We arrived at the mansion, but the security guards refused to open the gate for us. They informed us that Mrs. Dragon had given strict instructions never to let me into the compound.
I stood at the gate for over ten minutes, pressing the bell repeatedly. Beatrice, already irritated and exhausted by the situation, voiced her frustration.
"Let's leave this place for now. We can come back later, maybe tomorrow, or better still, seek the advice of a lawyer. I don't think it will be easy for you to get your kids out of that house," she said, kicking the tire of her car in frustration and pacing around restlessly.
I continued pressing the bell, determined not to give up. "What do I have to lose? I could stay here all day pressing this damned button. My whole life is in there. My kids are there. There's no way I'm leaving without them."
