As Samantha's form flickered, the world around her seemed to twist and bend. Marcus slammed on the brakes, the car screeching to a halt on the empty road. He and Kai turned to look at her, their eyes wide with shock and concern.
"Samantha!" Kai exclaimed, reaching out to her. His hand passed through her flickering form, causing him to recoil in surprise.
Marcus, ever the calm one, assessed the situation quickly. "We need to find a safe place to rest and figure this out," he said, his voice tight with worry. "Kai, you mentioned a hotel for supernaturals nearby?"
Kai nodded, his eyes never leaving Samantha. "Yeah, about twenty miles from here. Wraithwood Haven. They cater to all kinds of supernatural beings, including vampires. They've got lightproof rooms."
"Perfect," Marcus said, putting the car back in gear. "Let's go."
