Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Sharks Snatching Meat

"Minister, my film is not comparable to those cheap horror and popcorn movies," Fontaine said, determined to secure funding. "If an Arab artistic film can win an award at one of the three major film festivals, its impact will be historical."

Because of his involvement in film investments, Mansour knew about the significance and influence of the European film festivals. Winning an award with an Arab film was very appealing to him, but he felt something was off about Fontaine's script.

Fontaine continued, sensing Mansour's hesitation, "Minister, you've already ventured into the film industry. The first film you invested in, 'The Purge,' is about to be released in the UAE. But Hollywood people are not trustworthy!"

Mansour had reviewed the script and investment settlement of "The Kingsman" and found Michael Davenport's work impeccable. He was skeptical of Fontaine's claims that such a person couldn't be trusted.

"Hollywood's core is commerce and profit," Fontaine argued. "Hollywood people betray the art of cinema for commercial gain. Cinema should convey culture, reflect faith, and showcase societal essence, not just provide entertainment!"

Mansour nodded slightly, though he disagreed with Fontaine's view of Michael. The idea of blending commerce and art intrigued him, so he decided to have both scripts evaluated to see if combining their strengths could enhance the film.

He handed Fontaine a copy of "The Kingsman" script. Fontaine opened it, immediately recognizing Michael Davenport's name on the cover. Resentful, he thought of the competition he faced and decided to scrutinize the script carefully.

When Mansour's car arrived at the hotel, he invited Fontaine to rest and join the evening premiere of "The Purge." Fontaine agreed, eager to assess Michael Davenport and his work.

At 5 PM, the Abu Dhabi Chieftain Theater hosted the UAE premiere of "The Purge." Many wealthy, influential, and royal guests attended, including representatives from Dubai.

Michael made a prominent appearance, walking the red carpet and embracing lead actor Mohammed in front of numerous media cameras.

An Emirates National TV reporter interviewed Michael, asking about his collaboration with Mohammed and the film's inspiration. Michael praised Mohammed's dedication and ability to fully immerse himself in the role, which resonated well with the audience and officials.

When asked about the purpose behind the film, Michael spoke about addressing violence in American society, aiming to raise awareness of the issues hidden behind the country's facade.

The reporter also inquired about discrimination against minority actors in Hollywood. Michael acknowledged its existence and expressed his commitment to fighting it, portraying himself as a champion of equality.

After the interview, Michael joined officials for a photo session before entering the VIP lounge, where he met Mansour.

Mansour appreciated Michael's detailed project plans and expressed his support for "The Kingsman." He also handed Michael Fontaine's script for review, seeking his professional opinion.

Michael agreed to review it, aware of the competitive undertone. He rejoined the VIP lounge, ready to proceed with the evening's events.
