After what felt like hours of bedtime stories (where Bob kept trying to insert cosmic creation myths), helping Luna's shadows untangle from the curtains, and convincing Danny that his drawings needed to sleep too, they finally made it to their own room.
"I don't think I've ever been this mentally exhausted," Kai flopped onto the bed. "And I once had to explain memes to Marcus for six hours straight."
The room Alternative Cassius had given them was cozy - a big comfortable bed, warm lighting, and a large window overlooking the garden where their charges would learn to be human tomorrow.
"It feels like days since we were in the Ancients' territory," Marcus noted, taking the left side of the bed. He was still processing everything they'd experienced.
Samantha perched in the middle of the bed, looking out at the night sky. "Time feels different here. Stretched out but also compressed."
