Chapter 24 - Departure Part 2

Blackbir Nameless Station, on the ground.

A young man wearing square-framed glasses and in a suit and leather shoes stepped down from the gray-black iron bird. He was greeted by a man with a dusty face and scars all over his body.

"Angelus, are you all right?" the young man asked.

"It's okay. Thank you for your concern, Mr. Head." Angelus replied.

This young man is Cesare, the current head of Medici's family and Angelus's brother. He is one of the masterminds behind this car pick-up event.

Because there were other people present, Angelus did not address him as "eldest brother" or "older brother", but greeted the patriarch as a member of the Medici family.

Cesar nodded, looked at the half-destroyed carriage that was still on fire not far away, and frowned involuntarily.

It was too tragic. It was hard for the cargo to survive.

Cesar walked towards the rear carriage where the fire had been put out and the lower damage had been done, and Angelus limped behind him.

He scanned the coffins that were originally filled with goods, but now they had become real coffins, and frowned. All the Orientals sleeping in the ice were dead, and even the coffins that were not on fire were pierced by red-hot steel spikes.

Looking at the hot steel spikes, Angelus thought of Cyrol. He didn't deal a fatal blow to himself, so he must have come back to finish off the goods. I didn't expect him to be so rational.

Is this his revenge against the Medici and the federal nobles?

"Where's the monster?"

Cesar asked the adjutant beside him.

"It's gone. There's a trail of fire on the outskirts of the city, but the trail continues to the edge of the pond and then it stops."

Cesar smacked his lips in the barely audible voice of an adjutant. He continued to inspect the carriages until he came to the "special carriage" at the end of the train. There were three special coffins here, and not long ago, Angelus was preparing to kill the Cyrol monster here.

Now the explosion-proof door has been unlocked and is being retracted layer by layer. In fact, this operation is completely meaningless. Under the destruction of Sirol, the front half of the entire special carriage has completely disappeared, and there is no need to open the door to enter the carriage.

There were three large coffins placed deep in the carriage, and now the lids of the coffins had been opened.

Angelus stared at the incredible scene in the carriage with wide eyes.

An oriental boy was kneeling on the ground, his upper body completely burned to ash, while another oriental girl had just come out of the coffin. Before she was halfway there, her chest was pierced by the high temperature, leaving only a hole burned to ash.

They were all killed by Cyrol.

"It seems that we have something to give to the old guys in the Protocol Bureau to calm them down," said Cesar.

Angelus nodded as well. He understood what his brother meant.

Xi Luoer's evolution exceeded those people's expectations. His ability even surpassed the two oriental nobles. It seemed that he used the power of fire to easily kill them without giving them any chance to struggle.

This was a great discovery that had never been made before. For the first time, Westerners successfully created a "sharp sword" comparable to that of Orientals in a physical experiment, and it was obvious that it had self-awareness, even if that awareness was not friendly to them.

Angelus reviewed the traces of the battle left not long ago one by one, replaying the past actions in his mind. This was a habit of his. He used this method to constantly hone his skills in his mind, simulating again and again how to kill the same enemy with different techniques.

"It's a bit strange, there seems to be something missing in this room," said Cesar.

Angelus also discovered that there were three coffins in the room, but only two corpses.

"Are there any other carbonized corpses around here?"

Angelus asked the adjutant. The adjutant pushed his glasses and glanced at the head of the Cesar family, who nodded.

"We have confirmed that there are no other new clues, including the escaped Cyrol," the adjutant replied.

In short, no body was found.

"Then there's a good chance we still have a living specimen."

Cesar was the first to say what Angelus had in mind. He stroked his chin and gave an order to his adjutant.

"Tell the family to send more people to search all the places where people can hide nearby. Don't miss any clues." Cesar looked at the half-destroyed remains of the old train station in the distance. "I remember there is a subway line underground here, right? Our samples may have escaped into the city along the subway. Apply to the Protocol Bureau. I need complete emergency dispatch authority to block the entire city."

"Yes, sir."

After accepting the task, the adjutant quickly turned around to give orders.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇

Not far from Cesar and Angelus, a shadow flashed out from behind a building.

He walked back to the station, following the burning footprints on the ground, and hid in a small woods nearby.

Then a passing guard was dragged into the jungle, and a disgusting burnt smell filled the air.

But the smell of burning is everywhere here, and no one cares if there is any new smell somewhere else.

A few minutes later, the guard straightened his clothes and walked out of the grove with a confident smile on his face.

He slowly walked into the gray iron bird and took over the shift with another soldier.

He sat on the airplane, quietly waiting for the plane to return. A dark red line slid across his smiling face, like a pulsating blood vessel.
