Samantha sat on the cabin's roof, watching the sunrise through the protective charm Luna had created that allowed a vampire like her to enjoy daylight without harm. Below, she could hear Marcus and Kai in the kitchen. The sounds of their casual bickering over breakfast brought an involuntary smile to her face. Kai was trying to convince Marcus to try some new organic smoothie recipe, while Marcus insisted that blood was the only breakfast he needed.
"Just because I *can* eat regular food now doesn't mean I have to torture myself with whatever that green concoction is," Marcus was saying, his usually stern voice carrying a note of amusement.
