She had slept off on the bed without realizing it. The thoughts has been so vivid that she thought her head was going to collapse.
Sighs. "My head really hurts" she muttered under her breathe. Then it returned to her that Nicholas wasn't on the bed. "Where could he be?" She thought for a while, wondering if he slept on the bed at all. "Like I care" she told herself.
She stood up. A good wife should have been awake before seven in the morning to take care of her husband, so some people believes. "This is not a good way to start a marriage" she mumbled and scoffed. "Marriage my foot"
The wall mirror hung in juxtaposition with the bed. She stood in front of it, watching how messed up her hair was. "Oh, no matter what, he can't see me like this" she whispered, trying not to be heard. She entered the bathroom and first brushed her teeth. She looked herself once again in the mirror and wondered why those visions are coming to her."Does it belong to someone" she asked herself. She never believed in superstition but this, this she knows that it's only superstition can provide her with relevant answers. At the thought, her initial decision to visit her Grandma returned to her. But when is she going to go? She didn't even know how long this honey moon was going to take. It sometimes takes a month, the least she could remember. But was she going to suffer like this? For one complete month? She needed to talk to Nicholas. "Where is he anyways?"
She hurriedly took her bath, wrapped her towel around her chest and left the bath house.
"I need to sit his ass down and talk out this misery....oh my Grandma!!" She stumbled upon Nicholas, sitting strongly and not moving a bit as if no one has actually came from the bathroom.
"You startled me!" She yelled.
"It's you that startled me" he rejoindered
"huh?" She looked surprised. "Well I'm not the one looking at the direction of the bathhouse like a complete pervert"
"And I'm definitely not also the one that's been talking to herself like a mad person. Am I even sure what I married?"
"Of course you ain't.."
"What were you mumbling about?"
"Sorry?"
"At least I could decipher something from your ravings. I mean, like, sitting my ass down and..."
"No, I didn't mean it that way" she stood embarrassed.
"Then tell me what you meant wife"
The title stung her a bit, especially coming from the mouth of this beast. Yes, he's a beast. How she longed to ask him the reason he nearly killed his classmate. Everything about him is so horrid and yet, there he's sitting, with an awful temper but innocent looking eyes. Those eyes betrayed his entire demeanor. It told a different story about him, one she can't perfectly lay fingers on.
"Nothing. I mean nothing" she said, returning to her senses, reminding herself that those eyes could be deceitful. "How many women has he deceived with those eyes" she thought to herself.
"Now groom yourself to be well mannered in my house, understood?" He stood up to leave again.
"The thing is.." she halted him. "I....I was thinking of going to see my Grandma"He turned his gaze back to her. Fear gripped her."No, I don't mean that I..that I don't like it here but it's been a while since I've seen her, so I was thinking it is penitent to go and see her" she spoke rather fast.
He looked at her for a while. There, standing still with her towel. Her shoulders emitted light, showing the beauty and lightness of her skin. She was delicate, like a flower that needs protection. But all those doesn't concern him. Everything was arranged!
"What does that have to do with me?"
"Excuse me?"
"You could go see whomever, sleep there even, I'll be glad if you rid me of your inconvenience" he left finally.
"That scumbag" she thought in her mind. But happy as well. She now has the leverage to leave. She happily sat in front of the mirror to comb her hair and style it the way she wanted. Doing that brought back memories of her mom. She thought her everything she needs to know. After, she took out her violet dress and slid into it. Made herself up and looked once again in the mirror. "I have to look good for Old bloom" she told herself.
She finally wore her shoes, took a few things, presents to be exact, and carefully moved outside the house. She had wanted to tell him that she's leaving. Now, he always wanders off without notice. Lily never wanted to waste more time, the visions tormented her throughout the night, both blur and clear ones and she needed answers. So she moved regardless till she reached the main road. How she missed the scent of the road, oh yes, the road has a unique scent for Lily. She waved down a cab and made way her to her hometown at Hastings Mill.
Her family compound was quite a never fading beauty. Her father, Adonijah made it so that it has every feeling of traditional village setting with brooks and gardens with orchards and different kinds of plants. Lily used to and still love the air around her family compound where her Grandma resides.
"Grandma?" She called as she reached the door. It creaked from the inside as if someone was unbolting it. Then it opened.
"Young bloom!" Her Grandma screamed as soon as she saw her.
"Grandma!"
"Oh, growing flower, how I've missed you"
"I'm no more growing, I'm grown!" Lily frowned.
