Chapter 25: What is the Extraordinary Dream?

On the first day of school, there were no formal courses. Iruka simply asked the students to introduce themselves and then dismissed them.

Upon returning home, when Hiashi questioned Ryosuke about his dream, his response differed from what he had stated at school.

"My dream is to attain enough power to protect myself and my family as soon as possible, and then pursue personal growth in an ordinary manner," Ryosuke said with a smile, expressing his true thoughts.

However, his answer clearly displeased Hiashi.

Frowning, Hyuga Hiashi rose from his seat and looked down at Ryosuke. "Is this truly what you desire? Is this your goal?"

His tone was stern and probing.

Hiashi had placed high hopes and invested significant attention in Ryosuke, even considering him to be of greater importance than his own family. Given the choice between Ryosuke and Hinata, Hiashi would likely choose Ryosuke. He believed that Ryosuke's lineage held greater significance for the Hyuga clan than their current status.

Thus, upon hearing Ryosuke's seemingly ordinary dream, Hiashi was deeply dissatisfied. Such a dream did not befit Ryosuke's potential, in his view.

"Do you wish to squander your ancestral heritage?" Hiashi's expression was more serious than ever before. "Ryosuke, with your disposition, it is impossible for you to harbor such a mundane dream. Tell me your true aspirations."

Clearly, he did not believe that Ryosuke's response was genuine.

He suspected that Ryosuke was once again concealing his true potential, hiding his incompetence from his father.

Beside them, Hinata stood with her hands clasped behind her back, her fingers tightly entwined, silently observing.

This was the first instance of Ryosuke's father exhibiting such severity toward him since he joined their family.

He was furious.

"This is my true aspiration."

But Ryosuke maintained his serene smile and composed demeanor, seemingly unaffected by Hiashi's anger.

"Incomprehensible!" Hiashi slammed his fist on the table, causing the noise to reverberate so loudly that the birds perched in the yard took flight in alarm.

"You are aware of the history of our clan," Hiashi continued passionately.

"Since the Warring States Period, despite our clan's status as a noble lineage, we have not produced a truly exceptional individual with both moral integrity and extraordinary talent."

"When Konoha was founded, our clan enjoyed a privileged position in the village, thanks to the superior sensory abilities granted by our bloodline. Yet, even to this day, I find no solace in this, but rather feel a deep sense of shame!"

"And you know the reason for this, Ryosuke!"

Hiashi's emotions surged, his words spilling out vehemently.

This unprecedented loss of composure startled Hinata, causing her to take a step back and stand there in a daze.

However, neither of the two men in the study paid her any heed at that moment.

"I am aware."

Confronted by Hiashi's escalating agitation, Ryosuke nodded calmly.

"Since you understand this, then you must comprehend your duty!"

Hiashi locked eyes with Ryosuke, his gaze unwavering. "During the founding of Konoha, the Uchiha boasted figures like Uchiha Madara, while the Senju produced Hashirama and Tobirama. And I, Hiashi, have failed to produce anyone who could rival them."

"Even though the Senju have faded into history and Uchiha Madara has vanished, figures like Princess Tsunade and Uchiha Kagami have since emerged. Yet, until now, the Hyuga clan has remained bereft of such distinguished individuals."

"Today, with the Senju line extinguished and the Uchiha still thriving, with figures like Itachi and Shisui, the time has come for the Hyuga clan to finally have a standard-bearer. That figure is you, Ryosuke! Your ambitions should extend far beyond mere mediocrity!"

Hiashi's fists clenched, his breaths heavy.

He and Hyuga clan had waited too long for this opportunity.

Konoha's vigilance toward them paled in comparison to that directed at the Uchiha, owing to their underestimation of the Hyuga clan.

For centuries, the Hyuga clan had lacked an individual capable of lead them forward, instead resting on their laurels and past achievements, including Hiashi himself.

The Gentle Fist techniques from a century ago remained unchanged.

The Byakugan had not evolved since its inception a hundred years prior, with no discernible difference from the accounts recorded in the clan's long history. The clan had insisted on preserving the purity of the Byakugan, eschewing any form of advancement.

Apart from these white eyes, they were nothing.

A century had passed, yet nothing had changed save for their continued reliance on past glories.

Meanwhile, other clans had progressed by leaps and bounds.

This was a sentiment shared by all previous clan leaders. While they all harbored anxieties, their concerns had failed to effect change.

But now, the situation was different; the contempt depicted in their history had become reality.

"Father, you appear quite agitated."

Facing Hiashi Hinata, whose veins bulged as if he were entering the Byakugan state, Ryosuke regarded him calmly. Though the smile on his face gradually faded, his demeanor remained composed.

"Living peacefully in this world is not as simple as you imagine," he began, his tone measured. "Likewise, acquiring the power to safeguard one's family and oneself is not a feat achievable overnight."

Indeed, since arriving in this world, Ryosuke had contemplated numerous goals.

However, none seemed as realistic as pursuing peaceful and stable cultivation.

In his previous life, he had been exposed to materialistic ideals in an era devoid of spiritual practices, technology being the dominant force.

In that era, when Ryosuke discovered the ninja world and encountered chakra and the concept of cultivation, he found everything about it to be novel.

The pursuit of power and accumulation of wealth could never compare to the warmth he felt coursing through his body upon first tapping into his chakra and experiencing its flow.

Subsequently, his white eyes and proficiency in the Gentle Fist enabled him to achieve feats he had never dared to imagine. This extraordinary power represented human advancement in its purest form.

Had Ryosuke not been reborn, but instead lived in modern times, he would have pursued a manual on refining chakra.

To him, apart from studying the mysteries of the universe in solitude, the thought of flaunting his abilities before others would never have crossed his mind.

The moment he encountered cultivation and the extraordinary, his perspective and aspirations transcended those of ordinary individuals.

Moreover, this disparity was incomprehensible to the denizens of the ninja world, who had never experienced an era devoid of chakra.
