Marcus and Samantha stood at the center of the circular chamber, surrounded by five ancient vampires. The air felt heavy with anticipation as they waited for the elders to speak. Samantha's hand found Marcus's, their fingers intertwining for mutual support.
The eldest vampire, a wizened creature with wispy white hair and skin like aged parchment, leaned forward in his ornate chair. His pale eyes seemed to pierce right through them as he spoke.
