Chapter 2.
Break time was not Adrian 's favorite time; most of the time he would sit in the class all alone and do his studies or do some other work if he was not being tormented.
But most of the time he was alone, and that was how he liked it most of the time: "enjoying your lunch?"
Adrian recognized the voice in an instant. He looked up and saw Harlan standing there looking at him with cold eyes. Adrian sighed as he said nothing, and Harlan seemed not like that as he grabbed a chair and sat before him. "I asked you something, didn't I? How many more beatings is it going to take for you to learn how to behave?"
Adrian looked at him. One thing that Harlan loved was rubbing salt on his wounds. "Yes, I am," he said as he finished the last sandwich.
"Of course, you should since you need a lot of energy after all," Harlan said with a smile that was not a smile.
Adrian clenched his fists as he heard that. It wasn't always like this, and Harlan wasn't always so cruel like this; it was just that he had done something to deserve this wrath. However, it still hurts a lot to see his former friend looking at him with so much hate.
And Adrian probably deserves this, as he said, "How long are you going to keep this up?" he asked.
Harlan smiled and replied, "As long as I want to. Or perhaps till I get bored."
Adrian nodded. "Why are you getting the others involved, huh?"
Harlan's minions, that is, Jeremy and Fiona, as well as the other two people Martha and Dean were just people who loved to wag their tails in front of Harlan because they knew that he had money and was influential. To top it all off, he was handsome. Why wouldn't anyone like to be in his good grace?
And Harlan was not like before; in the past, he loved to keep to himself, and the only person he opened up to was Adrian, but this time Harlan did make these boot-lickers his 'friends', and he made one thing very clear, and that was the fact that he absolutely hated Adrian .
So to make Harlan happy, the others just joined in to make his life a living hell.
But even after all of this, he didn't hate Harlan. He just has to put up with all of this for a few more days, and then he would be done—just a few more months, and that's all.
Or so Adrian had thought as he looked at Harlan, who gave him a smirk as he said, "Well, my anger is nowhere near calm, you know; you better brace yourself for everything that is coming your way."
Adrian just stared at him before Harlan got up and left and once he was gone, Adrian stared at the empty seat in front of him before he sighed and kept his head down on the table.
God knows when this nightmare will end.
