As the crowd waited for the bride and groom to appear, all eyes fixed on the paths where they would enter. Ajax walked down one path with his servant, Lobo, at his side, while Willow approached from the other direction, accompanied by a maid. The moment they entered, every eye turned toward them. Some marveled at their beauty, others admired their perfectly matched attire, while the muscle-bound guests compared the two in terms of strength. An older woman murmured to a friend, "It's like a tiger taking a cub."
Among the onlookers were those who had once loved Willow from afar, now staring daggers at Ajax, feeling envy twist into resentment. Some of them silently vowed to punish him, if ever given the chance.
As Ajax and Willow walked, his gaze turned to her, and his heart began to race. Her long white hair, red lips, snow-white eyes, and perfectly poised presence made her seem like a dream. Though Ajax barely knew her, he silently pledged his loyalty, vowing to protect her until his last breath. Yet, a flickering image of Flora and Baillie surfaced in his mind, and he felt a pang of uncertainty—could he truly uphold this oath?
When the paths converged, Ajax and Willow walked side by side, their hands nearly brushing as they moved forward. Jealous glances from around the hall seemed to pierce Ajax like arrows, but he kept his gaze steady. Meanwhile, the live broadcast streamed their every step to those watching from afar, and Ajax's face was now known across many domains.
At the stage, a woman clad in pure white robes awaited them. Her clothing concealed her form entirely, leaving her figure a mystery. She took Ajax and Willow by the hands, guiding them to the center of the stage. On either side of the couple stood Willow's family, with Liam in the center, his expression calm but watchful.
The woman in white raised her arms and began a sacred chant. "God of Beginnings and God of Endings, hear my words, hear my prayer." A beam of dazzling light descended upon her, bathing her in golden hues as her white robes shifted to shimmering gold. She lifted her voice, invoking, "Bless this couple in holy union!"
With her words, a golden chain broke through the void and connected Willow and Ajax, linking their hearts with a powerful bond. In that instant, some of Ajax's bitter memories surfaced in Willow's mind, and as she absorbed them, a look of sorrow flickered across her face. She looked gently into his eyes and asked, "Do these memories still linger, and do you still despise me because of them?"
For a moment, Ajax hesitated, feeling the weight of her question.
Willow gazed into Ajax's eyes and said softly, "Don't worry. I won't betray you in the name of beauty or power. I will always stand beside you, no matter what." She gently took his hand, intertwining her fingers with his. At first, Ajax hesitated, but as he listened to her words, he let his defenses down, clasping her hand in return.
Realizing that she had glimpsed parts of his past, Ajax murmured, "I understand… but I don't know if I can hold true to a promise to marry only one person." Willow tightened her grip, memories of Flora and Baillie briefly flashing through her mind, but she smiled and replied, "I won't restrict you, but you must promise—no other woman in this abyss, and no other relationship outside of me. Agreed?"
Ajax exhaled, feeling relief, and smiled back at her. "Agreed," he said simply, feeling a warmth rise within him. Looking at Willow, he saw a fierceness in her gaze, a deep obsession that somehow felt comforting. She was a force unlike any he had ever known, and he realized he could never see anyone else in the same way. Even if he were tempted, no woman could match Willow's beauty, strength, or devotion.
Just then, a familiar voice resounded in his mind. "Hmm… well, I see someone's bound by a godly marriage contract now," Ceil commented with a hint of amusement.
Ajax replied lazily, "Yes, that's my wife, Willow."
"Your wife?" Ceil scoffed. "And here I am, only just waking up, and you didn't even think to explain things to me?"
Ajax chuckled but then said firmly, "Why should I? You go into hibernation for 290 years and only wake up now? If you wanted me to keep you updated, maybe you should show up when I need you."
Sensing Ajax's irritation, Ceil's tone softened. "Aren't you curious what this godly marriage contract really entails?"
Ajax's curiosity flickered but then faded as he said, "It's a binding connection that lets us share emotions and memories with each other. That's all I need to know."
As Ceil's laughter echoed, he said, "You naive boy, listen up. This contract does much more than you realize. It gives the wife control over her husband—she can add limitations, teleport him to her location, even see through his eyes without him knowing. The catch? She's bound to remain loyal to only one partner, with no intimate connections allowed outside this bond."
Stunned, Ajax processed Ceil's words. A question rose within him. "How do you know all of this?"
Ceil laughed heartily, his voice rich with amusement. "Ha! Because I helped create it, lad. Long ago, I worked on this very contract with a goddess friend of mine. Back then, men—especially gods—were rarely loyal, causing constant strife among the goddesses. There were far more goddesses than gods, and whenever a god achieved something remarkable, it was common for other goddesses to swoop in, vying for his attention and love."
Ceil chuckled, reminiscing. "So, when my friend faced this issue, she came to me, and together we forged this bond—one that would ensure loyalty. Ironically, after all our hard work, she hardly even looked at it and went on to ban it altogether. And I, cursed with irony, was forbidden from using it in my own marriage!"
Ceil's laughter erupted again, filling Ajax's mind. "But now, here you are, boy, bound by the very contract I helped create ages ago. You really have some luck, don't you?"
