't mind.

- Wait…! —I put the capacitor in my bag and jumped out of the window. I fell rolling on the pavement and when I stood up, I ran from the place. Although the window was on the ground floor, rolling on the floor hurt just the same.

When I turned around I could see how they were coming out of the window and starting to run after me. I just laughed and kept running. The place was quite run down, there were piles of rubble, boxes and tubes scattered on the road. I was avoiding each obstacle, either jumping or sliding. I could hear swearing and clanking coming from behind me. Although it is the vanguard, they are clumsy because of the armor.

In the distance, he could see a fence two meters high. Behind her you could see almost all of Pown. The buildings made of various metal plates, with different unique and striking shapes. Several pipes ran through or around some buildings. The yellowish and green lights of each place showed our ceiling clearly. Pown was located beneath the great city "Rilim", it had been like that for a long time. Although I didn't care at all.

The fence was getting closer to me, I couldn't help but smile. I loved being in these types of situations and having to escape by running and avoiding obstacles. I jumped towards one of the posts where the fence was hooked and pushed myself upwards. I grabbed the gaps between each rod and pushed myself with my hands to, with a twist, fall on the other side.

—Damn you, Ersa! —The admiral shouted, they were approaching the fence. I pointed with my hand to my left and said:

— Remember that the door is open. —I ran out of the place. As I walked away, I could hear them opening the door and starting the chase again.

I began to enter the city, due to its architecture, I could sneak between the buildings with great ease. I decided to turn into one of the many alleys that formed between these. I looked back and the vanguard was still following me. As I turned my gaze forward, I noticed that the hallway was beginning to get narrower and I was getting closer and closer to its end.

I increased my speed and jumped on one of the walls. From that wall, I pushed myself to the other and so on, until I gained height. From above, I noticed that the wall at the end of the hallway was a small, long ceiling. I saw a small pipe, crossed between the walls perpendicularly, a few meters from me, in front and down. I stopped pushing myself off the walls and let myself fall towards the pipe. In the process, I looked down only to see the entire vanguard in the alley.

They began to point their weapons at me and shoot, their bullets were small projectiles that left their targets unconscious through an electric shock. Luckily, these only worked if I was in contact with the ground or something touching it. Simply put, they were little spheres that hit me.

Once I was close to the pipe, I extended my arms and grabbed onto it. I moved my hips along with my legs to gain more power and swung with the help of the metal cylinder. I let go of it and did a little backflip in the air and rolled onto the ceiling. I got up, pushing myself with my hands. When I turned around, I saw that the vanguard was rising quickly on the roof, I didn't know how, but I did know that I had to start running faster.

I went deeper and deeper into the alleys of the city. From time to time, I would throw boxes, which I would trip over. on the road, to hinder their progress. I could hear the shots of their weapons, they passed near me. I turned right at a fork and ended up in the shopping district. There were many people walking in this, either with their carts and baskets to sell or with bags of money to buy.

I began to go deeper among the people, while I saw how the avant-garde was keeping up with me. He didn't slow down, he simply avoided what was in front of him. Suddenly, a saleswoman came across me with her car. This was full of cresinth tarts; a typical fruit from here, some of the cakes were in wooden boxes. The car had a small cloth roof and was too close to the ground for me to slide. The people around me prevented me from going around him, I had no other choice.

I looked at the sign with the price of the cake, three medallions. I took out of my pocket, which happened to be, my last three medallions. I turned my body abruptly, skidding on the ground and marking it with the color of my sneakers. I bought the lady a cake and ran her car to pass. It didn't seem to bother her much. I resumed my run, feeling my legs burning.

—Thank you, come back soon! —The lady shouted, maybe I'll buy you another cake another time.

I put the box with the cake in my bag and continued in a straight line, until I reached a dead end. In front of me, there was a building too tall to climb. When I turned around, I saw that the vanguard was a few meters away. I started looking everywhere, until I saw a hallway with a pipe leaning downwards. Without thinking, I ran there and jumped into the pipe. I started to slide standing up and couldn't contain my excitement, I ended up shouting "yu-hoo".

When I looked back, I saw that only the mustachioed man jumped in search of me. I took the device I was putting together and put the welding clamp on it. "Right now I am grateful for having made the welder self-sustaining." I took the clamp with the electrode and put on my welding glasses. I decided to finish assembling the device, since I was going to be in a bind. If I wasn't wrong, this pipe would leave me in front of a big rock and my only hope was this thing.

I would take out some of the parts I had in my bag and solder or snap them into the device, until I finished it. It looked like a gun, which I liked as it would make it more practical to use. I also decided to use some of the taut metal cable to clip the device to my belt. I hooked everything back up and looked ahead only to see empty, rocky terrain.

Reaching the end of the pipe, the buildings stopped being on the sides of it only to reveal a desolate and inhospitable landscape. The pipe ended at the edge of the rock. I could see that the vanguard had surrounded the place, that's why they separated. I jumped off the pipe and ran towards the edge of the large cliff, at the bottom of which you could see green and yellowish lights of the "lower town" district.
