"Professor, are you okay?"
Seeing this, Ash was speechless for a moment. He often said there were many powerful Pokémon in the world, but sometimes it felt like people underestimated just how strong they could be. What could be stronger than Professor Oak and even Ash himself? Honestly, the Professor seemed almost invincible in most situations.
"Uh... no... it's nothing, just a little dizzy. Don't worry!" Professor Oak raised his hand from the ground, waving it dismissively at the TV screen.
The mysterious light didn't cause any physical harm but left its target in a state of confusion. Meanwhile, the Devileon turned its gaze toward Ash, holding back from making a move.
"Devileon..."
The creature arrogantly turned its head away, pawing at the ground with its front feet and scratching its mane with its hind legs, exuding a defiant attitude.
It took a moment for Professor Oak to recover from the confused state. He stood up, rubbing his head. Ash looked at the Professor, still a bit speechless, but at least he now understood what had happened. The Devileon had learned the move **Confuse Ray**.
"Professor, you should focus on your research first!"
"Alright, I'll get started right away. It might take a while, but I'll contact you as soon as I have more information." Professor Oak nodded, shaking off the lingering dizziness.
"Sorry for the trouble, Professor!" Ash replied before ending the call.
After the call, Misty and Brock woke up. They found Ash and learned that he had spoken with Professor Oak. Without much to add, the three of them headed to the Pokémon Center's restaurant for breakfast.
Once they had eaten, the trio left to buy supplies for their next journey. They returned to the Pokémon Center three hours later, their bags full of essentials. As they arrived, Nurse Joy informed Ash that Professor Oak had contacted him.
Setting down their belongings, Ash hurried to the videophone and dialed Professor Oak's laboratory.
"Professor, it's Ash! How's the research going?"
"Ah, Ash!" Professor Oak's face appeared on the screen, looking much more focused now.
"I've gathered the basic information. I'll display it for you now." Professor Oak began working at his console, and soon a detailed form appeared on the screen.
**Devileon**
- Height: 1.1m
- Weight: 31.8kg
- Type: Ghost
- Ability: Cursed Body
Ash studied the data carefully. It matched his earlier suspicions—this Pokémon was either a Ghost or Dark type. With the confirmation from Professor Oak, it turned out to be Ghost.
"These are the basics. As for the moves it can learn, that will depend on its training. Over time, you'll discover more through cultivation and experience," Professor Oak explained.
After sending over the information, Professor Oak added, "It's up to Trainers like you to unlock its potential and explore what it can truly do."
"So, this is Eevee's Ghost evolution!" Ash exclaimed, his eyes lighting up in excitement.
Misty and Brock were equally amazed as they studied the information. The Ghost type always carried an air of mystery, and seeing Eevee take this unusual evolutionary path was a revelation.
"Eevee's evolutions have always been tied to various elemental affinities, but evolving into a Ghost type is something completely different," Brock said, scratching his head in thought.
"Yeah," Misty added. "The Normal type and Ghost type are opposites—they even cancel each other out. Who would've thought an evolution like this could exist?"
Professor Oak nodded thoughtfully. "Indeed. Currently, there's no record of this Pokémon, so I'll need to document and register it properly. Ash, I'd like you to explain the evolution process to me in detail."
To register the Pokémon with the Pokémon League and classify it as a new Eevee evolution, understanding its evolution conditions was essential.
"The thing is..." Ash began, recounting the events without omitting anything.
After hearing the explanation, Professor Oak's face lit with curiosity. "I see! So, it was the **Dusk Stone**. That's why you're calling it a Devileon. Fascinating! But it's strange—many Trainers have tried using Dusk Stones on Eevee before, and it never worked."
Ash tilted his head, recalling the peculiar situation. "I'm not entirely sure, but maybe... it was because of the lingering **Grudge** energy in its body?"
"That's plausible." Professor Oak stroked his chin. "Under normal circumstances, Ghost energy doesn't affect Normal Pokémon like Eevee. But if the Grudge energy was unusually strong, it could create a rare resonance with the Dusk Stone."
He paused, formulating a hypothesis. "Perhaps Eevee had to be severely injured and in a near-death state—what you described as its 'dying Condition.' In that vulnerable state, the Dusk Stone might have reacted with the Grudge energy, triggering this evolution."
Ash nodded slowly, visualizing the scene in his mind. "Yeah, it all felt like a coincidence, but that explanation makes sense."
Professor Oak made a note of this. "If that's the case, this evolution requires two specific conditions: the presence of powerful Ghost energy, like Grudge, and Eevee being in a critical state. Either condition alone might not suffice—it's likely a combination of the two."
He straightened up, resolved. "Thank you, Ash. I'll compile this information and register this Pokémon in the Pokédex. I'll also report it to the Pokémon League for official documentation."
"One more thing, Ash. Please keep an eye on its development. Observing its growth will help us complete its profile," Professor Oak added.
"Got it!" Ash replied confidently.
"Good. I'll send the Devileon back to you now."
Professor Oak retrieved the Poké Ball containing the Devileon and placed it in the teleporter. Moments later, Ash received it at his end.
"Received! Thanks, Professor!"
"You're welcome. If anything, I should be thanking you—this discovery is groundbreaking," Professor Oak replied with a warm smile.
After exchanging a few more words, they ended the call. Once the screen went dark, Professor Oak leaned back with a thoughtful sigh.
"Ash... That boy never ceases to amaze me," he mused aloud. "This evolutionary route is groundbreaking, but it's also bound to be one of the most difficult to replicate."
He shook his head, smiling wryly. "Finding a Ghost with such powerful Grudge energy is rare enough, but no decent Trainer would willingly push their Pokémon to the brink of death just to achieve this evolution. It's almost impossible to recreate."
With that, Professor Oak returned to his work, already compiling data for what was sure to be one of the most unique entries in the Pokédex.
