The morning sun had barely cleared the horizon when Luna appeared in their living room without warning. Kai, who had managed to doze off despite his best efforts to stay awake, jerked upright at her sudden presence.
"Time to begin," Luna announced, her jet black hair catching the early light. "Today will test what you've learned, and what you've gained from your... unique connection."
Samantha and Marcus emerged from the bedroom, already dressed for training. Luna's eyes swept over the three of them, lingering on Kai's disheveled appearance.
"Rough night?" she asked, though her knowing smile suggested she already understood what had happened.
"You could say that," Kai mumbled, running a hand through his messy hair.
Luna led them to a clearing deep in the forest, far from any hiking trails or curious eyes. The air hummed with magical energy – she had clearly prepared this space beforehand.
