The next day, I decided to go ahead with my plan. I took all my kids and headed for Beatrice's house, but guess who I met on the way? Henry Dragon.
I never thought we'd meet like this. Oh, how I wanted to disappear. I didn't want Henry to see my triplets, at least not yet. Not now.
He couldn't take his eyes off them. He froze the moment he saw them. They look just like him.
"Let's go," I told my kids, beckoning them to follow me, but Henry finally spoke.
"They're mine, aren't they?"
I paused the minute he said that. How do I deny it? I don't know why these kids had to be Henry Dragon's carbon copies. A replica of him.
But I still needed to say something, to deny it somehow.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you, Henry," I said, pretending to be strong. "You're wrong; they're not yours." I walked closer to him and whispered in his ear.
I told him that, as much as I wanted them to be his kids, they weren't. Their father was long dead. Then, I took the kids away, and we went straight to Beatrice's house.
I narrated what had just happened to Beatrice and how this might ruin my whole plan. Beatrice didn't waste any time trying to convince me that it might be a sign from above.
She told me to give up my plan for revenge now, while it was still early. But I said no, insisting I would still push through with my plans regardless. Though it might be difficult for me to get back into the mansion now that Henry had seen the kids.
He wouldn't give up until he had done a DNA test on them.
I needed to find something to sway his attention, but what could I possibly use? I'm sure he's smart enough not to fall for any of my tricks.
Surprisingly, the kids already knew exactly what was going on. I didn't have to breathe a word to them.
They knew from the moment they saw Henry Dragon that he was their father.
While I was still talking with Henry, I could see them from the corner of my eye, making sign language. I knew instantly they were talking about Henry.
My head felt heavy. I was exhausted from thinking too much. Beatrice asked me to calm down and take a deep breath. Suddenly, someone started knocking on the door. Gold quickly rushed to see who it was.
We waited for her to say something about the person at the door, but she never said a word. I got scared and stood up to see what was happening.
As I stood up to look for her, I saw her already heading toward us.
"Who was it?" I asked.
"Oh, it's my father. I didn't want to let him in just yet," she said casually, as if we had already discussed Henry being their father.
I didn't know when I collapsed back onto the couch I had just stood up from. My hands and legs were trembling.
I turned to Beatrice and whispered, "I told you, they know."
I stood up again, determined to see for myself if it was truly Henry Dragon at the door. As I approached, my legs felt like lead. Each step seemed to take an eternity. The door was wide open, so I could see clearly.
I recognized that face anywhere. It was definitely Henry Dragon. But how did he find us? Could he have followed us here?
" Oh, what have I done? This is my fault. Henry traced us here because of my carelessness." I wondered.
I clutched my chest, bracing for the worst. "How did you find me here? Why did you track us to my friend's place?" I demanded angrily. "I already told you, they aren't yours, Henry. So deal with it."
I grabbed the door and tried to slam it shut, but there was no bang. I turned back, stunned to see Henry holding the door. He walked in uninvited.
"When are you going to tell me about them?" he asked.
"Never. I don't plan on ever telling you. I don't want my kids anywhere near you or your family," I spat.
"But they are Dragons," he said angrily. "They deserve to know who their father is and to enjoy the benefits that come with being a Dragon."
Was that anger in Henry's voice? Was he seriously getting mad at me now? After everything I went through with his mother and his awful girlfriend?
"Let me talk to my kids," he demanded.
"Your kids? That would be over my dead body, Henry Dragon," I screamed. "The child I had with you is long gone. You never even bothered to look for him when I told you he was alive. Not once! And now you claim to be the father of my triplets? Get out, Henry!" I pushed him away.
Beatrice rushed over to calm me down. She told Henry to leave for now.
"You can come back when she's a bit calmer," she said gently to Henry.
He agreed but warned that he would return and wouldn't leave without his children.
As he was about to leave, he turned back, as if remembering something important. "By the way, I hope you haven't signed the divorce papers yet. There's no need for that anymore, because I'm not marrying Monica. So, we're still legally married. Can't you see, Andrea? Fate is on our side. We even have children together. Not just one, but three." He left, laughing as if he had lost his mind.
I was furious. I wanted to punch his face until he lost all his teeth. What was he so happy about?
Now he wanted children so badly? The almighty Henry Dragon, who didn't want kids, now changed his mind? Could he even protect them if I agreed to take them to the mansion? Could he stand up to his mother if the need arose?
How do I know Henry wasn't part of the whole plan from the beginning?
I thought I was thinking all of this silently, but apparently, I had spoken aloud.
Beatrice, already sensing my thoughts, said, "Don't do it, Andrea. You'll regret it. Please don't."
I could see how much she cared, but once I make up my mind, there's no going back. And my mind was already made up.
"I'm sorry, Beatrice, but from today onwards, I declare war on the Dragons," I said, then walked away.
