The story begins with Brittany Stars. She is an average 15-year-old girl who has bad luck. It's been this way since her childhood. She was often getting her clothes dirty, tripping over her own feet, being bullied, etc. Despite all her dark times, she still stays unnaturally happy. Her kindness, selflessness, and care for others make her too gentle and passive. Due to not having a single mean bone in her body, she refuses to stand up for herself. The poor girl was just too pure.Â
Now it's morning and she is getting ready for school. She quickly straps her backpack on. She is wearing her red blouse with a yellow star pictured in it and some black pants. She quickly puts her red sneakers on. And after brushing her teeth and long black hair, she zooms outside her door.
"Hurry up, Brittany! Do you want to be late again?"- her mom, yelling from downstairs.Â
"Sorry about that! I'm coming!"- Brittany, apologetic.Â
After taking just one step, Brittany accidentally steps on her untied shoelace and tumbles down the stairs. She lands face flat on the ground as a result.
''Ow ow ow... I'll certainly be feeling that in the morning." - Brittany, groaning in pain.
Her sister, Rosey, standing at 6'0'', comes to check on her. "Are you alright?"- Rosey, offering a hand.
"Yeah. Thank you, sis." - Brittany, smiling at her as she takes her hand and gets up.
Brittany walks to the kitchen grabs a toast from the toaster and puts her in her mouth. She eventually exits her house and is off to school. She waves bye to her family.Â
She happily walks through the neighborhood as she finishes her toast. She trips over her shoelace and falls on her face again. She gets back up and keeps going. She sees the school not too far from her now. She happily walks there before stepping on her shoelace for the 5th time she walks out of balance and accidentally pushes a boy down to the ground, knocking over the trash can.
"Ow. What's your problem?"- the brat.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! Are you alright?" - Brittany, concerned.
She stands up and offers him a hand. The boy aggressively slaps it away.
"What does it look like, stupid? Of course, I'm not alright! My suit is dirty thanks to you!"- the little twerp, getting up from his entitled behind.
"I'm so sorry."- Brittany, looking at him with an apologetic expression.
"Sorry's not gonna cut it, you clumsy bimbo! If you want to make it up to me, then at least address me as Sir Luthor Gray! That's my name! I come from a royal family."- Luthor, smug.
He is short at 4'9'', has blond hair and his clothing consists of a black suit with a red tie only wears shorts. Also has black dress shoes.
"Oh! A pleasure to meet you! I'm-"- Brittany, kindly introducing herself before getting cut off by Luthor's hand.
"Don't waste your breath, woman. I know who you are! The pathetic and unlucky Brittany Stars!" - Luthor, rude.
"How do you know my name?"- Brittany, surprised.
"Duh! I saw your ugly face in the yearbook! Not to mention how much crap your school kept spouting about you."- Luthor.
"U-um. I really don't think you should use that language. Especially at your age."- Brittany, with a soft voice and concerned face.
"Who gave a swine like you the right to tell me what to do? Just shut up and mind your own business, inferior." - Luthor, crossing his arms.
"Hey, brat! Didn't your mother teach you how to speak to a lady?"- an older boy.
He's a handsome student at the same age as Brittany. He's 5'6''. He has spiky black hair. He wears a black, long-sleeved jacket with red accents, a black shirt with a picture of a skull, blue jeans, and black sneakers. He also has earrings that are purple diamonds.Â
The guy happens to be walking by He angrily walks towards the two with his hands in his coat pockets. He gives the boy a serpent's glare.
"O-oh! Good morning, Mr. Cal!"- Luthor, in a terrified state.
"Your mornings won't be so good if I catch you bullying people again. So either you get lost or I'll rip every bone from your body. Might wanna choose the former."- Cal, cracking his knuckles with an angry expression.Â
The little blond boy is so scared that he literally pees himself. He nods He then runs away in fear.Â
After that, Cal turns to Brittany.
"Hey. You alright?"- Cal, concerned.
"Y-yes. Um, thank you very much."- Brittany, bowing.
"No problem. That brat had it coming."- Cal, giving her a warm smile.
"Will he be alright, though?"- Brittany, concerned.
"Don't tell me you're worried about him. He treated you like trash, remember?"- Cal.
"Yeah. But I kinda deserved it. It was my fault for upsetting him."- Brittany, feeling guilty.
"Jeez. Learn to be more assertive. Anyway, I'm Cal. And you're Brittany like that kid said. We'd better go. We're late."- Cal, running to the school.
Brittany runs to catch up with him who is ten feet ahead of her.Â
"Uh! Nice to meet you! And wait for me!"- Brittany, struggling to keep up.
Everyone is seated in class while Brittany arrives 20 minutes late. As she enters the room, Brittany trips again over her shoelace and has her face planted to the ground. She gets up and dusts off her clothes.
"Good morning, everyone! Sorry for my tardiness."- Brittany, nervously giggles.
"You said that over 20 times this semester, Brittany! Why are you always late?"- the teacher, harshly scolding her with his hands on his hips and his foot tapping the solid brown floor.
"Well, I just have bad luck. But I'm trying to not let it get to me. I'm truly sorry, Mr. Stein." Brittany, bowing to him with a kind tone.
"I'm really really REALLY sorry."- Brittany, feeling guilty.
"Enough! No more excuses and no more tardiness! If you keep goofing up like this again, consider yourself expelled!"- Mr. Stein, uncontrollably exploding at Brittany.
