Chapter 16: I Am Destiny
Boom!
In the past, Locke always thought that when a car blew a tire and took off, it was just a movie effect.
But now?
Locke realized it was real.
With the loss of the right rear wheel, the fiery red sports car jumped into the air instantly. At that moment, a man and a woman hurriedly opened the doors and jumped out!
Bang!
Locke drifted to avoid the derailed wheel.
But the Raptor pickup following wasn't so lucky. The wheel hit the windshield of the Raptor pickup with a thud, creating sparks.
"Boom!"
"Puff!"
Locke raised his eyebrows and stabilized his car.
In the next second, Locke saw Cross aiming a pistol through the shattered windshield.
"Bang bang bang!"
"Crack!"
Locke ducked, and the windshield shattered instantly.
The next second, Locke opened his door, stepped out, and drove the Raptor pickup just as Cross rammed into it.
Boom!
The Raptor pickup overturned Locke's Audi R8, sending it tumbling onto the grass, where it exploded.
Cross stepped out of the Raptor pickup, grabbing Wesley, who had just regained his footing.
"Boom!"
"Wow!"
A bullet went straight through Cross's arm.
But...
Cross didn't flinch, grabbed Wesley, and the Raptor pickup roared away, the accelerator pressed to the floor.
It seemed Cross was telling Locke that he only wanted Wesley.
Locke squinted his eyes, watching Cross carry his prey away.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
Locke refocused, looking at Firefox, who was shooting at him. He knocked out the bullet shot by Firefox and shifted his attention back to her.
When I finish cleaning up here, I will deal with you.
Locke moved his neck, put on his sunglasses, and stared at Firefox with an expressionless face.
The next second, they engaged in a close gunfight!
The bullets seemed to collide in mid-air, all falling harmlessly.
After twelve rounds, the outcome was clear.
Locke won.
Because...
He didn't need to reload, but Firefox did!
"Boom!"
"Bang!"
The silver pistol in Firefox's hand was hit, flying out of her grip.
The next second, another bullet hit Firefox in the knee, bringing her down.
How foolish.
Who fights in melee with you?
Locke smirked, watching Firefox fall, her once icy demeanor now that of a defeated street girl. She looked up at Locke, seemingly wanting to say something.
Locke smiled: "I don't like talking nonsense!"
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
A blood flower blossomed on Firefox's chest, spreading with the warmth of her blood. The light in her eyes dimmed.
Clearly, Locke had fired.
The intent to kill was unstoppable!
Locke liked beautiful women, a common flaw in men.
But...
He wouldn't like them unconditionally, especially not if they were kneeling before him.
He cherished flowers but wouldn't hesitate to destroy them if necessary.
"Lay down your weapon!"
"..."
Locke, still wearing his sunglasses, turned to see George Stacy, who had arrived with the main force. George aimed his pistol at Locke: "Now, now!"
Locke smiled.
Another classic movie scene.
The police are always late!
"What if I don't?"
"...what?"
Locke, in his suit and sunglasses, was confident George wouldn't recognize him. He looked at George with a smile: "I said, what if I don't? Look around, your backup hasn't arrived yet."
George looked wary: "Sin Hunter, you are under arrest."
Locke laughed.
The Texas Police and the FBI's Psychological Crime Unit had been investigating the Sin Hunter for two years without uncovering his true identity. How could George say that?
Locke shook his head, ready to leave.
He still had to go after Cross.
No one...
could snatch his prey.
Locke glanced at the unfinished task. Obviously, Firefox had come for Wesley. Since there were two people, the task needed to be completed.
Not even one person could be left.
"Boom!"
"Stop!"
Locke looked at the sparks three meters from his toes, then at George: "I don't want to kill you."
The tragedy of the Gwen family was to be caused by Spider-Man, not him.
Locke couldn't, right after complaining about not being a spider, turn around and kill George.
Gwen would be heartbroken.
In Texas, Gwen had been one of the few friends who reached out to him.
"I'm a policeman!"
"Good."
Locke's ears twitched, hearing the approaching backup.
Enough time.
But...
Locke looked at the helicopter above.
Shoot!
Boom!
Boom!
The helicopter's window shattered, and it pulled away instantly.
Locke looked at George, smiling softly: "Do you think your gun is faster, or mine?"
George looked wary.
Locke chuckled: "It's been a long day, Sheriff Stacy. Go home."
George's face changed.
But...
He didn't move.
Locke sighed: "You shoot."
George frowned.
Locke looked at George: "Either you shoot now, or wait for your backup. Guess how many bullets I have left, and how many of your colleagues I can kill before they get to me?"
Locke had no qualms about killing bad guys.
But...
He wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone who stood in his way.
The system had said it.
He was destiny!
Anyone blocking destiny was a villain, and killing villains was justified.
So...
Locke looked at George: "Can you gamble, Sheriff George Stacy?"
If George dared to shoot.
Locke would respond.
Of course...
He would end George's life if George shot a second time.
Without hesitation.
Locke might give George a chance because of Gwen.
But never a second chance!
He would never forgive anyone trying to kill him.
He wanted to live.
Live forever!
I am destiny!
Destiny is with me!