"Alright, grown flower" they laughed. "So why have you come?"
"I came to see you"
"Not without reasons" the old woman knew. She has grown lean.
"You heard about my parents"
"Poor Felicia. She's gone"
"And dad is in comma"
"Don't worry lad. I know my son. She will fight it"
"But grandma.."
"Of course I know that's not the actual reason" she chuckled.
Sighs. "Uhm.. grandma"
"Oh please, spit it out Lily"
"I'm having visions" she divulged.
"Visions?" The old woman said perplexed."What visions?"
"I'm seeing things. Strange images and I have myself in them"
"You see yourself?"
"Yes Grandma. It happens at heart throbbing situations. When I'm most nervous or anxious or anything. Like at the peak of emotions, it happens, like a deja Vu. Things I've done before or being through before "
"A trans." She uttered as if realizing what it is. "When did it start?"
"The day I got married. As soon as I saw this guy, it came "
"Yeah." The woman cut in. "I heard you collapsed out of fatigue or stress, whatever the press called it. Young bloom, ah sorry, grown bloom, how you never told me of your marriage?"
"Grandma, it happened so fast" she said with a gloomy face.
"Don't mind me my dear. So it began as soon as you met him"
"Yes ma" she answered with deep sense of curiosity.
"Just immediately things started turning " the woman mumbled.
"Huh?"
"The visions Lily, how is it. Happy, sad,..."
"It's sad, all sad. I see myself crying, collapsing and the rest"
"Rebirth"
"What?"
"You were reborn"
"A first life. Does that make sense?" Lily became confused.
"You came to me cause you knew these vision can only be interpreted with what you call superstition. You have to believe me now"
She was right. That's why she thought of her."So grandma, what I'm living is a second life?"
"Exactly Bloom. Now you're beginning to make sense to me"
"What do you mean by that?" Lily asked, with an interesting look.
"Lily" she called. "You are never my son's daughter "
"Grandma "
"You're an adoptee"
Lily was caught between her breathe. That wasn't the news she hoped for. She never saw that coming.
"My son never fathered a child before Floria. He was growing nervous, especially with his public figure status so the only way was adoption. I'm sorry you have to know this now "
"It can't be" Lily bursted out in tears. "So, does that have anything to do with my visions? That my father is not my father" she wailed.
"It does, Bloom. Not knowing your Origin and dating from your adoption, you might not have had the best life in the past which is about to repeat now"
"Repeat?" She asked.
"Do you believe me Bloom?"
"Do I have an option?" She asked rhetorically
"Then, since the visions started when things went south in your life, you must never allow things to normalize now"
"What?"
"To avoid total repetition, we have to know everything "
"Is there a tool? One which can show me everything?"
"There are tools, that which are not in my custody. Which I do not know if it still exists. But I have a thread"
"A thread?"
"Yes. A thread is a clue. That which reminds you of a life you have lived before. It varies for so many. For you, I think It's bad situations"
"Why bad?"
"Those visions didn't come when you chased your passion and lived well only to surface now. It means your life in the past was not very sleek and that guy, he is the mirror into your past"
"My mirror "
"Your life might have thwarted, ended at most because of him. Maybe you never fared well with him. Now you still don't have to so as to find out everything "
"I have to live miserably?" She asked, shocked at the things she was hearing.
"Not miserably actually. Now that you're living with him, lock your heart to not get swayed by him. If things ever start to go well with you both, that thread is lost and you never can tell what will happen to you"
"Pretend?"
"Anyone. Do not try to get on his good sides. Now that you're aware of this visions, it will try to disappear, do not allow it"
"Thank you grandma "
Lily spent some few hours with her before she returned to her home. She reluctantly opened the door and walked in knowing fully well Nicholas doesn't like staying indoors. She has been shocked to the core. Adonijah wasn't her father? She couldn't take it. She opened the door to her room, stumbling upon Nicholas who wore only his boxer shorts. He widened his eyes in embarrassment. Who has he married for crying out loud that doesn't know how to knock before opening a door?!Lily however was stung upon admiration. Nicholas has such a perfect body to die for! With abs and muscles, filling her senses with everything humanly. The figure in front of her was with no iota of doubt, enthralling.
She remembered her grandma's words. How could she even lock her heart when she would literally sleep in one bed with this fellow one day. When Nicholas was temptation himself.
"Is that even possible?" She thought to herself.
