Chapter 70 - Flying Sword

The laborer and the woman weren't actually married, but he was very fond of her. After the apocalypse, he had taken good care of her, although she hadn't agreed to be with him until now. Seizing the opportunity, he decided to make her his wife. Clearly, the woman was smart and recognized this as her chance, so she went along with it.

Once Sylas confirmed there were no more valuable talents, he took the group and left. The three doctors each brought a few people with them. Sylas didn't bother verifying if they were truly family members, considering it a benefit for the doctors.

As they reached the entrance, zombies rushed toward them. The group was startled, and some women screamed. Sylas waved his hand, releasing his scalpels. Using telekinesis, he controlled the scalpels to kill all the approaching zombies. Seeing Sylas's abilities, the group calmed down.

Sylas then brought out the iron ship and had everyone board. The group was amazed by his methods but felt more secure knowing how powerful he was. The stronger Sylas appeared, the safer they felt.

Once everyone was on the iron ship, Sylas used telekinesis to lift it into the air. Due to the large number of people, the flight was slower, but thankfully, the journey was safe, and they encountered no dangers.

They arrived back at the villa area without any issues. Sylas opened the system interface and saw that the doctor rescue mission was complete, and he received the task reward immediately. Sylas claimed the reward: master-level medical skills. He valued this reward greatly.

After all, having advanced medical skills would be highly beneficial for the future development of his base. By the time Sylas had taken care of everything, it was already evening. He decided not to go out again and instead had a hearty dinner at home. The household had grown significantly over the course of the day, making it livelier.

Sylas also checked on Monica's condition. Learning that she was significantly better put his mind at ease. Monica, being a prime candidate for a slave, was someone Sylas wouldn't neglect.

Emily ate her dinner uneasily, her mind preoccupied with Clarissa's words. She now understood that the women in the house were all Sylas's slaves. If she wanted to continue living there, she would have to become his slave too.

Sylas's terms weren't bad—he was handsome, provided protection, and ensured food. Her current comfortable life was thanks to Sylas. But she still had psychological hurdles to overcome, leaving her in a state of hesitation. Fortunately, Sylas wasn't forcing her to make an immediate decision; she had time to think.

"Oh, and tonight, make sure several of you come to my room. Like before, one at a time. I'm worried you might not be able to handle it," Sylas said suddenly, wiping his mouth with a napkin.

Even though they were all Sylas's women, they blushed at his words. Lillian, the boldest among them, laughed and asked, "Master, why do you need more tonight? Aren't we enough for you?"

Sylas replied with a meaningful smile, "I'm worried you won't be able to handle it. Tonight, I should be even stronger."

This was because Sylas's ability, Innate Strength, was set to upgrade to Level 2 tonight. Once Innate Strength reached Level 2, his body would become even stronger. If only one woman came as before, she might not be able to keep up.

He was genuinely concerned that one person wouldn't be able to handle it.

"Is it really going to be that strong?" Lillian asked with a mix of curiosity and anticipation.

"If you're not afraid, you can come alone," Sylas said with a smile.

"Who's afraid? I'll come," Lillian replied boldly, not backing down.

Sylas chuckled and didn't say more. Since they all lived in the villa, if one person couldn't handle it, he could always call for more. It wouldn't take much time.

Having filled his stomach, Sylas decided not to go out immediately. Instead, he stayed in the villa to rest and strengthen his bonds with the women. Although these women were his slaves and their lives were in his hands, they still had their own independent thoughts and feelings. It was necessary to maintain emotional connections with them.

Sylas spent time chatting and joking with the women, reinforcing their relationships. While they were talking, the sky outside turned dark. It was now the time when zombies roamed.

But it was also the time for Sylas to move. With his title of Dark Night King, he was the true ruler of the night.

Tonight, Sylas had not only the Dark Night King ability but, most importantly, his new super hearing. While super hearing didn't increase his attack power, it significantly enhanced his capabilities. With it, Sylas effectively had a radar, allowing him to always know his surroundings and plan his battles better.

