We stayed in the hospital for three days before my daughter finally opened her eyes. Overwhelmed with relief and joy, I quickly rushed out to get the doctor to check on her.
Her so-called mother was also in the same hospital, receiving treatment, but her hand was handcuffed to the bed. I had reported her to the police and sued her and her husband for maltreating my children.
Finding my children was the best thing that had ever happened to me. I knew they were mine from the moment I saw them.
I did a DNA test on both of them while we were still at the hospital, without their knowledge, just to confirm my suspicions. The results showed I was right—they were my children after all.
But I wasn't satisfied yet. I wanted answers and revenge, so I went to the woman's hospital room to ask a few questions.
The police officer at the door tried to stop me, saying, "She's still unable to speak. It's useless to try talking to her."
But I insisted and went in.
"I know you're not the kids' real mother," I said, my voice laced with anger. "I did a DNA test and found out they are my children, taken from me the minute I gave birth. So my question now is, who took them and gave them to you?" I hit my hand on her bed, trying to intimidate her.
But she didn't respond. Maybe the officer was right. Maybe the acid had affected her voice.
"If you had told me the truth, I would have dropped all the charges against you today," I said, turning to leave.
But she grabbed my arm. It was working. Villains always try to bargain to save their own necks.
She fell for my trap. I smiled and gently removed her grip from my clothes.
"Do you have something to say?" I asked.
She nodded and gestured for me to come closer.
"How do I know you'll keep your promise and not throw me in prison once I talk?" she whispered, her voice barely audible.
This sly fox. She thought she could escape justice, but I had everything under control.
I took an envelope from my bag and handed it to her.
"See? I've already dropped all the charges against you. But if you refuse to tell me everything, I'll sue you all over again," I said.
She began speaking immediately. She explained that she and her husband had been childless for many years. Then, one day, they overheard some women discussing a hospital that provided babies for a high price.
I asked her for the name of the hospital, and my blood ran cold when she said it: The Dream Hospital. That's Monica's hospital.
What was I hearing? Could Monica's hospital be a baby factory—a place where they steal and sell babies?
"It's hard to believe, but it's true," the woman said. "They sell babies there. When I went there, I was told there were no babies available at the moment."
"They probably said that just to get more money out of me because they saw how desperate I was," she paused for a moment before continuing.
"I was invited into the office of the woman in charge of giving out the babies. I heard she was also the owner of the hospital. She told me she really wanted to help me because she could see how desperate I was. She mentioned that there were twin babies available at the moment and that she had planned to give them to a VIP client that very day. However, if I was interested, she would give them to me for only 3 million dollars.
I cried and begged her, explaining that I didn't have that kind of money. I told her even my husband didn't have more than ten thousand dollars in his account.
She became upset and asked me to leave her office. But just as I was about to exit, she stopped me and said, 'Take me to your house. You better hope I like what I see when I get there.' Those were her exact words.
So, I took her to my house. To my surprise, the moment she arrived, she quickly picked up her phone and called someone. She gave them my house address and told them to bring the twins there.
She ended the call and told me that today was my lucky day. She said she would give me the twins for free and that I didn't need to sign anything.
But then, she said something very strange. She told me she would give me twenty thousand dollars if I killed the twins. 'You know where to find me to get your money,' she said before driving off.
At first, I thought it was all a joke, but then she started calling me, asking if I had killed them. The last time she called, I told her never to call again, that I would never do such a thing."
By the time the woman finished telling me her story, she looked exhausted and worn out.
What this woman didn't know was that Monica wanted to use her against me. The moment Monica saw the conditions this woman and her husband lived in, she decided to give my twins to her, thinking they would suffer in poverty. But then she changed her mind and asked her to kill them, believing she could manipulate her into committing murder.
Did Mrs. Dragon know Monica planned to have their buyers kill my twins, or did Monica act alone? I guess I'll have to find out for myself.