"Eek! Y-yes, sir! I-I'll have a seat right away!"- Brittany, scared after being disturbed by her teacher's anger.Â
She walks up to her seat and sits next to her bully with short light blond hair, long-sleeved shirt, a short pink shirt, white tights, and a pair of red Mary Janes.
"Good morning, Whitney."- Brittany, greeting her while showing a kind smile.
"Zip it, dumbass! I'm busy studying."- Whitney, snapping at Brittany while focusing on her history book.
 "Oh! Right! Sorry!"- Brittany, apologizing.Â
Class ends, and Brittany and other students are having lunch in the cafeteria. After Brittany gets her tray, she sits next to the boy she met this morning. Cal, who is sitting at an empty table.Â
"Hi, Cal!"- Brittany, kindly greeting him.
"Sup."- Cal, greeting back.
"Are your classes going okay?"- Brittany, polite.
"Hardly. A group of girls wouldn't leave me be. I wanted to concentrate on my P.E. but they're fond of me too much that they wouldn't shut up. It blew my focus."- Cal, exasperated.
"I'm sorry. Sounds like you've had it rough."- Brittany, sympathetic.
"You don't know the half of it. Everyone in this school annoys me to the brink of suicide."- Cal, sighing.
"Do I annoy you too?"- Brittany, looking sadly.
"Nah, Brittany. You're alright. But show some backbone every once in a while. You can't just let others walk all over you. Be more aggressive like me."- Cal, calm then stern.
"I'm not sure if I can. I don't want to be mean. Not that there's anything wrong with you or anything! It's just-"- Brittany, a little flustered and embarrassed.
"Relax. I get what you meant. But you don't want to be a herbivore girl forever, do you?"- Cal.
"W-well, I don't know. I guess I just don't have it in my blood."- Brittany, timid.
As they are chatting, Whitney comes to the table and coldly shoves Brittany away, sending her to the floor.Â
"Heyyyy, Cal!"- Whitney, infatuated with him and winking at him.
"May I help you with something, Whitney?"- Cal, annoyed and cautious of her.
"Oh, no. You don't have to help me with anything. But aren't you feeling lonely? Come eat with me, sweetie!"- Whitney, in a sweet voice.
"Thanks. But I'm already eating with someone."- Cal, politely telling her to take a hint.
"You're eating with Brittany?! Don't waste your time with her! She is nothing more than a lowly klutz and a total embarrassment. She is far beneath you! You deserve someone with high class and high cash. Like me!"- Whitney, gleeful.
"Status has nothing to do with equality."- Cal.
"Hmph. I will make you my husband one day."- Whitney, pouting and going to eat at the far away side of the table.
Brittany and Cal finished eating together and after the bell rings, the former decides to go to the bathroom before trying out at the gym. If she can find one in time.Â
She spent minutes walking in the hallway in search of the restroom. She really needs to go.Â
"Gosh. Where is the restroom? How did I forget where it is?"- Brittany, urgent.
She's holding tightly to her bladder while wandering around. She hadn't noticed that a familiar girl tripped her and she fell on her face.
Whitney, of course, laughs at her. Brittany looks at her with a surprised look as she gets up.
"Oh! Whitney! I-"- Brittany, before being cut off by a violent slap at her red cheek from the white-haired girl.
This sends her to the ground hard.
"Ow! Whitney, that kinda hurts."- Brittany, pained.
"Oh shut up, pig stain! You deserve it!"- Whitney.
She grabs Brittany by the collar, hauls her up, and slams her directly to the wall. She punches her directly in the stomach three times before tossing her to the ground.
"Owww... Whitney, please..."- Brittany, pleading.
Despite her begging, Whitney continues to beat her up by kicking her in the face. This earns Brittany a bleeding mouth. Whitney picks her up by the shirt again and backhands her face with a strong enough force to give her a nosebleed. After the impact, Brittany is sent flying at least 3 feet after Whitney throws her again. She walks over to the fallen girl and stomps on her stomach.
"How about I give you a friendly warning, loser? You tell anyone about this or if you're anywhere near my precious Cal again, you're a dead woman. Remember that."- Whitney, threatening her.
She takes her foot off Brittany and walks away. Brittany slowly but carefully gets up and goes to use the ladies' room which she just found next to her.
After an awful day at school, Brittany returns home. She has a band-aid on a spot close to her mouth and has an ice pack for her nose and mouth.Â
Her little brother, Damien, runs over to her.
"Hi, I'm home."- Brittany, happily greeting.
"Hahaha! Wow! You are so in trouble!"- Damien, teasing her.
"What do you mean, Damien?"- Brittany, worried.
"He means you're grounded!"- her mom, angrily appearing.
"W-what?!"- Brittany, surprised.
"From what I heard from the principal, you accused a student of your injuries when you fell down the stairs! You called her an extremely rude word that is not acceptable on school grounds! And you threw a trash can at her! You should be ashamed!"- her mother, yelling.
"But, mom. I-"- Brittany, before getting cut off by her mother's fury.
"No buts, young lady! Shut up and get your worthless ass to your room this instant, you brat!! You're grounded!"- her mom, screaming at her.
"Y-yes, ma'am! Right away!"- Brittany, running upstairs.
And so Brittany is upstairs, opening up her backpack, and taking out her papers.
"Guess I'd better do my homework. And gosh, I have a lot to do. Oh well, I might as well get started. Still, I wonder if Whitney and I will be friends. I hope so. I'll try my best to earn her trust. Just like how Cal trusted me. I won't let either of them down."- Brittany, swearing.
