Chapter 1 - Ch.1: The Beginning Of Fatality

August. 23, 2044

"This sucks…huh." the guy exclaimed as he watched in disbelief as the undead creature stumbled after a cat. Its body was decomposing and rotting with every step it took, and yet the cat seemed to elude it, taunting the undead with its nimbleness.

"Aren't you bored, Dave?" the man asked, his eyes fixed on the undead creature as it consumed the cat.

Dave exhaled a soft sigh, his eyes remaining fixed on the undead creature as it continued to consume its meal. He leaned against the wall, his expression a mixture of boredom and mild disgust.

Dave continued, a hint of frustration in his voice, "True, it is boring... But it's not like we can simply leave this place. After all, the soldiers who made this school their base gives the orders. We're stuck here until they decide otherwise."

"Hmm, sucks…" the man said, his red eyes glowing for a moment as a brief grin appeared on his face. He continued, "Hey, Dave…"

Dave turned towards Kai as he rose to his feet on the edge. Under the soft glow of the moonlight, a mysterious aura seemed to gather around Kai, enveloping him in an enigmatic atmosphere.

"What is it?" Dave inquired, his curiosity piqued by Kai's behavior and the subtle energy that surrounded him.

Kai spoke with a solemn tone, his eyes fixed on Dave, "Do you truly want to just stay here, trusting our lives to these soldiers, while our loved ones perish in the grasp of these creatures? Do you really want to remain weak and powerless as the world falls apart around us?"

Dave's gaze held firm on Kai, observing the mysterious aura that enveloped his body and the powerful determination that radiated from him. The soft glow of the moonlight only heightened the intensity of the moment as Kai reached out his hand, the invitation undeniable.

Dave chuckled, breaking the tension for a moment. "Yeah, yeah, you're not the main character, bro. Stop acting like some edgy protagonist."

Kai looked flabbergasted at Dave's comment, a mixture of disappointment and disbelief etched across his face. "Bruh... Why did you have to ruin the mood? I was having my main character moment!"

Kai confessed, his eyes flashing with excitement. "But yeah, man, I really want to leave, though. I mean, it's a damn zombie apocalypse! It's freakin' awesome!"

Dave exhaled a tired sigh, his expression filled with disbelief. "Man, do you really want to die that badly? I mean, what are the chances of surviving out there with those undead creatures everywhere?"

Kai conceded, his shoulders shrugging in defeat. He stretched out on the ground, his gaze fixed on the moon above as he let out a small scoff. "Yeah, I guess that's fair."

Dave's gaze shifted from the sky to a girl waving at him from a balcony below. He raised an eyebrow in acknowledgment.

"Huh, looks like class pres is calling for us," he noted, a hint of amusement in his voice.

Kai made a dismissive gesture, his gaze still fixed on the moon. "You go ahead, I'll stay here for now... I need to have some alone time."

Dave chuckled, shaking his head as he started to leave. "Alright, man, just make sure to come back before midnight. You know how class pres gets when people are out past curfew."

Kai watched as Dave descended from the rooftop, his thoughts now returning to the solitude of the moonlit night.

"Yeah, alright, man. Go on. I need some alone time," he said, his eyes drifting back to the tranquil beauty of the night sky above.

Dave nodded in acknowledgment and left the rooftop, leaving Kai alone with his thoughts underneath the moonlit sky. silence filled the air, the only sound being the soft breeze that occasionally rustled through the surroundings.

Kai quickly snapped out of his moment of relaxation as he overheard the sounds of soldiers talking nearby. He discreetly hid himself, remaining out of sight while observing the soldiers as they smoked and exchanged words.

"God damn it, those complaining bastards," a soldier cursed as he reached for a pack of cigarettes and lit one up. They then engaged in a conversation, discussing the students that seemed to be a source of irritation for them.

The soldier lit a cigarette, taking a deep inhale as he continued venting his frustration. "I swear, those damned kids. They think they're in some shitty movie, but it's not that simple. They're just a damn headache."

Another soldier chimed in, a smirk on his face as he continued smoking. "Yeah, man, they're just a bunch of kids. But hey, it's not all bad. Some of them are really entertaining, you know? They'll do anything for their safety. And the bic***? They're quite a sight, eh~?

"Heh, you twisted bastard," the soldiers said with a smirk as he continued smoking. It was clear that these soldiers had no problem with being blunt and unfiltered in their conversations.

Meanwhile as Kai remained in his hiding spot, his anger growing as he listened to the soldiers' conversation. His hand gripped tightly, causing his own hand to bleed as he quietly whispered to himself, "These bastards..."

Kai's red crimson eyes glinted as his killing intent slowly began to rise as he listened to the soldiers continue their nonchalant conversation. It was clear that the more he heard, the more his anger and desire to harm them intensified.

Hours passed as Kai continued to watch the soldiers from his hiding spot in the shadows, remaining unnoticed as they completed their conversation. He observed every detail, taking note of their behavior and mannerisms as his anger continued to simmer.

Kai emerged from his hiding spot as the soldiers vacated the area. His eyes fell upon the discarded cigarettes and a gun one of the soldiers had left behind accidentally. His gaze fixated on the weapon, a flicker of thought crossing his mind.

Slowly, Kai picked up the pistol, his eyes fixed on the night sky. The movement of the clouds revealed the full moon, its light bathing the surroundings in a soft glow. He looked up at the moon, his thoughts momentarily transfixed on the celestial body above.

Kai spoke to the moon, his voice filled with determination. The words poured from his lips as if it were a silent plea, a secret request whispered into the night sky. "Is this a sign... for me to move? Is this a way of you giving me a chance... A chance to change our fate, a chance to become more than just livestock for those pathetic people?"

His eyes burned with a fierce glow, fueled by a desire not just to survive, but to change everything. The thought of saving his friends, family, and finding a new place to call home ignited a fire within him.
