Chapter 39 - Chapter 38: The Adventurers' Guild

In the days that followed, the reputation of "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!" skyrocketed in Nosrik.

It quickly became a household name, known by everyone in the city.

As the story of "KonoSuba" spread, the new form of entertainment, film, also spread rapidly, making it known to everyone in Nosrik that the Nosrik Grand Theatre was showing this new type of film.

At the same time, flyers promoting the film produced by the Nosrik Grand Theatre were circulating throughout the streets.

Whether at tavern entrances or in the alleys and squares, you could see or hear about it.

Almost every moment, someone in Nosrik was talking about "KonoSuba" and movies. Watching "KonoSuba" had even become an achievement of social status.

In taverns, those who had the chance to see the film at the Nosrik Grand Theatre were often surrounded by others asking about the movie.

Those who hadn't seen it were meticulously calculating the ticket release times, rushing to the theatre as soon as tickets became available.

Eventually, some even camped out at the ticket booth overnight, creating a queue that never ended.

Luckily, scalpers hadn't yet emerged, or it would have caused quite a stir.

...

Nosrik, Adventurers' Guild.

Sitting in the lounge on the second floor of the Adventurers' Guild, Edward sipped the tea handed to him by the guild master of the Southern Adventurers' Guild and gazed out at the bustling scene outside the window.

He couldn't help but remark, "This is really something. The adventurer registration desk has nearly been trampled in the past few days, and this is just the beginning. I suspect the number of adventurers in the South will skyrocket at an unimaginable rate."

The guild master, hearing Edward's comment, smiled and replied, "We owe this to you, Master Edward, and the film you made. Although I anticipated this outcome the moment I saw the movie, the actual impact has far exceeded my expectations. I've heard that even some hidden mages in the South have joined the Adventurers' Guild, proving that even powerful mages cannot resist the allure of film..."

"Haha, mages are human too, after all, and no human can resist the charm of a good movie. If 'KonoSuba' spreads to the Imperial Capital, I'm sure the Adventurers' Guild will see a surge in mages who used to be homebodies. And I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing more people swinging their staffs around and throwing fireballs like they're in some kind of fantasy."

Though he spoke in a joking tone, Edward's expression was entirely serious.

The guild master, understanding Edward's meaning, smiled before changing the subject, "Baron Baniel has already grown accustomed to the series of procedures involved in this new form of performance, but even so, the demand far exceeds the supply. A hall that can only hold about fifty people is hardly enough for a town of tens of thousands."

Edward, who had been pondering this issue for some time, slowly responded, "I've already prepared the duplicated imaging crystals. Once Baniel finishes expanding the theater, they can be put to use. The schedule for screenings is also ready, so at least for now, we won't have to worry about people not being able to get tickets."

Edward had taught a few apprentice mages under Baniel how to project images using the crystals.

This task, which only required magic power, was quite suitable for those novice mages who hadn't even reached the first level.

However, Edward was also working on a projection crystal switch that ordinary people could use since he hadn't abandoned the idea of selling DVDs.

The guild master, who had heard of this, simply remarked, "That's good to hear. By the way, I heard from Baron Baniel that you plan to collaborate with him on establishing a specialized industry chain?"

"Yes, I've already submitted a commercial registration application to Nosrik. Although it's a new industry, it was approved with Baron Baniel's endorsement. From now on, you can officially call me Director Edward. My company will be named Edward Film Studio, and Nosrik Grand Theatre has also been officially renamed Nosrik Cinema!"

Edward spoke with a broad smile, but the guild master didn't dare show any neglect.

He immediately said, "Congratulations, Director Edward. This means we can expect news of a new film soon, right? If I get the chance, I'd love to try for a role."

"Baron Baniel mentioned something similar to me before. But now that Edward Film Studio is a legitimate business, the casting process will follow formal auditions. If you can pass the audition, I wouldn't mind casting you in a role."

Edward's response was quite official, and the guild master of the Southern Adventurers' Guild didn't take it personally.

He simply said, "In any case, the development of the Southern Adventurers' Guild owes much to your help, Director Edward."

"It's just a mutually beneficial relationship."

Edward's calm attitude prompted the guild master to add, "Oh, there's something I need to inform you of, Master Edward. I submitted a report to the Imperial Adventurers' Guild headquarters about our investment in your movie. I thought it would be just a routine procedure and that people unfamiliar with films wouldn't be interested. But to my surprise, someone took a keen interest after reading my report."

"Someone?"

Hearing Edward's question, the guild master awkwardly replied, "It's the guild master who oversees the entire Northern Adventurers' Guild. Unlike the South, where even a moderately wealthy merchant like me can become a guild master, the North is a place of survival of the fittest. For someone to become the guild master there, their strength and status must be extraordinary."

Indeed, the North is vastly different from the South.

Since it borders the undeveloped Dark Territory, adventurers there battle various monsters, magical beasts, and undead daily.

Compared to the Southern Adventurers' Guild, which is mostly made up of first and second-tier adventurers, the Northern adventurers are more rigorously categorized. To reach the level of a guild master in such a place requires top-tier prowess.

Though Edward didn't understand why a powerful individual from so far away would be interested in his film, he didn't see any reason to decline if they were genuinely interested.

"When can I meet them?"

The guild master replied with a hint of resignation, "Uh, as soon as she heard about it, she came straight here. She's probably watching the movie at the cinema right now. I imagine she'll come to find you soon."
