I stood on top of the branch I had sat on, before breaking off a nearby piece of wood that looked long and wide enough to be considered a club.

"That's pretty cool,"
I looked down under me to see a monster roaming about.
[Malichyte Wolf] - Level 19 - [Not Recommended]
Confusion filled my head.
'What the fuck?'
I looked at the map.
In terms of distance, I was more closer to Euridia than the beginner city Placida, which was a solid 50 Kilometers away from me, while Euridia was only 5 Kilometers.
'I guess it makes sense,'
I looked down again to see the [Malichyte Wolf] sniffing around.
Activating [Monster Tracker] it detected no other monster around, before breathing in, waiting for the [Malichyte Wolf] to approach my tree, assuming that the wolf itself was tracking me through it's sense of smell.
[[Monster Legend] has activated.]
As it approached the tree, it looked upwards and locked eyes with me.
"..."
"HOWL-"
It howled, making noise before I swiftly dropped on the wolf raising my club, following the path of [Monster Hunter] and hitting the back of the wolf on it's neck.
A painful *crunch* sound was heard, slumping over, before breaking into pieces of translucent shards into a dead wolf body, probably to prevent too much blood from appearing.

[You have obtained the Title [Overachiever]!]
[Due to [Protagonist's Buff] the Title will be boosted!]
[Overachiever - Boosted]
- Your stats will increase by 50% when fighting an enemy with a higher level!
(This does not stack!)
'And a title too? Is this what the system meant by 'Do things a protagonist should!'?'
'First of all,'
I activated [Monster Tracker] just in case the howl it had did before I killed it attracted it's friends.
On my mini-map I saw 3 red dots approaching my position.
'Shit-!'
I started to climb the tree again, as starting the attack with a similar approach would result in only a 2v1 rather than a 3v1.
I climbed the tree much faster due to my increased stats before looking down. Three wolfs approached the dead body, sniffing it.

[[Monster Legend] has activated.]
Taking it as my only chance before they smelled my body I jumped down, following the path given by [Monster Hunter] to do the same action to the highest level wolf.
I fell down with much more force than before, due to the stat increase given by [Overachiever].
Again, a painful *crunch* was heard and the wolf slumped over, causing the other two wolfs to quickly jump away from the dead wolf due to the sudden loud noise.

Ignoring the notifications, I also jumped away from the wolf I had just killed building distance from the two wolves, raising my club.
[Monster Hunter] told me to kill the lower level wolf, noticing that it was bleeding, due to the shrapnel from by breaking club.
Eager to make it more even I quickly ran at the injured wolf, keeping track of the second wolf which seemed to attempt to flank me.
Approaching the injured wolf, who was limping as the shrapnel had stabbed through its right arm, I ran to it's left, planning to break the bone of it's left leg, putting it out of commission for the rest of the battle.
I slid next to the wolf, not being able to turn it's body fast enough and trying to reduce the vision from the second uninjured wolf before swinging the club like a baseball bat, hitting it's knee.
With a loud *crack* the injured wolf fell over, due to the sudden pain in it's legs.
Hidden from vision, I grabbed a handful of soil on my left hand, as my club broke in half due to the impact.
[Weapon Status Updated!]
[Wooden Dagger] + 3 ATK
- 70% Chance of inflicting [Splinter] unto enemy
(Will be unregistered when [Beowulf] is deactivated.)
Using [Monster Tracker] I saw that the second wolf was right behind the wolf that I had hid behind.
I threw the dirt to my left in which the second wolf ran at it, believing the movement was me.
I grabbed another fistful of dirt, throwing it into the eyes of the wolf in front of me, causing it to quickly recoil, closing it's eyes and whining, giving me an opportune moment to stab my newly made dagger into the mouth of the second wolf.
[Critical Attack!]
The wolf shattered into translucent shards before showing another dead body, a piece of wood lodged into it's mouth.
Instead of taking the piece of wood out, I grabbed onto one of the larger teeth of the wolf, before yanking it out.

[Malichyte Wolf Fang] + 20 ATK
'No special effects, huh,'
I thought, looking back to the wolf stuck not being able to walk.
It looked at me, scared.
I raised the blade before stabbing it into the side of it's head, entering the brain, killing the last monster.

'Another Title?'
I thought, putting my hand on the corpse, before another notification screen popped up.
[Would you like to collect the corpse?]
"Yes,"
I took out the fang before collecting it, which was a solid length of 20 cm.
I was also about to put the fang into my Inventory, but another notification appeared, this time red instead of the usual blue.
[Weapons created and registered through an [Avatar]'s abilities cannot be put into the Inventory!]
'I guess that makes sense,'
'I guess Polareys isn't that dumb regarding special effects,'
I thought, collecting the rest of the corpses before climbing a nearby tree to look at my stats.
[Status Screen]
Name: Para
Path: Protagonist
Avatar: Beowulf
Titles: [Overachiever][Start of a Saga]
Level: 8
HP: 100/100
MP: 30/30
PLA: 45/95
ATK: 25 (+20)
AGI: 25 (+17)
INT: 5 (+5)
DEX: 15 (+8)
Available Stat Points: 35
'Plausibility increases according to my level?'
I looked at the increased Plausibility, assuming for every level increase it would increase by 5.
'What should I increase regarding stats?'
Each level increase rewarded the player with 5 Stat points, with the beginning stat points being 50 in order to allow the player to know what build they wanted.
I looked at my boosted stats and was doing some math.
If I gained a total of another 50 stat points from having [Beowulf] as my [Avatar] than essentially I had the average stat point as a Level 11 player.
Adding on the title stat boosts along with the [Monster Legend] passive then in a scenario where I fight 2 or more wolves my status would look more like:
ATK: 95
AGI: 92
INT: 20
DEX: 53
'This could be the stats of a Level 39...'
Of course the buffs carry my stats but as it is in this forest, where the conditions could almost always be met this was perfect.
I didn't want to use any more stat points as I would probably use it to be similar to my next avatar after Beowulf.
Because in a sense I could be considered overpowered for this hunting ground, but I didn't really care.
The system considered me under leveled for this monster area, and as a result I gained much more EXP due to the level difference.
'I guess it's time for more hunting...'