"I'm heading out. Be careful," Sylas said with a smile to his women, and amid their cautions, he swiftly exited.

Outside the villa, Sylas took out his skateboard and flew off on it. The skateboard served as a medium, enabling Sylas to fly effortlessly.

His super hearing was fully activated. In the dark, Sylas enjoyed a 50% boost in combat effectiveness. Even his super hearing benefited from this enhancement. With his enhanced hearing, Sylas detected all the zombies in the vicinity. He wasn't interested in ordinary zombies; only mutant zombies caught his attention.

"Got one," Sylas murmured as he located a mutant zombie.

He immediately accelerated on his skateboard, heading toward the mutant zombie. In no time, the mutant zombie appeared before him. This was a speed-type mutant zombie, small and fast. With a flick of his wrist, Sylas sent a scalpel flying. The scalpel sliced through the zombie's neck effortlessly.

Despite its speed, the mutant zombie had no chance against Sylas's attack. Only a level 2 mutant zombie could potentially challenge him. The zombie's head flew towards Sylas as the scalpel retrieved a level 1 Energy Crystal from its brain. Sylas absorbed the crystal immediately.

Examining the scalpel in his hand, Sylas noticed a small nick on the blade. While scalpels were sharp, they were also easily damaged.

Sylas noticed that his scalpel was already damaged after only a short period of use. He also realized that scalpels were too small and inconvenient for killing zombies.

"It looks like I need to make some modifications," Sylas muttered to himself.

He took out nine more scalpels, making a total of ten. Using his modification ability, he fused them together to create a sword. This sword was peculiar, lacking a handle and consisting solely of a thin, double-edged blade. With both ends sharp, it had no distinction between front and back, allowing for attacks from either end.

The sword was fifty centimeters long with eight sharp edges, capable of both slashing and thrusting. This was Sylas's custom-made flying sword. Its design was more suitable for telekinetic control. The true test of its effectiveness would come through practical combat.

"Let's test its power," Sylas said softly. He channeled his telekinesis into the flying sword and directed it towards a group of zombies on the ground.

The flying sword's shape made it ideal for flight, more seamless to use than the previous scalpel or katana. Now it was time to test its combat effectiveness. Under Sylas's control, the flying sword turned into a flash of cold light and flew into the zombie horde.

The sword sliced through a zombie's head as easily as cutting through tofu, thanks to its sharpness and Sylas's powerful telekinesis. After piercing through one zombie's head, it flew towards another, piercing through its head as well. The whole process was smooth and effortless.

"This works perfectly, just perfect," Sylas said with a smile.

The flying sword then spun like a propeller and flew towards the remaining zombies. Any zombie it struck was instantly sliced in half. Sylas tested several techniques with the flying sword, finding it extremely effective for killing zombies in various ways.

The only drawback was that the quality of the flying sword wasn't high enough. After killing several zombies, it would start to show signs of damage. However, Sylas could use his modification ability to repair the flying sword, so it wasn't a significant issue.

After confirming the effectiveness of the flying sword, Sylas took out more scalpels and continued creating more flying swords. He made a total of ten flying swords before stopping. Since the flying swords were prone to damage, having several on hand would be convenient. Moreover, Sylas could control multiple flying swords at once. In critical moments, he could attack with all ten simultaneously.

Feeling playful, Sylas controlled the ten flying swords to kill the ordinary zombies on the ground. Controlling ten swords at once was naturally less precise than controlling just one, but the increase in power was substantial. After all, ten flying swords attacking together had immense destructive potential.

Sylas only did this as a test. Once he had satisfied his curiosity, he stopped using all ten swords simultaneously. His main task for the night was to kill more mutant zombies. He aimed to upgrade all his abilities to level 2 as quickly as possible.

Super hearing proved to be extremely effective. Sylas could detect all the zombies in the vicinity and identify the locations of the mutant zombies. Nothing could hide from his ears.

With this confidence, Sylas felt sure he could upgrade his ability, Innate Strength, to level 2 tonight.
