Cervini stared blankly at him, unsure of what he intended to do. She didn't move closer or take a step back; she simply stood by the window, gazing at the person over there.
"Still not asleep? What are you looking at?" He slowly moved closer to her, and her heart began to race.
What was he here for? What did he want?
But she quickly realized that he was her husband; of course, he had come into the bedroom to sleep… but… but… Her mind raced, but she couldn't find any fragments of the love they once shared. Why did she always feel like all her thoughts weren't her own, yet they undeniably were?
He stood right in front of her, his eyes fixed on hers. Cervini looked back at him, her breathing becoming increasingly erratic. She tried to force a smile, but found that the smile remained stiff on her lips, unable to break free.
"Cervini? You're scared." He leaned closer, inhaling her fragrant scent and exhaling softly against her.
