BODHI'S BOUNTY BOOK
Shinzen Academy: A Review by Bodhi Hamada
Daiki Ogano
- Captain of Shinzen. Wing Spiker. Very loud and Brash. Power is okay nothing to write home about, but true potential shows through in their Combo Plays ELITE. Serving is passable, being a team that relies a lot on offence they could improve upon their receives. Higher receive = greater time to do a combo
- FPI (Future potential improvements):…He isn't going to go much further. However, improving upon his conditioning will prove useful in multiple facets of his life.
Eikichi Chigaya
- Middle Blocker. First year. Excellent player, by far Shinzen's strongest player. Has good power and is quick on the uptake in blocking. Able to read most plays after seeing them only a few times. Potential squandered? He may have done better at a more blocking/defensive-focused school.
- FPI: increasing his speed. His thinking is quick, and he knows what's going to happen but he's a half-step to a step behind the play initially. Increasing speed will shorten that window and allow him to block sooner rather than later.
Final Notes: Nobody else caught my eye on Shinzen. They do a lot of combo plays meaning they don't truly have an Ace. Somebody they can truly really upon when they need that desperate point. Eikichi may be that player but it's tough being an Ace as a middle blocker.
*Fwee!*
"Point Ubugawa! 7-4! Ubugawa serve!" the ref yelled. His name was Yosuke Akita, the second coach of Ubugawa (like Mizoguchi).
"Damn…Kunimi! Get under that ya wuss!" Bodhi told his teammate. He had been told he was going to sit out this match. Having played in the previous three he was getting a break before they played the strongest team at this training camp.
Fukurodani.
The other main starters were also getting a break. Mainly the third years. The first-year starters were playing in this match, however. Yahaba was out there with Kindaichi and Motomu as middle blockers, the wings were Kunimi, Mad-Dog, and Kaneo. Shinji played libero in this game.
"…not like I would have got it…" Kunimi mumbled under his breath. He hadn't the time nor the energy to deal with Bodhi. The serve had come from that fish-lip senior. His serves were really strong, not on the level of Oikawa or Bodhi but strong nonetheless.
"DON'T MATTER!!! GIVE IT YOUR ALL!" Bodhi cheered. Trying and failing to rile up his fellow first year.
Kunimi just ignored him and got ready to receive this time…
As long as it wasn't too far away from him…
"That guy man…I know he saves his energy and all but come on! He had that! Right, Maki?" Bodhi questioned.
Maki, who had played with Kunimi in the past, knew this was a losing battle. He enjoyed taking it easy in life and transferred that to how he played volleyball. And while it is valuable to have energy towards the end of the game, to drive the final nail home, if the gap in points ever got too big and Seijo was behind, Kunimi sure as shit would try then.
"Yeah, he should have had that. Hana! Mark it down he gets extra sprints!" Maki yelled over to their manager. Maybe some incentive to not let the close ones go bye will let him play a little harder.
He hated extra work more than anything else…besides losing…
"HAHA! Victory!" Bodhi boasted. He then turned his attention back to his bounty book, putting all the information to paper. He liked to be organized after all.
BODHI'S BOUNTY BOOK
Nekoma High: A Review by Bodhi
Rooster Head (Kuro Tetsuro)
- Captain of Nekoma. Middle Cocker(hehe). Pillar on middle blocking, very high talent and IQ for it. Reliable in all facets of the game honestly, great time differential attack too. The best part though…has phenomenal banter.
- Great captain as well, can pull his team from the depths of despair and negativity. He and that libero are good at that. More on him later. Similar to Daichi, but while he specializes in receives he's better at blocking.
- FPI: better serve. His height would lend itself to a strong jump serve. More power as well; would help with blocking as well. Greater kill power.
Kai Nobuyuki
- Vice-Captain? I think? Wing/Opposite. Kind of forgot all about him. His play is nothing fancy, but he connects and communicates well with everyone on the team and can cover for their weaknesses. Strong digs and flexible too.
- FPI: break out from that role as a versatile player. Maybe get a jump serve? Something to benefit the team more instead of being the 'coverage' guy. It breeds stability which while good can lead to stagnancy.
Yaku Morisuke
- What a fucking libero. Probably the best libero I've ever played against besides Cahill. Shivers. Plain and simple when that guy receives, they are always at minimum a B-pass. Rarely ever anything worse. He won't stumble again when I turn it up. I'm sure of that.
- Goat honestly. Nuff said.
- FPI: wouldn't know what to put here. Contact Cahill.
Yamamoto Taketora
- Ace of Nekoma. Wing Spiker. No doubt has the best power on the team and just like everyone else has strong receivers and flexibility to the 9's. temper though, easy to rile up and if you put him in his place he may shy away. Kuro and their setter can probably pull him out though.
- FPI: Cooler head or learn how to channel the anger into power. Jump serve; his power would correlate well with it.
Kenma Kozume
- Very brainy player, he fooled Matsu which doesn't happen often. His sets are also stable. Nothing fancy but he gets the job done. Looks like a twig though, if he received anything of mine or Iwa's he might lose an arm lol.
- Tricky bastard.
- FPI: Cardio man. Stamina will benefit him the most, but it almost looks like he doesn't want to play? Weird honestly.
Shohei Fukunaga
- Wing Spiker. FREAKY GUY! Weirds me out if I'm being honest. The most flexible on the team though. Has good digs and receives because of that. Also, a tricky kind of player, unpredictable if you will…but I think that's just because he's a weird dude.
