"Mom!" Nathen exclaimed with a forced smile. Luckily, the boy was out of sight as the door was in the middle of the wall.
"You okay?" Nathen's mother asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Nathen responded.
"Okay, well, what do you want for dinner?" she asked.
"Uh, I don't really care," he responded.
"Okay, I'll go ask your brother," she stated before leaving the room.
Nathen let out a sigh of relief. The boy from the pod let out a groan as he sat up.
"W-where am I?" he asked. Nathen looked up, and they exchanged a look of fear before Nathen cleared his throat and responded.
"Y-you're in my room."
"Why do you look like that?"
"Everybody looks like this."
"What? Wait, what year is it?"
"3685."
The man looked at Nathen, dumfounded.
"What?! I was only supposed to be in there for a year."
"In the pod?"
"The stasis chamber, yes."
Nathen looked at him, confused.
"Stasis? "
"What's your name?"
"Umm, Nathen."
"Okay, Nathen, you can call me E."
"E? What kind of name is that?"
"Well, Nathen, until I know this isn't some sort of lie or test, you don't get my name."
They both turned to see a black fox-human hybrid crawl through Nathen's window.
