"Gym challenge?"

After hearing Ash's intentions, the three sisters were a little surprised. Judging by their expressions, they had probably forgotten that their place was a Gym.

"So that's it! But we don't have any fighting spirit left." Violet, the second sister, leaned back and put her hands behind her head, showing no interest in battling.

"And you brought an Electric-type Pokémon, Pikachu. We definitely can't win against that."

Lily, the third sister, glanced at Pikachu, who looked just as discouraged. It's common knowledge that Electric-type Pokémon have an advantage over Water-types.

They weren't feeling motivated to battle, and seeing Pikachu's lack of enthusiasm only made it worse.

"Why are you giving up so easily? As Gym Trainers, how can you just throw in the towel like that?"

Brock, a former Gym Leader himself, couldn't hide his frustration. His eyes burned with determination as he spoke sternly to them.

"It's not that we want to give up, but... we were just beaten by some trainers from Pallet Town not long ago."

Ash was a bit speechless when he heard this. Pallet Town really seemed to produce strong trainers who challenge others wherever they go. He figured the progress here was quick, but he hadn't expected them to be even faster. Gary must have been the first to arrive, but it seemed Blue and the others moved quickly too.

"How can a Gym Trainer give up because of a little setback?" Brock's determination hadn't wavered, and he was still fired up.

"Even so, there's nothing we can do! Our Pokémon are all recovering at the Pokémon Center! Besides, we're busy every day with beauty routines, so we don't have time to train our Pokémon!"

The three sisters said this as if it were perfectly normal. Brock, though no longer in his nymphomaniac mode, couldn't stand the idea of having Pokémon but not properly training them.

"How can you—"

Just as he was about to argue further, Ash placed a hand on his shoulder, shaking his head to stop him.

Brock was surprised that Ash, who usually shared his passion, would stop him. He didn't understand why Ash was holding him back.

"They won't listen to reason," Ash said, gesturing towards the sisters, who were preoccupied with their beauty routines.

Ash didn't like seeing people who were irresponsible with their Pokémon, but he understood that everyone had their own priorities. While he didn't mind helping those who could be saved, it was clear to him that the three sisters were beyond that—they were too obsessed with their appearance and performances.

For people who don't care about their Pokémon, the situation is more complicated if the Pokémon themselves are content. The Pokémon here might not be the strongest, but they lived comfortably and even enjoyed performing with the sisters. There was no need to interfere.

Brock looked at the three sisters, and finally calmed down. Ash was right; it was pointless to argue after seeing how indifferent they were. But Brock couldn't help it—it was in his nature as a Gym Leader to care.

"So, there's no way to have a battle at the Gym right now, right? I can wait for your Pokémon to recover," Ash said, stepping in front of Brock, interrupting the sisters' self-admiration.

"Well... you have Pikachu here, so we definitely can't win. That's it! You came to the Gym for a Badge, so I'll just give you one!"

Daisy snapped out of her daydream and led Ash and Brock to the pool. "Seel!"

With a splash, a pure white Pokémon with a sharp horn on its head, resembling a baby sea lion, jumped out of the pool. It opened its mouth and revealed a drop-shaped Badge on its tongue.

"This is the Cascade Badge. Take it!" Without any hesitation, she handed the Badge to Ash.

"Wait a moment!!"

A familiar voice echoed through the Gym, causing Brock to freeze in surprise.

From the stands, a figure jumped down and landed in front of everyone. "Sister Daisy, how can you hand over a Badge without a Gym Challenge?"

"M-Misty?" Both the three Cerulean sisters and Brock were surprised to see who it was.

"Ash, I'm sorry I kept this from you. The truth is, I'm the youngest of the four Sensational Sisters," Misty said shyly, looking at Ash.

Ash had saved her and taken care of her along their journey, yet she had kept this secret, and it made her feel a bit embarrassed.

"I know!" Ash responded nonchalantly, spreading his hands to show that he was already aware.

"Ah? You... how did you know?" Misty was surprised. She was sure she hadn't let it slip.

"Well, you use Water-type Pokémon, and when you mentioned heading to Cerulean City, something didn't add up. I just put two and two together." Of course, Ash couldn't exactly say he knew because of the plot, so he offered a reasonable explanation.

"So you already knew." Misty felt a bit embarrassed but also relieved that Ash had figured it out on his own.

"What four Cerulean Sisters? It's the three Cerulean Sisters and the ugly duckling!" Lily, the third sister, suddenly jumped in, taking a jab at Misty.

Misty's expression darkened. She wanted to stand up to them but hesitated. Deep down, she had always felt a bit inferior to her three older sisters.

The older sisters had been doted on and were always graceful and elegant, while Misty had been more like a tomboy, rough around the edges. Because of this, she had grown up feeling overshadowed by them.

"That's not important. Why did you come back so soon?" Daisy, the eldest sister, was the only one mature enough not to mock Misty over her appearance.

"Who was the one who bragged that she wouldn't return until she became a great Pokémon Trainer?" Violet, the second sister, added, taking her turn to tease.

Because they didn't see Misty as being as beautiful as they were, the older sisters often felt embarrassed to even mention that they had a fourth sister.
