When Ang asked him about Kara, Rue explained how he found a lady named Khana and invited her to the mansion.
"Master, she has arrived just a few days ago. Currently, she is in the area designated to the apothecary duo along with her fellow mercenaries." Rue said to Ang. "She insists on talking to you first before deciding to work here permanently."
"Very well, call her here. I will have a chat with her." Ang said as he thought of ways to win over Kara. "So her real name was Khana." He thought.
After some time...
Ang was looking at a young lady whose beauty was no less than when he met her as the lust king. Her white hair and sharp eyes reminded him of a fierce white tiger. As he admired her internally, she asked, "Are you the master of this mansion?"
"Yes, I am. Are you disappointed?" Ang asked with a smile. He could see the disappointed look on her face. "She most probably thought I would be some old person who is related to her mother." he assumed.
"Of course not, young master. May I know why you were looking for me ?" Khana asked.
"A promise was made by the former master of this house to the person in that picture you are holding. It was to provide you with a better future than she had. Unfortunately, she died before telling us about your whereabouts. Changing your name also did not help." Ang sighed as he said that.
"So she did die. I wanted to ask her why she sold me off." Khana said in a weak voice.
There was silence in the room. Ang observed how Kara reacted to what he said. "Kara... I mean Khana, she must have had her reasons. Who knows, maybe you are alive now because of that action." He said.
"Is Kara the name my mother gave me? Even though I was sold, the mercenary guild always treated me as one of their own. I might have missed the love of my mother, but there were always people who looked after me. Maybe it's as you said. She might have planned everything." said Khana, very emotionally.
"Nope, you were just a lucky slave," Ang thought.
"From today onwards, I will acknowledge the name Kara that my mother gave me." Said Kara resolutely. As soon as Kara made that decision, Rue could sense a fluctuation in her cultivation.
"Did she just breakthrough from the first stage to 2nd stage? " Rue was surprised. He knew that a cultivator experiences a raise in ther cultivation when they make a significant decision that resonates with their Path. But this also made him feel guilty as he knew that she was being fed with lies. But watching the smile on Ang's face made him think that Ang might have a strong reason for his actions.
"Kara, I wish for you to become my Knight. We will train you and provide enough resources to improve your cultivation. We will try our best to fulfil our promise to your mother. But of course, if you wish otherwise, we will not force you." Said Ang, looking at Kara resolutely.
Kara was surprised to hear what Ang just said. "To ask a commoner to be the Knight of the master of a noble house. He must have a very high opinion regarding my mother." She thought.
"I am flattered by your offer, but it is a burden too heavy for me to bear. I am afraid I will disappoint you with my mediocre talent." She said while clenching her fist. She was having an internal conflict. This opportunity may not come again, but she did not want to take advantage of this young master who thinks highly of her mother.
"Hahaha," Ang laughed as he heard Kara's response. He, of all people, knew how strong she would become in the future. He also heard that her talent in cultivation was average, but she became a Grandmaster-level cultivator who could defeat multiple Gradmasters stronger than her at the same time. What she lacked was not talent but resources. As a land path cultivator, her cultivation speed was slower than others. This made her think she had average talent in cultivation. If groomed properly, she could become a trump card he could use in a pinch. He continued, "As long as you want to become my Knight, your talent is not a problem. What I seek from you is your loyalty. As long as you are loyal, I will provide you with enough resources to compensate for your average talent."
Rue was surprised to hear the sheer amount of bull shit Ang was able to talk. Breaking through during a conversation is not something an average talent can do. "I had my doubts initially, but having her on our side would greatly benefit us. But can we contain her in the future when she realises her true potential?" Rue thought.
During her stay here, she heard a lot about the first noble house and its founder from Randi and Nita. They also said that the noble house was willing to establish health camps for the people who were not so privileged. After talking to them, her opinion of this noble house significantly increased. After hearing what Ang said, she is genuinely excited about her future. "Thank you, Mother! Even though I hated you all my life, you are giving me such a great opportunity." She murmered.
"So, what is your answer going to be?" Ang asked with a confident tone.
Kara knelt on one knee before Ang and said firmly, "I, Kara, would like to serve as your Knight."
"And I accept," Ang responded.
As Kara stood, Rue approached her, handing her a pill box and a cultivation manual.
"This.." as Kara was confused, Ang said, "This Pill contains Land Qi up to 95% purity, and the manual is a high-grade land cultivation technique. They will help you in your cultivation."
Ang asked Rue to prepare this pill and manual before inviting her to a talk. The pill was already in stock with the Apothecary couple, and as a Noble, he also contains a wide range of Manuels, even though not as many as the other nine Noble houses. He could see the surprised look in Kara's eyes. "She might probably be wondering how I know the Path she cultivates. Maybe I should tell some bullshit to cover it up."
Acting innocent, Ang said, "Well, I heard that was the Path your mother cultivated. So, I assumed you would also be cultivating the same. Am I mistaken? If so, we can get you something different that matches your Path."
Rue's face became expressionless when he heard what Ang had just said and how he had said it. "Old Master, did I fail in raising the Young Master? He lies with such ease. I need to work hard to make young master into a righteous person."
As Rue was involved in his world, Kara's eyes became watery. She became emotional when she heard that her mother followed the Path of Land as her. This made her feel more connected to her mother. As she took the manual and pill, she bowed to Ang as a thank-you gesture and left the room towards her allocated living place.
