Chapter 1 - chapter 1 The beginning

In a modest kingdom, there lived a family named Mr. and Mrs. Welden. They had two sons, Scott and David. Scott, being the eldest, felt deep pain because their family didn't live a normal life like the other children in their neighborhood.

Though they were poor and had little to their name, they were known throughout the land for their unwavering honesty and kindness. Despite their virtues, life was a constant struggle. They toiled day and night just to have enough to eat.

Their uncles, in stark contrast, were well-to-do. However, their hearts were hardened by greed, and they refused to offer any assistance to their struggling relatives.

The Weldens held on to their principles, knowing that honesty and integrity were their true treasures, even if they did not bring immediate relief from their hardships.

Mr. and Mrs. Welden were willing to do anything to improve their situation, but they didn't know where to start.

Yet, they held on to their belief that perseverance and virtue would eventually lead them to a better life.

One crisp morning, as the sun cast its golden rays over the fields, Scott and David were helping their father in the small garden behind their humble cottage.

They worked tirelessly, planting vegetables that would hopefully yield a modest harvest. Scott looked at his younger brother, who was cheerfully humming a tune, and felt a pang of responsibility.

He was determined to find a way to give David a better future.

Mrs. Welden, meanwhile, was inside their cottage, weaving baskets to sell at the market. Her hands were worn and calloused, but her spirit remained unbroken.

She often found solace in her work, believing that each basket she crafted brought them one step closer to a better life.

One evening, after a particularly grueling day, Mr. Welden gathered his family around the dinner table.

The meal was simple—bread, cheese, and some vegetables from their garden—but it was shared with love and gratitude.

"We must not lose hope," Mr. Welden said, looking at each member of his family with determination.

"There is a way out of this, I am sure of it. We just have to keep believing and working hard."

Scott nodded, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. He knew his father was right, but he also felt the weight of their struggles pressing heavily on his shoulders.

As the eldest, he wanted to do more for his family.

One day, while working in the fields, Scott overheard a conversation between two travelers passing by. They spoke of a distant town where opportunities were plentiful for those willing to work hard.

Excitement sparked in Scott's heart. Perhaps this was the chance they had been waiting for.

He rushed home to share the news with his family. "Father, Mother," Scott exclaimed, breathless from running.

"I heard of a place where we might find work and a better life. We could travel there and start anew."

Mr. and Mrs. Welden listened intently, hope flickering in their eyes. The idea of leaving everything they knew was daunting, but the promise of a better future was too compelling to ignore.

They decided to gather more information before making a final decision.

In the following days, Scott sought out more travelers and merchants, asking about the distant town.

Each story he heard reinforced his belief that this was their opportunity. Finally, the Weldens decided to take the leap of faith.

They were ready to move to the next city to seek work when a friend of Scott's burst into their house with breaking news. "Scott, Mr. Welden, Mrs. Welden! You won't believe this!" he shouted, his face flushed with excitement.

The family gathered around, eager to hear the news. "Scientists have come to our town! They've discovered crude oil in our land!"

The news was astonishing. The Weldens, along with the rest of the townsfolk, had been unaware that such a valuable resource lay beneath their feet. The discovery of crude oil promised to transform their small town and their lives.

The Welden family was overwhelmed by the news, but they couldn't help feeling a sense of trepidation.

The scientists' discovery of crude oil on their land was a game-changer, but they knew that their uncle, who had taken control of the property, would not give it up without a fight.

Their uncle had already sold the land to the scientists, pocketing the money without hesitation.

The family's pleas for assistance fell on deaf ears, as he had no intention of sharing the profits.

In a last-ditch effort to reclaim their rightful inheritance, the Weldens turned to their elder siblings in the city, hoping that they might be able to wield their influence to intervene on their behalf.

However, their uncle's cunning had already outmaneuvered them. He had skillfully exploited the family's trust in their siblings, using it to his advantage and manipulating the situation to his benefit.

The scientists, oblivious to the intricate web of family dynamics, had inadvertently become pawns in his game of deception.

Their uncle's clever tactics had not only secured the scientists' trust but also convinced them to enter into a lucrative agreement, effectively shutting out the Weldens from any potential profits.

The family's pleas for fairness and justice fell on deaf ears as their uncle's grip on the land tightened, leaving them with dwindling options.

The Weldens' fate hung precariously in the balance, as they struggled to find a way to outsmart their uncle's cunning and reclaim their rightful inheritance.

With their uncle's grip on the property tightening, the Weldens faced an uphill battle. Their only hope lay in convincing their siblings to join forces and fight for their rightful inheritance.

But would they be able to overcome their differences and work together to reclaim their family's legacy?
