At this time, Gyarados did not exhibit the temper of a tyrant in the water. Although he had evolved and his temper had intensified, Gyarados was no stranger to Ash.
On the contrary, the bond between them seemed to have deepened. Magikarp was different. In fact, even Pikachu met Ash after Magikarp.
"Pika pika!!"
Pikachu also ran over, jumped on Gyarados, and used Gyarados' body as a slide.
"Thank you so much, Ash!"
Although it was a mess, it was nothing the gym couldn't handle. Perhaps the Cerulean Gym is one of the weaker gyms in the Kanto Region, but it's also one of the most profitable.
"It's all right; we just helped out," Ash responded calmly.
He couldn't just stand by and let Team Rocket go unchallenged, though their appearance was a bit of a surprise. In the anime, they showed up when he was battling Misty, but here, he was up against the three Cerulean sisters instead.
Because of what happened at Mt. Moon, he thought they wouldn't appear, and there hadn't been any reports of theft in the city. He didn't expect them to show up after the gym battle. Fortunately, he and Brock had come back in time.
"Misty, what's wrong? Are you hurt?" At this moment, Misty seemed a bit down, sitting by Starmie without saying a word. Ash couldn't help but ask when he saw this.
"No, thank you, Ash, but I... I couldn't do anything."
Misty blamed herself while holding Starmie. If Ash and Brock hadn't arrived in time, the Pokémon in the gym would have been in danger.
"It doesn't matter. If you're not strong enough yet, you can improve slowly, but the desire to protect your Pokémon and the gym is essential."
"Don't worry, if you want to get stronger, I'll train with you anytime!" Ash said, walking over to comfort her.
"Thank you, Ash!" Misty was deeply moved by his words, while the three older sisters in the back exchanged knowing smiles, feeling more and more that this little brother was quite charming.
After a while, Officer Jenny rushed to the scene with several police officers. Not only was there an incident at the Cerulean Gym, but someone outside had also noticed the commotion earlier and called the police.
When they arrived, Daisy explained the situation to Officer Jenny, who then provided more details.
They were still investigating the recent theft. It turned out that while Ash was waiting for the three Cerulean sisters to retrieve their Pokémon, Team Rocket had stolen a large water pump and a large water pipe from a store in Cerulean City.
They hadn't yet identified the culprits, and they didn't expect there to be trouble at the Cerulean Gym. Now, both incidents were cleared up.
Unfortunately, Team Rocket had already fled, and Officer Jenny immediately ordered a search. As for the water pump, it was damaged, but Ash wasn't to blame.
After all, they were dealing with a Pokémon poaching group; it was impossible to also protect the equipment. Daisy said they would handle the situation with the machine.
Officer Jenny took some notes and had her team clean up the scene. As for Ash and the others, there was nothing more for them to do here.
As agreed, Misty took Brock out for a walk for a while, and that night, Ash and Brock returned to the Pokémon Center, while Misty stayed at the gym.
**The Next Day**
Early the next morning, Ash and Brock got up, had breakfast at the Pokémon Center, and asked Nurse Joy to check on their Pokémon once more. After packing up, they checked out.
With the Cascade Badge in hand, the next goal was naturally the Vermilion City Gym, so Ash didn't plan to stay long and was eager to continue his journey.
Vermilion City is quite far from Cerulean City, so Ash wanted to get an early start.
"Sisters, you don't need to see us off. We're heading out now!" Ash and Brock stopped by the Cerulean Gym to say goodbye to Misty.
"Misty, you have to work hard! Otherwise, not only are you not as beautiful as us, but even your Pokémon..." Although it was time to say goodbye, Lily didn't seem too worried or reluctant.
Instead, she resumed teasing Misty as she usually did. But deep down, these remarks were meant to motivate her. Seeing Misty protecting the gym and Pokémon had already earned her their respect.
"No way, I'm way more beautiful than you!!" Misty shouted, not backing down.
"Okay, okay, don't worry!" Violet responded with a smile.
"Alright, Misty, be careful. Ash, Brock, please take care of my sister," Daisy chimed in, gently instructing them as she looked at Ash and Brock.
"Of course, don't worry! We'll take our leave now," Ash replied, then turned around with Brock and said goodbye to Misty.
"Sister Daisy, I'm leaving now. Next time I return, I'll be a great Trainer," Misty said as she joined Ash and Brock.
Leaving Cerulean City behind, Ash knew that the real adventure lay ahead. Cerulean City and Pewter City were just the beginning, like starting points for novice Trainers.
Beyond these cities, Ash expected to encounter not only more Pokémon but also many more Trainers. On their first day after leaving Cerulean City, Ash met several Trainers. Seeing Pikachu with him, they recognized Ash as a Trainer.
Throughout the day, Ash defeated more than a dozen Trainers, and by nightfall, the group set up camp in the wild.
The next morning, before Brock and Misty woke up, Ash was up early and roused Pikachu as well. Even though he had already won two badges, Ash hadn't slacked off in his training.
His Pokémon had become accustomed to Ash's training routine and could feel their strength increasing.
"Pikachu, let's continue yesterday's training today!" Ash said, ready to start the day.
