Chapter 1: Mortal life is Sad and unfair (Rewrite)
In a silent, and luxurious, funeral hall a young teenager stands in front of the not so many figures attending this sad ceremony. The young boy had brown hair, midnight blue eyes that were vast, and a strong build. The boy had redness around his eyes accompanied with dark circles, that inferred irritation and lack of sleep, and his eyes began to water as he started to speak in front of these handful of people.
"H-Hello everyone, I am Obadiah Turner as all of you know, I want to say thankyou for your support and for attending my family's funeral…." His tears began to fall as he stopped his speech and began to reminisce about his dead family members.
Obadiah took some time to cry more but pulled himself together as he was the representative for his family. "Sorry about that, but I thank you all for showing up for Mitchell Turner, Lin Beiya, Jonah Turner, and Lucy Turner. I would like to say some words for each of my family members, starting from my young sister, my older brother, my mother, and lastly my father. This will be for us to remember them and to set their spirits and souls away as they will be with us as long as we live. So let's begin." Obadiah took a second, closed his eyes, and open them back again and began the words he wanted to say for his sister.
"Lucy, first of all, you were too young to leave this world, you were only 13 and hadn't even grown up to be a woman…" Obadiah immediately had tears falling from his eyes but continued on. "I hope you knew I always loved you and liked you as my little sister. I couldn't understand some things you would do as you were younger than me and a girl so I had no interest in the things you would drag me to do. But, now what I wouldn't do, for you to bother me in the middle of something to do what you wanted again. I wish you would've stayed at home with me and didn't get on that plane! I'm never going to be an uncle now, I'm never going to be able to intimidate your first boyfriend, and I'm not even going to be able to see you get married! I miss you so much Lucy!" Obadiah screeched as he was bawling at this point.
Obadiah had to take a few minutes to calm down and start the next person. "Jonah, big brother, you weren't young like Lucy as you were an old man who was 23 already. You were gonna be the one to run the family business and take dad's place. Now it seems it will be my job to fill both of your shoes… Back when we were kids you would always teeze me or bully me for being a bit dull headed or different from kids my age. As I would like to be in my own world working or thinking of the stuff that I liked and that I believed was important. I now see that you might've teezed me since you were my big brother and bullied me as you were worried about me being an outcast, but I see you still loved me for being my own person in my own world. Jonah I love you and I miss you, I'm scared to be alone, and I'm scared about not having my older brother protect me! Now I have to face everything alone without being able to consult you, dad, or mom! Jonah I'm broken at you all dying in that plane! Why the hell did you become dad's successor? I love you big brother and g-goodbye.." Obadiah let it out once more as he finished his words.
5 minutes later Obadiah was good again to proceed.
"Mom, I've spoken about your children and your last living child is going to speak about you. Mom, you were the warmest embrace I've ever known in my life. Whenever I was cared for by you, which was constantly, I could feel the love you radiated for your children. As the middle child there are stereotypes that we're neglected more than the youngest and oldest, but I never felt neglected from you or treated any differently. I could see you loved your children all equally. I want to thank you mom for carrying me, caring for me, and bringing me into this world to experience the mystery of life. There are many people in this world that hate their mothers, dislike, fight, or even the situation where a mother doesn't even deserve her child as she hates that child. And I honestly can't understand at this point in life why any of that is a thing, maybe it's because i had a good mother, and that's even with you being unreasonable at times; However I love you mom and couldn't dare to fight or argue with you. You're the one who showed me how to treat a woman, how a woman should treat you, and how to love and be loved. You weren't perfect and neither am I but you had some power to create beautiful children, so thank you again. I'm going to really miss you, and your cooking, and your cleaning, as well as you shopping, and just about everything. You never talked much about your past though, and that's the only thing I wish you were honest with us about. As mom, I have no idea where you come from or who you were before dad. So who are you and why couldn't you have stayed to tell me. You didn't have to accompany dad to everything even if you are his better half. I wish you stayed, and stayed in my life, because who's warm embrace am I supposed to go into to feel the love I grew up with? Mom I'm sad and powerless at this moment, all I wish you prepared me for was when you would be gone, because I can barely take any of this!" Obadiah held strong for 90% of it until the end when he spoke his true feelings.
He, when growing up was different from other kids, with personality and build. He was strong but also smart, smart in the way he would have high attention to detail of things but would space out when focused. He got tested for ADHD and came positive with it, the doctors offered prescriptions to help him but Obadiah refused them adamantly as it would make him feel worse and it made him feel overwhelmed. He couldn't function and he couldn't control his emotions due to being overwhelmed and unable to block out unnecessary thoughts. His mother understood this so she told him he didn't have to take them anymore. She accepted him for being different from other kids and people, as she loved him. So the loss of his mother truly broke him down more.
