Chapter 28 - Inhumane Dominance

Adam sat silently under the shadows of a random class building that was erected upon the vast plains of Moorloch Grand Academy.

Continuously plagued by the spiral of event, his head probably couldn't contain it all.

He looked around for a second, gazing at the training field that was only a meter from him.

'Perhaps it'll get my mind off this!'

Adam had been refining a skill - Distorted Lash - prior to his expedition into the forest, at the hope of impressing the Elite Master and stunning Acer.

But after the interference of the red haired boy, the Elite Master certainly became impossible to impress as he only blabbered at the new boys strength.

And Acer, he lurked somewhere in the forest, his fate now in the hands of the forest.

And so, Adam's motive deviated from that time.

The mission to act exaggerated, or to impress anyone died out, and his only focus was to kill the assigned beasts.

From his bountiful skill list, both hidden and others, he barely made use of any variants as he continuously used his series of attack on any beast - irrespective of their form.

Stripping Chaos, Continuous Blaze Of Chaos - Black ball, and then a batch of Chaos Ball.

And before his mana eventually ran out, he'd managed to kill three awakened beasts.

The farmstead boy - if he could even be called that - barely gave any other student a chance to deal with a beast.

His demeanor all through had been regal and interesting - a personalized aura only he radiated through the widespread of the forest.

Before Adam stood from where he sat, another thought crossed through his mind.

When Acer was a second year student, he had been admitted into the academy, automatically transferred into the second-year class.

And since then, he and the latter shared a rivaling relationship.

'Now I know how he felt!'

To have suddenly be exposed to a competitor who would back down, and even made his superiority clear.

It all sounded like a backlash from Karma.

He stood up from the concrete ground, dusting the dirt off his average cloth.

When he drew closer to the training ground, he realized he wasn't going to be alone as a hefty student trained at his own accord.

The student, a guy known as Nic in his martial class busily kicked and punched at the air.

He stood bare chest with his shirt closely placed on the ground beside him.

His chest was rip and his abs were obvious. Even Adam couldn't help but laugh at thought of what this guy could do to a human with only a single punch.

But at the presence of the lad, Adam could no longer practice his skill of chaos, especially when he meant for it to be a hidden card amongst his deck.

Adam slowly backed away before he turned around, but just as he did so, he sighted a silvery shimmer few meter from Nic.

Abruptly, his gaze returned to the lad whose focus were entirely nurtured into his training.

The shimmering metal that reflected the moonlight steadily advanced towards the boy, even exuding a deadly grace that made Adam shiver.

But he'd felt like that pulsating energy before. It was from...

%# Boom %@

A sudden clash stopped Adam's thinking as a clanging noise crept into the surrounding.

Ryuu stood in front of the boy with his katana laced at the boy's skin, however, it was all being stopped by Nic whose glittery arms served an armor, unharmed by the direct impact from the sword.

Both young men looked directly at each other eyes, but Ryuu suddenly backed away, his blade pointing at the other lad.

"I ain't really here for a chat. But still..."

"You the so called farmstead boy, ehnn?" Nic interrupted, his husky voice striking as an epitome of strength fueled by anger.

He continued with a even deeper frown, "Even though you're a psycho - hungry for a kill, can't you just wait until you're settled in the academy."

A silence loomed, with Ryuu watch tightly fixed on the student, and the counterpart, bearing a frown with his heavy figure.

"What's your name?"

"You just tried to kill me! What will be the need." Nic asked, his frown mixing with a weigh of disgust.

"I'm a thirteenth year student alright. I could crush you with a single blow." He added.

Meanwhile, Adam stood hidden in the darkness - though in plain sight because the field barely had an obstruction, but both men seemed invested in their battle.

But before he realized, the two fellow clashed again, transforming the field into scaring amalgamation of discomfort.

Ryuu's blade kept slash through the air with swift prowess and strength, striking Nic's skin at almost every part.

But the latter wasn't stunned by the blade that made contact with his Qi-Infused skin.

Be it a great sword, or even those sent from the sky, as far as he had a concentration of Qi all through his body muscles, he would remain unharmed.

As a matter of fact, he didn't want to proceed into the deathmatch until he understood why this was happening.

Ryuu had unfortunately, already presented himself as a senseless psycho, but he wanted to know why he was a target.

Starting from the moment they had set eyes on each other.

After what seemed like a minute, Ryuu passed again, but this time, with a sinister smile.

"That monster's demons still playing dumb even when they're caught..."

Ryuu nodded and heaved a sigh as his longsword was once again pointed straight as Nic.

"... Do you have an answer to the question I asked when we last met?"

Nic's brows, as well of the hidden onlooker furrowed. Intrigue now the only substance that welled up in their heart.

"Have I met you before?"

Ryuu's suddenly looked offended at Nic's reply, his katana shimmering with an odd purple light.

"Wrong answer!"

Ryuu once again continued his bombardment of cuts, each slice waged a mountain-crushing strength paired by heavenly speed.

The first slash went across Nic's chest and a spurt of blood suddenly gushed.

Nic for sure had been taken by surprise, but with his long experience in training, he dodged the next strike - albeit narrowly, and countered with a flying kick.

His attack was synonymous to the gracefully of the blade, conjuring an equal speed. But at his next blink, his opponent had disappeared from sight, and unveil behind him, quickly knocking him on the head with the hilt of his sword.

Nic fell to the ground like a man high with drugs, every aspect of his being that were once in harmony were now in disarray, trembling at such power that manifested before them.

Only when Ryuu arrived, his usual subtle aura of strength followed, but it wasn't enough to have caused any alarm. But now, the energy that radiated from the lad was too scary, tempering with his spine and lifting his pulse.

Additionally Ryuu's speed was impossible to monitor at his last move, giving his opponent to sign of his presence until his attack eventually came, and even worse, they were at perfect synchronization with his undue strength.

"You even went further to leaking out red blood! Did you forget I can smell your kind even through they are at the bottom of the sea?"

"What are you talking about..." Nic was shivering and in tears at the realization of his fate.

He had been overpowered and heavily bruised, the pain of the slash across his chest could only make his heart thud and even faster.

"Ever wondered how I managed to kill you kind?"

Nic kept groaning all through Ryuu's words that only purged with horror and brutality.

, "It's done with Aurora pierced deep into their heart!"

Nic's eyes widened as he saw the Katana first lay on his chest, and then it was pitch darkness.

Ryuu felt satisfied feeling as his Katana, the one he had named Aurora piercing through the heart of their latest victim.

An Akuma demon who had been sent by his Archenemy - the master demon who caused the premature wipeout of his tribe back in the East.

Ryuu dug Aurora deeper through the heart of their failed opponent, prompting a the weapon to glow - then absorb the essence of the demon.

But while he waited for the katana to dilate even the slightest shimmer, it never happened.

Aurora remained impaled in her victim who gazed at them with its pale and lifeless eyes.

Ryuu drew Aurora from the corpse, his gaze fixed at the dripping red blood on the item, and then at the lifeless eyes of his victim who still exuded a usual stench of demon's scent.

If it had been a demon, the body would have already dried into ash as its essence escaped into Aurora, and its signature stench would have faded immediately.

But the corpse before then negated all that was supposed to happen, serving as a proof of the fatal misconception he had.

"I just killed a basic human!"

Meanwhile Adam had flee the scene once Ryuu's sword had pierced through the chest of the student.

His heart threatened to pop right out of his chest as he could barely move without staggering.

When the school would have found Nic's body laying lifeless the next day, then they would realize how much mistake they'd made bringing an unknown character into the academy.