- FPI: power again. Maybe a doctor visit too, gotta check out if his weirdness is contagious
So Inuoka
- Middle blocker. Didn't get to see much of him but he's quick. Very quick. And has a lot of stamina. Kuro might be able to reign in that wildness a bit and turn him into a formidable middle. Good power and technique but relies a bit too much on his speed, can overshoot block placement and collide with fellow wall.
- FPI: Calming down and a better IQ for the game. Kuro?
Lev Haiba
- Tall lanky Russian. Not powerful but his whip-like arm motion can snap the ball and make it appear to be quicker than it actually is. Deceptive spike. Other than that. Nothing stood out, relies solely on his height and instincts and while not bad needs refinement.
- FPI: Literally every facet of his game, no doubt Yaku and Kuro are gonna put him through the wringer. Call his sister too.
"Seijo serve!" Akita said.
Bodhi's attention was brought back to the game and he noticed it was Mad-Dogs turn to serve. And while he hated the guy's guts…the guy had power and plenty of it.
He watched Mad-Dog's routine and again wondered just how he was able to basically snap his back in two and propel it forward with such force the serve was all the more powerful. He must work out his back a lot. To be able to apply that much force from his back is incredible…Bodhi thought.
"Point Seijo! 14-10! Seijo serve!"
After watching him get a service ace, Bodhi's attention went back to his book and this time it was on the opponents they were currently facing…sadly it was a short list.
BODHI'S BOUNTY BOOK
Ubugawa High: A review by Bodhi.
Masaki Gora
- Captain and Wing Spiker. Ace? Hard to tell. Their players all have great serves but he stands out as the best. Not as strong as mine or Oikawa's but it has a good spin and power behind it.
- FPI: Much like Daiki. Don't really see this guy or their team going anywhere. Despite specializing in serve and block technique, they lack strength in other facets of the game and are hooped if the opposing team gets it up cleanly. Eikichi should have gone here. Would have shined.
After the short entry on Ubugawa Bodhi watched the rest of the game with meager interest. The game while close wasn't close enough for them to make a comeback and win. Shinji was starting to get their serves up cleanly, at least those that didn't come from Masaki. Kindaichi was leading the blocking and Kunimi, fearing extra work, started to play harder and got some balls that he otherwise would have left.
And just like that 10 minutes later the game was called. 25-22 in favour of Seijo. Making their record on the day 4-0. Perfect so far.
"Nice game guys!" Bodhi congratulated them, high-fiving them as they came for water.
"Thanks, Bodhi," Kindaichi said. Others echoed similar sentiments.
"Fuck you," Mad-Dog said, walking by Bodhi and plunking his ass on the bench. Gulping down water. And before Bodhi could react, a stray Iwa came out of nowhere for a KO punch to the head and a lecture on respecting your teammates. "Sorry and thank you."
"Mmm, welcome Chihua-" Before he could get that out though, Hana too came out of nowhere and karate chopped him on the head and pulled his ear down to her level and gave him a lecture.
"Thank you, Mad-Dog," Bodhi managed to say through gritted teeth.
Both players were sporting comical bumps on their heads for their lack of respect for one another.
"Alright! Bring it in!" Coach Irihata ordered. All the boys gathered around him. "Next we play Fukurodani Academy. Without them, we wouldn't be here, and I can guarantee you this, they are on a whole other level. Similar if not surpassing Shiratorizawa in skill. They too have a top Ace in the nation and arguably the strongest Middle Blocker in all of high school volleyball. Kotaro Bokuto and Tatsuki Washio. Watch out for those two primarily but not only them, but the rest of their team is also strong. If you can't beat them, there's no hope in beating Shiratorizawa."
He let that hang in the air a moment before continuing.
"That was before, however. You gentlemen have grown and changed for the better! Use your new strength to surpass them and rise ever higher! Be the Kings who Rule the Court!" Irihata roared out. The boys all cheered along.
Fukurodani who had just made it to the middle court, heard the commotion on the opposite side.
"Man! Are they ever pumped! Akaashi! Say something inspiring!" Bokuto demanded. "I need to get pumped too!"
Before Akaashi could reply in a way that wouldn't destroy their ace's confidence and hamper them in this match that would probably be the toughest one today if what Tatsuki said was anything to go by, was interrupted by the very man mentioned before.
"Bokuto, you'll want to be at your best for this match. You'll regret it otherwise," Tatsuki told him. "He's on your level…or he was a year ago. Who knows where he stands now."
After finishing that he walked away from his team to where the net was, coincidentally meeting his rival across from him.
"You ready for this Tattoo? I ain't gonna go easy on ya," Bodhi grinned viciously, stating his intentions on going all out.
Tatsuki replied in kind, matching the Maverick's feral grin. "I wouldn't have it any other way. Today you will know DEFEAT!"
Staring at each other their auras began to clash with one another. Their teammates soon joined them on the court and witnessed the duel between the two of them. What happens when an unstoppable force meets and immovable object?
If you don't know, your about to find out.
Author Note:
Alright! Here we fucking go! Bodhi VS. Tatsuki! Aoba Johsai VS. Fukurodani. A clash of titans! Bro I can't wait for you guys to read the next match. If you can't tell that I'm excited well, I'm disappointed.
Also, this chapter was a bit of an interlude if you couldn't tell, the return of Bodhi's Bounty Book. I thought this would be good to use as an interlude with Ubugawa being the poor sap out. I mean come on, they were by far the least interesting team and if you disagree, fair dinkum but I ain't changing shit.
See you guys on Friday!