It took around 15 minutes for Obadiah to hold himself back up once again. It was time for the final person and the one Obadiah respected the most in his life, his father Mitchell Turner.
"….Dad, you… I'm sorry… but I'm thankful and wouldn't want any other dad than you ever… I'm sorry… I can't say anymore. Please everyone Just Go! Leave me alone here to mourn for my family, and you old bastards can eat shit!" Obadiah couldn't say anything about his father in front of this group of people. As few as it was, all these people clearly had no feelings for the family. And why you may ask, it's simply because none of them shed a single tear!
The whole time Obadiah was talking the people didn't cry and the old folks didn't even bother to hide their sneers for the death of 80% of the family. Obadiah grew red in the face and as his tears fell he looked at this group of demons like a real demon.
Obadiah didn't want to be disrespected any longer by false pretenses. So he saved his words and heart and the embarrassment. The people didn't say anything back either and simply left. As they all left, the last person, an old man wearing a robe who looked around 60-70 years old said standing in front of the door looking back towards Obadiah.
"Obi, I may be old and I might have not cried, but I'm not the same as those foxes who only came to feel good about their business competitor being gone. I will still go because you asked but I have something I need to say to you and was the reason for my visit along with mourning your family." Before the old man could continue, Obadiah interrupted while still in his rage.
"I don't care how important it is, It can be your life, the president's life, or about the end of the world! I want you to go! If you waited this long to see me and to tell me this, you can wait longer! And if it's so important you can send it to me via mail, email, text, or social media! So get the hell out, everything else can wait at this moment!"
The old man was surprised but understood and wasn't offended, he simply smiled and walked out obediently into the open air.
Obadiah, now alone, dropped to his knees in front of the photos of each of his family while the candles burned. His head dropped, his eyelids closed, fists tightened, and now no longer showed any sign of toughness he was trying to muster as he weeped and weeped, until he couldn't stay awake anymore and fell asleep. In this sleep something seemed to have changed in Obadiah, deep in his consciousness you could say. It might've been caused by his dream or maybe the neurons in his brain repositioned because of him still developing and going through a traumatic experience. However, everything is speculation and can only be confirmed by Obadiah himself.
Some time later a luxury escalade was seen driving, and in this escalade was that old man, a young girl in a qipao, and a young man in ancient war armour.
The young girl was staring at the old man who seemed to be tired and asked "Grandpa, why are we attending that woman's funeral if she abandoned the clan? Isn't she technically no longer a part of the Lin clan and should be treated as a stranger?"
The old man seemed to predict this question and responded "Yes Qiqi, she abandoned the clan to live in the world of mortals to live with a mortal businessman. But just because she cut ties doesn't mean she cut blood, and with the clan's current situation in the eastern continent of Tianwu world we're in desperate need of any potential talents. I've come to this small realm of our clan that I chanced upon back then to see if any of the members in the world of mortals have any talented descendants. And it just so happens that woman chanced upon this realm before me as she wouldn't be allowed in if she came after. And it seems that the boy is innately strong and has a decent standing in society due to his father who helped develop something called "electronics". And those electronics are even in this "car" that we're in as well. Our next plan of business is to stay in this realm until we gather all the talents we can, so I'll write a letter to the boy this time and invite him to the branch clan's compound."
The young girl listened attentively and was able to understand the importance of this trip. She was one of this "clans" geniuses who was taking a trip to broaden their horizons.
"Well grandpa I hope he has talent and decides to come with us back to Tianyu, he was kinda cute for a mortal! And he shouldn't be so sad, his mortal life is too short to be sad, he'll see his family soon enough in the next life if he doesn't cultivate anyway, isn't that right brother Lu?"
The young man in ancient war armour was on the other side of the vehicle with his arms crossed and his spear in his grasp. He heard what the young girl said and didn't say much as this was a mission assigned by the elders in the clan.
"Yeah I guess you're right Qiqi, he won't live that long will he?" The youngman just showed amusement and didn't want to continue in word play with a young girl.
The young girl didn't continue on and simply stared outside the window of the escalade looking at this world different from what they are used to.
"So this world is built off of modern technology? I wonder what amazing things these mortals created and developed to make buildings 10 times higher than the tallest buildings in the clans' mortal cities around the main clan mountain."
The escalade would bring these 3 to their destination as some time later after Obadiah fell asleep in mourning his losses, he's awoken by a hand on his shoulder a very familiar voice from behind him.
'Uncle!'
