Chapter 38 - 38. Samurai Boy

As soon as Ash helped Pidgeotto untie the silk threads from its body, he introduced his companions.

"Pidgeotto, these are my Pokémon. This is Pikachu, Metapod, Caterpie who just fought you, Magikarp over there in the river, and this is my friend Misty."

Ash gestured towards Magikarp, which made a special splash and jumped out of the water for Pidgeotto to see. Pidgeotto's eyes finally fell on Metapod.

Though Metapod had evolved, it still felt like the Caterpie that had defeated Pidgeotto. However, Metapod wasn't hostile, maintaining its gentle personality and squinting its eyes as if smiling.

"Pidgeotto, we will be partners from now on! Let's get along well and become stronger together!" Ash said, noticing Pidgeotto's gaze.

Raaa~~

Pidgeotto let out a cry, acknowledging Ash's words. It realized that Caterpie's victory was due to the Trainer in front of it.

When Ash suggested they become stronger together, Pidgeotto agreed and accepted Ash as its Trainer, along with his companions.

Misty also came to help untie the silk threads from Pidgeotto's body, as they were troublesome to remove from the feathers.

Soon, Pidgeotto regained its former glory. Ash fed it a few Oran Berries and treated it with a healing spray. The injury wasn't serious. Capturing Pokémon in reality is a bit different from in the game. You can't see a health bar, but you can prevent the opponent's actions through fighting. Status Conditions can make them more submissive. In reality, skills like String Shot can bind the opponent, not just slow them down.

Pidgeotto wasn't badly hurt, only receiving a Tackle. The String Shot had immobilized it, so it didn't struggle much when entering the Poké Ball. The speed reduction from String Shot in the game isn't a Status Condition. Pidgeotto recovered quickly. Ash cleaned up the camp and then used the Poké Ball to recall Pidgeotto, Magikarp, and Metapod. After evolving, Metapod was larger and heavier, making it inconvenient to carry outside the Poké Ball.

"Okay, let's go!" Ash said happily. Today's harvest was good; he had captured Pidgeotto early in the morning. They continued their journey in high spirits.

After Ash's guidance, Misty became much less afraid of Pokémon. This improvement quickened their pace significantly.

They walked through the forest for a few hours without noticing the time. It was almost noon, and they were thinking of stopping to rest for a while.

"Huh? Ash, look over there," Misty said, spotting an open space behind some trees. Upon closer inspection, they saw a wooden hut.

"Why is there a house here?" Misty asked in doubt before Ash could speak.

"It was probably built by a Trainer practicing here!" Ash responded.

Misty nodded slightly, Thinking who would like to stay in such a place that was full of bugs.

"Let's rest here!" Ash suggested.

Although they couldn't enter the house, they could rest in the open space nearby.

"Okay! I don't know if anyone is in the room," Misty said as she and Ash walked over.

"Is anyone there?" Misty yelled when they reached the hut, but there was no response.

"Huh?" Misty was puzzled by the absence of anyone. Ash paused for a moment and frowned.

"What's wrong?" Misty asked, confused.

"Help!!!!"

They suddenly heard a panicked cry for help from the forest. Misty saw a figure quickly running, with several flying Pokémon chasing them.

Buzz buzz!!!

From far away, they could hear a screech that pierced their brains. They saw a figure thrown out in the forest. A young man, dressed in warrior armor, ran out in panic, followed by the buzzing Pokémon.

They looked like hornets but were dozens of times larger. They had four limbs and huge silver conical needles on their front limbs. Their bodies were three-segmented, with round heads, pointed hooked mouths, huge red eyes, and a pair of antennae. The smallest part was from the neck to the waist. The tail was the largest, with two black rings and a yellow spike at the end. They had four-winged web wings.

"Ah! It's Beedrill!!" Misty was startled when she saw the Pokémon chasing the strangely dressed boy. It was the bug Pokémon she feared the most.

"Pikachu, use Thunder Shock!" Ash commanded immediately.

Pikachu rushed out, electricity sparking from its cheeks. It released a strong electric current that swept out like a golden whip.

Bang bang bang!!!

The electric current hit the Beedrill in the air. Several Beedrill were instantly stunned and let out pained cries. As Pikachu's power increased, their bodies fainted one after another. Smoke filled the air, and the remaining Beedrill frantically flew away, some with parts of their bodies scorched.

Fortunately, there weren't many Beedrill. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been so easy to deal with them.

"Phew... saved!!" The boy in samurai armor finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Are you okay?" Misty asked. The samurai boy, panting on his knees, suddenly raised his head, his eyes flashing as he reached for his waist.
