Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Dead Don't Need to Know the Answer

Above Lucas's head appeared a holy chalice, pouring a liquid light over him like a baptism.

Intense holy light burst outward from Lucas.

The evil entities summoned by dark magic dissipated upon touching the holy light, like cotton candy melting in water.

Light dispelled the darkness. Ghostly hands and the summoned snake turned into wisps of smoke in the holy light.

The sound of curses vanished like a fart, a brief "poof" and then silence.

The holy light, after its explosion, quickly contracted and transformed into white armor that clung to Lucas.

However, this full-body armor only covered half of his body, giving him a dual-aspect beauty.

Lucas continued forward, the armor's segments clinking as they rubbed together, with holy energy creating an oppressive aura toward Brenda.

Brenda indeed did not know the intruder could use rare holy energy. Mainly because the Mad Axe Gang members died too quickly, and Lucas's frost skills were too dazzling, overshadowing the damage caused by the holy flames.

Facing an elf wielding energy that restrained her, Brenda could only fight desperately.

The gems on her headband burst into intense light, then all turned to obsidian.

Behind her, a black mirror unfolded, tendrils emerging from it and wrapping around her.

Brenda chanted incantations. The tendrils multiplied, binding her tighter and tighter.

Her breathing became labored, but she continued chanting.

Lucas approached her, the holy flames solidifying into a film of light covering the blade of his machete.

He sheathed his curved blade with his left hand and took out a potion.

Breaking the vial, the potion turned to dust upon contact with air, drifting towards the black hole.

"Soul devourer of the shadows, this is not where you belong, and I am not someone you can contend with. Return to your lair and enjoy the gift I offer you, it should compensate for this soul."

"If you block my path again, I will kill you."

As the dust drifted into the black mirror, the tendrils gradually released Brenda and slowly retreated into the mirror.

The final dust entered the mirror, which then closed and disappeared.

Brenda couldn't believe that after voluntarily sacrificing her soul, the dark soul devourer would retreat in the face of this elf.

Feeling helpless, she looked in terror at the elf in front of her, adorned with half armor.

The elf possessed an ethereal beauty, a holy majesty, and a masculine aura.

"Who are you really?"

"The dead don't need to know the answer."

Lucas decapitated the weakened Brenda with one slash.

Behind this door should be the ox-horned demon Jumu and the heart of the red dragon Nielcolone in the safe.

Lucas set his level to 100.

Remaining time: five minutes and ten seconds...

A bit tight, but enough to kill a four-star hero.

Lucas kicked the luxurious wooden door to pieces and teleported inside.

Jumu was in the room, being assisted by a maid to don a set of armor. When the door was kicked in, the armor was only half-worn.

Seeing an elf in half armor... half-body armor appear in his room, Jumu pushed the maid aside and tore off the incomplete plate armor, tossing it away.

He grabbed a giant axe from beside him and demanded of the intruding elf, "What did you do to Brenda?"

Lucas didn't immediately attack Jumu but spoke to the maid who was cowering in the corner, "Hey, miss... this has nothing to do with you, get out!"

The maid immediately stood up and ran out. Jumu did not stop her.

As she reached the door, the maid saw Brenda's body lying outside and let out a scream.

"Master, Miss Brenda... she's dead…"

The maid finished speaking and then ran out.

Jumu looked at Lucas, eyes filled with hatred, and the two large pairs of horns on his head burst into flames.

He dragged his double-edged battle axe towards Lucas, his robust body moving like an enraged bull.

"Elf, who sent you! You are provoking a war! You will understand the consequences of angering the Mad Axe Gang."

Having wasted quite a bit of time with the maid, Lucas, too, advanced with his blade towards Jumu.

Compared to Jumu, Lucas's physique appeared weak and fragile.

The fusion reactor in the chest overclocked, generating immense energy that surged through his body.

The half of his face not covered by his helmet displayed light green patterns, and his green eyes turned into the color of ice crystals.

Jumu felt the pressure from a powerful being and released a flame shield, three rotating fire shields encircling him.

At that moment, numerous ice flowers bloomed in the room, and in the extreme cold, the flame shields quickly shrank.

In an instant, they turned into three small flames and then disappeared with a pop.

Jumu spat out fire from his mouth.

Snow and wind, following Lucas's steps, whipped up inside the room and then focused towards Jumu, pushing the flames back.

In a short time, large chunks of ice formed in the room, turning it into an ice cave reminiscent of the polar regions.

Jumu finally realized the intruder's strength; his own fire energy was now like a candle in the wind and snow.

But waiting to die was not Jumu's way of survival. He had cut down opponents stronger than himself before.

Life-and-death battles relied on strength, ferocity, luck, and... battle strategy.

Jumu continued advancing toward the invading elf, braving the cold that seemed to pierce his skin, gathering all his strength.

Gripping the battle axe with both hands, he swung it down.

A fierce heavy strike! The heavy battle axe whistled through the air, flames spraying out from its blade.

As the battle axe fell, the elf's figure disappeared from the spot.

Jumu immediately released explosive flames, the high temperature heating the air and forming a pressure wave that burst outward.

Lucas, who had teleported to Jumu's side, was blasted backward by the air current, then fell as the floor beneath him gave way.

Jumu had shattered the floor with his axe, and the explosive flames had further weakened it, causing a large section to collapse.

Jumu thought that if they fell to the first floor, his men could come to his aid. Whether it was a group attack or a chance to escape, it was better than facing this powerful elf alone.

But…

Why was his falling body rising back up?

Why were the falling floor fragments also rising and recombining as if nothing had happened?

Time! She, she could control time!

Jumu looked in terror at his side, seeing the pressure from his explosive flames reversing inward.

The elf appeared at his side, her machete swinging, covered in a holy white light film.

A flash of the blade, and Jumu felt the world spin before he hit the ground and rolled.

He saw his body, headless. He saw the explosive flames pushing the elf away.

He saw the floor shatter and collapse again.

Then, he saw nothing at all.
