'Ugyaaaahhhh!!!' Lux's mind screamed in ecstasy.
'The waffles had a crispy exterior and a soft interior! Moreover, their sweetness came from the perfect blend of syrup's savory flavor with the rich taste of caramelized butter and sugar!' Lux thought, being mesmerized by the taste.
"Mhhh~!"
One word: Heavenly!!!
Lux didn't care about his current image. His former glory was merely a past, the present was his new life. Life is a bowl of cherries. He realized how many things he missed in his life, such as the holiness of food!
"My little one certainly knows how to eat well. I'm glad you're not a picky eater. Just don't rush, or you might choke," Charlotte said as she looked at Lux attentively.
"Our champ, of course, is quite the eater. He'll grow up healthy." Arion replied.
Charlotte sighed quietly.
Lux appeared unusually mature for his age, which concerned Charlotte. He rarely cried as a baby, never threw tantrums, or disobeyed. He wasn't even as stubborn as other children.
Fortunately, when it came to food, Lux transformed into a foodie. While eating, he seemed just like any other child.
Maybe Lux was just special compared to other children?
Burp*
"Oh, Lux must be full. Let's go to daycare now." Charlotte spoke softly. She cleaned Lux's face with a handkerchief.
"Thank you."
"My baby, you're welcome~"
Unlike Lux's previous world, the culinary skills in this new realm were top-notch!
When Lux was younger, being limited to baby food was a struggle. The aromatic dishes made by Charlotte left him craving real food.
Thankfully, Lux's parents started allowing him to eat solid food as soon as he turned three. There were still some foods he wasn't allowed to have, but it didn't bother him much.
"Well, let me do the dishes." Arion stood up and gathered the plates. He stretched out his right arm, revealing a high-tech bracelet, and uttered, "{Auto Clean}"
The bracelet scanned the dishes. From just the scan, the once dirty dishes became well-cleaned and spotless.
'Astonishing,' Lux thought.
Even after three years of living here, Lux found scenes like this fascinating. The world was filled with astonishing and bizarre advanced technologies that operated without mana—a concept unimaginable in his previous life.
Former Lux, Uzziah, wouldn't have even thought such a thing was possible!
"Ah! Dear, I'll go to the car first. I forgot to adjust the child safety seat." Arion said to Charlotte. He looked at Lux, saying, "Papa will go first, so Mama will carry you."
He then pinched Lux's cheek before leaving the kitchen.
"C'mon, Sweetie, I've got your duck-themed bag. Let's get going~!" Charlotte said as she carried Lux and hung a small bag on his back. "Your first day in daycare is very important. You'll find friends and learn how to communicate with them!"
Friends? Lux dared not to, it was simply inconvenient.
Lux never considered having friends since it would take more time in his "tight" schedule. More importantly, Lux valued his time above all else.
With meticulous time management, how could he become an 11th-circle mage while managing the Cult?
Time was gold, and spending it with babies was not worth it!
"No need. Reading is more valuable," Lux said bluntly. He only agreed to go to daycare because he could "learn." Education was highly valued in this world. The higher the education, the more knowledge he could acquire.
This world may lack mana, but its remarkable vast knowledge gave Lux a little sentimental hope. He thought that if he could spend time developing his understanding of this world's principles, he might master science, which could help him attain divinity.
He wouldn't let his past efforts be in vain!
"Then, as long as you make a friend, I'll buy you the books that you want," Charlotte promised Lux.
With doubtful eyes, Lux asked, "Really?"
"Yes." Charlotte replied, smiling at Lux.
Lux: "!!!"
Books were gateways to history and knowledge. Lux had always been naturally drawn to books, even in his past life as Uzziah, always carried one.
However, Charlotte would often restrict his access to books due to him being too young. She mainly gave him children's storybooks, which frustrated Lux.
'Is this really his mother that won't let him read or touch real books?!' Lux wondered in shock.
Did the sun rise from the west?
"..." Lux silently looked at Charlotte.
Sensing his silent gaze, Charlotte asked, "Sweetie, why are you quiet? Do you not like my condition—"
"Evil spirit, did you take my mom?" Lux said seriously.
"Eh???" Dumbfounded, Charlotte almost slipped while carrying Lux.
"Hahahaha!" Lux laughed heartily. "I'm just joking, hehe."
"You..." Charlotte was speechless but couldn't help but smile. It was rare for Lux to laugh, let alone joke. She would let it slide for this time.
Charlotte gently held Lux as she entered the gigantic garage. Compared to the house's smooth walls, only metallic-looking walls were seen as a large pointy capsule centered the garage.
The capsule-looking thing was designed with smooth surfaces and sophisticated appearance that subtly enhances the capsule's aerodynamic profile and adds a futuristic aesthetic. It had four doors, four alloy wheels with a hollow core that lit up in dazzling colors, and mirrors incorporated into each side.
It was non other but a car!
'A futuristic carriage.' pondered by Lux.
While the former lux was born in a aristocrat household, carriages was common. But he was not fond of traveling— riding carriages, boats or any commute— since it was inefficient and time consuming.
Lux would prefer casting "teleport" instead since it avoid many hassle in advance.
"Hop! There you go!" Arion said from the other-side.
Inside, the car boast a minimalist yet luxurious interior and a baby seat just for Lux!
After Lux was placed in the baby seat, Charlotte sat beside Arion, who sat in the driver's seat.
Arion, seeing that everyone was fine, held the steering wheel and started the engine. He took out his bracelet and commanded " Nexus, activate {Driveware}!"
A electronic voice replied, "Affirmative, do you also want to open the garage door?"
"Open"
Lux's face was reflected in the sun as the garage door slowly opened. The car then moved out and joined the driveway.
Looking around, skyscrapers and tall houses lined the streets. Billboards and posters featured holographic displays. Parks and public spaces were enhanced with augmented reality art installations, creating immersive experiences and interactive AIs that assisted people.
Enjoying the view, Lux was unaware that his forehead glowed. It was the same magical Insignia from his last life!
Out of nowhere Lux heard a voice in his head,
[ Loading Integrating with the host. ]
"???" Confused, Lux look around. Neither his parents seemed to talk nor heard the voice just now.
[ Successful! ]
Suddenly a screen pop out...
[ System: ]
[ Loading.... 1.79%]
Rubbing his eyes, Lux carefully looked at the screen in front of him.
"Is this a hologram?" he whispered softly.
Lux tried to dispel it by waving his hands against the screen, but it did not budge. As he searched for the source of the light, he realized it wasn't a hologram after all.
After series of removing the screen, it was still there!!!
What the hell is this????
Charlotte glanced at Lux in the rearview mirror. Seeing that he looked busy at waving his hand, she asked curiously, "What's wrong, Sweetie?"
"Nothing," Lux grinned and then said, "I'm just... learning how to wave to a friend!"
Lux kept waving his hand showing it to Charlotte.
Hearing this, Charlotte happily said, "Then I won't disturb you any longer."
"Our champ is one step being friendlier!" Arion said while focusing driving.
"Yes!" Feeling relieved, Lux sighs.
Lux look at his his parents again, it appear that only he could see the screen. He ignore it for a while but after they almost arrive at the daycare, it did not disappeared.
Irritated, Lux began aggressively waving his hands against it again.
The screen looked transparent, but it covered some of his vision!!!
