Chapter 25 - Luck's Arrival

Veralth didn't want her dead so he wouldn't straight up kill her but as long as she didn't die he didn't care how injured she got.

She managed to grab a kunai that was heading towards her but that too dislodged itself from her grip and joined the others.

They tore through her skin like a pack of hungry piranhas, each strike drawing blood. She managed to defend her vitals from the attack but the rest of her body was not spared.

Layla fell to her knees, her clothes soaked in blood. She was finished.

Veralth took his time walking over to where she knealth, dragging his katana along the floor of the roof as he slowly approached her.

He was enjoying every single moment of this.

He stared down at her and she stared back her eye's still defiant but her body unable to move due to sheer exhaustion and the effects of the poison.

"Where should I start?" He said out loud dragging his katana around her.

"Obviously you shouldn't be able to walk after this that's for sure but I can never really tell with you. Maybe you should lose a hand as well? Or why not both?" He asked, watching her like a predator who had its prey within its claws.

He would still need to keep her alive though so there were things he could not do. He could easily say she got injured during the examination but dead? That would be rather difficult to explain.

"Well we have to start somewhere right?" He lifted his katana in the air ready to send it right through her thigh when a firm hand grabbed onto his arm, stopping his movement.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" A voice came filled with rage.

Veralth had not sensed anyone approaching and neither had he noticed any form of bloodlust.

How was a person who was filled with so much bloodlust able to approach him undetected?!

Veralth quickly reached for a kunai with his other hand ready to stab the intruder but as he sung towards him he saw an empty space where his hand once was, blood splashing onto his face and the face of the person.

It took him a moment to realize what had happened and when he did a scream came forth but he didn't even get the liberty to finish the expression of his pain...

A fist slammed into his mouth knocking him backwards into the air and before he could even land a kick lifted him higher.

That was not all.

Another punch followed suit and the person followed him into the air landing one straight in his stomach causing him to cough up blood as well as his last meal.

As he was a falling a hand grabbed on to his shirt and he was made to repeat his earlier action, just at a much faster pace.

He turned around and managed to look the assailant right in the face and when he managed to get a good look he trembled in fear.

There was no sign of mercy in his eyes, all that his face displayed was unbottled rage, and his e-eyes! They were the eyes of a killer.

He was as good as dead if this continued!

In panic he quickly thrust forth all his projectiles toward him as he scrambled back, looking for a way to escape.

Any route, any path.

He needed even the faintest glimmer of hope to cling onto.

The projectiles bounced off the man's body like throwing toothpicks at a stone wall.

'Who is this guy?!'

He had never met him, not once in his life but right now he moved like he had been severely wronged by Veralth.

As his puny attacks bounced off the very skin of the man who was after his life Veralth knew right then and there.

He was going to die.

He couldn't be helped.

Now the man who had not only injured but planned to severely injure a girl he once called his student quickly got on his knees and bowed his head low begging the man who was to deliver justice to him for his life.

But was this truly justice?

The person in front of him didn't appear in any way to be an instrument of justice sent by God. In fact to him he was the very incarnation of evil, nothing close to an angle of justice.

He was pure evil.

Even if he had to bow to this devil just so that his life could be speared he would do it.

Veralth has a family back home and children who relied on him for everything.

He has a decent pay in the clan, his life was technically going great. Why did he have to be driven to the court of the devil just because of envy?

What would he tell his wife was the reason he left his family in this world when they eventually met in the great beyond?

How did could he be even sure his family would be safe? The devil that stood in front of him was brimming with so much hate that he knew in his heart that it was just a coincidence that they he met him just as he was about to dish out punishment to Layla.

He could not hope to fight against him so all he could do was beg.

"Please! I have a fami-." The classic words every family man would utter just at the point of death to save themselves was about to spew out of his lips when a rock hard slop rocked his face interrupting him and with that he felt the reming part of his left arm come off.

He was struggling to stay conscious due to the unearthly slap he had received and the blood loss but right before he slumped into the darkness he saw a glipse of it.

He didn't know if he was hallucinating because of the anemia or if the dire need for a savior made him imagine things but he saw him.

An angel with stark white hair and pure azure blue eyes that spoke of his purity walking down from the sky completely embodied by grace.

And that was the last thing he saw before the darkness took him.
