"They called me death at a time when I was the self embodiement of life. So now, I will become the very death they despised me for."
A young man with a hoarse voice said as he looked towards the dark sky in agony. His clothes were covered with holes and ragged in dust. Blood covering the depths of his eyes. Yet, the intention of surrender never crossed his mind. Chains held him as the charcoal-black dirt beneath him stained his feet.
Approximately fifty years ago, mankind had to face a foe it could have never even imagined. The Great Nothingness is a huge chunk of space that consists of simply nothing and the Void, the space between galaxies and clusters. Had decided to awaken the world with Death.
Countless creatures varying in appearance came out like an ocean. Eating planets and stars alike. Some like to call them Titans; some like to call them Monsters. But Asher likes to call them the Creatures of Eclipse. Destroying the peace of the night.
As such destruction came, so did many surprises. Other intelligent species across the universe finally awoke to battle this mighty foe. With diversity united at a single front, the plane of Existence pushed forward with a massacre, killing each and every single alike. No mercy whatsoever.
At that time, existence also got introduced to a way to break their limits. A way they could never have even imagined. And that limit-breaker was "Essence". Asher had heard some people on how "Essence" was just mana like in those comics he used to read but much more complex. It was so complex that, in fact, he couldn't call them the same.
But what can he say? The majority always wins.
The world had terraformed as this happened. As mankind got chaos spewed upon by itself. It adapted to such changes. And changed its ways. But for Asher, it was always the same.
Before it was, the rich sat on the top.
Now it was, the strongest sit on the top.
Asher had never really expected anything in his life. Living in the outlying districts of the human world capital "Narnia," he had to survive by eating rats and roaches. Every single night, he slept, knowing he could die tomorrow very easily, either due to hunger or some burglar. At this point, he knew death was imminent. Life had lost his blue eyes as his raven black hair had dust in it.
However, little did he know. Something will change.
For the better.
But for the worst.
